Except for the fact that Sym-Bionic Titan (which was created by the same genius that created and/or directed three shows from Cartoon Network's golden age,) Regular Show, Scooby Doo: Mystery, Inc and Adventure Time are considered Cartoon Network's best shows in years. How many of these shows did you actually watch before declaring them garbage? However, you made a claim that subtle adult jokes were what they needed to put in to make good shows again, and I provided evidence that they have never stopped putting in subtle adult jokes. Under your "logic" this makes them good shows.
Because Metroid, Mario and Zelda aren't critically acclaimed games that target gamers and, in the case of Mario, the mainstream as well. Further, I must have missed the point where Mario and Pokemon were violent games. [/sarcasm] Then why did you bring up M rated games in the first place? Nintendo has ALWAYS been family friendly. Its nothing new. What were the games on the N64 that are most fondly remembered by gamers in general? Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Mario 64 and Goldeneye. All four of those are also on the Wii through Virtual Console and the Goldeneye remake. Not to mention the critically acclaimed Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and the anticipated Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. You've obviously never played Metroid Prime. That game is ****ing terrifying at times. So, you're rejecting it entirely based on the art style? Yeah, nevermind that Windwaker is remembered as one of the Gamecube's best games, as well as one of the system's deepest games. [/sarcasm] Art style has nothing to do with the quality of a game. Hell, if art style is such a concern, go play Twilight Princess or wait for Skyward Sword. Those games don't use the Windwaker art style because of the complaints Nintendo got about it. Again, you're rejecting these games based entirely off of art style. That's the most shallow reason to reject a game I can think of. Yeah, like I said, you're probably a stereotypical "adult" gamer who rejects games for stupid reasons like it "looking kiddy." The reason we don't look at how many people aren't buying a Wii is because that doesn't matter. Nintendo doesn't need your money as they have 53 million other people who have already given them their money.

They still put adult jokes in "kid" shows and get it past the censors and they STILL do it incredibly unsubtly.
An unheard of amount of launch units (5 million compared to the Wii's 2 million, the 360's 1.5 million and the PS3's half a million) doesn't exactly hurt, either.
Nex Gen Wars does a relatively accurate estimation based on amount of consoles shipped. If you watch the page, the numbers grow in real time. Its not 100% accurate, but its as accurate as you're going to get with just numbers shipped, which are, frankly, the only numbers you're going to get reliably. They're probably off by a couple thousand, but the site's still good for proving the sales point. Though I have to point out that your earlier point about the Gamecube vs the XBox is incorrect. The Gamecube sold about 22 million units while the XBox only sold about 24 million. Like I said, Nintendo did decently with the Gamecube. Sales were lagging near the end of its life, but it wasn't the horrible bomb that people make it out to be.
I like their games and they're #1 in the handheld market for a reason. Actually, it was not. Contrary to popular belief, the Gamecube made a solid profit and was the only one of the big three in the last generation to make a profit from day 1. It actually took Sony and Microsoft a couple years before they started to make money off the PS2 and XBox. Plus, it had a solid lineup of games with Metroid Prime and Prime 2 (Wii versions notwithstanding), Super Mario Sunshine, all three Legend of Zelda games on it (Windwaker, Four Swords Adventures and Twilight Princess (Wii version notwithstanding,)) Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Pikmin and Pikmin 2, Skies of Arcadia Legends, among quite a bit more. How so? Nintendo's doing damn good in a business department because they've managed to break into the mainstream. Further, family friendly doesn't automatically mean something is bad. There's a reason games like Super Mario Galaxy are critically acclaimed. The entire point of the Virtual Console is the old school gamer demographic. As well as games that cash in on nostalgia like New Super Mario Bros Wii. 53 million Wiis versus 57 million total PS3s and XBoxes say otherwise. From my own collection: Resident Evil 4, Madworld, No More Heroes and No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle. There aren't a lot, but they are there. If you're looking for shooters, from my own collection: The Conduit, Red Steel 2 and Metroid Prime 1, 2 and 3 (granted, the Metroid Prime Trilogy is no longer in production as it was a limited edition thing, but Metroid Prime 3 still exists.) However, why does it matter? Violence and swearing don't make a good game. If the violence and swearing fit in with the gameplay or story, then great. If not, then the game isn't invalid or bad just because its family friendly. Case in point, Super Mario Galaxy is considered one of the best Nintendo games in the last decade. Madworld is, literally, the most violent game ever produced on a console. Because Zelda, Metroid and Fire Emblem are so made for children. [/sarcasm] Since when has Nintendo ever conformed to the popular trends in video games? They've always been perfectly happy and quite successful to do things their way. That said, from just Nintendo first party games, Fire Emblem, Zelda and Metroid are all franchises that target older gamers and are not games that the vast majority of children under 12 would have the patience to play through (plus Fire Emblem, at least on the Wii are most of the Japan only titles, is damn hard.) And I think you're a stereotypical "adult" gamer who thinks every game should run off Unreal 3 and be filled with blood, gore and profanity that doesn't always add anything and, instead, often just makes a game violent for the sake of violence. I bet you also reject games that don't have "realistic" graphics that think real is brown and wouldn't touch a cel shaded game and instead would call it "kiddy."
I'd say its likely on the back burner since Half-Life doesn't make Valve as much money as Portal or Left 4 Dead.
Eh, no it really doesn't. Gurren Lagann is a reconstructive parody of the super robot genre and while it is incredibly fun, incredibly well made and very good, it is by no means revolutionary. Everything Gurren Lagann did had been done long before. People often call it the "anti-Evangelion" and I would be inclined to agree, but GaoGaiGar was the anti-Evangelion for years before Gurren Lagann. YouTube the final fight scene and you'll see the only thing really worth watching those movies for. They're basically giant clip shows to condense the series into two movies. There is very little new footage.
So is there any word on Sym-Bionic Titan or is it going the same way as Genndy Tartakovsky's other work? I mean, Samurai Jack was unceremoniously canceled before the initial order was finished, Dexter's Lab was given to another studio that made the last season or two absolute crap and the Clone Wars miniseries keeps getting retconed by the new (and vastly inferior) Clone Wars series.
Alright, as moshing is technically a style of dance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPRt6Tt6RyM And as headbanging is also technically a style of dance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-VxlqLKbc4 For the record, I am well aware that this is cheating.
That, unsurprisingly, is just the result of the more pathetic part of Japanese geek culture. This is the same kind of idiot who freaks out over a voice actress/pop singer expressing interest in expanding her career as well as the same kind of idiot who thinks a game company making a Wii game instead of a Playstation game is betrayal, but will buy still buy a game just to destroy it, thinking its a better option than saving the money (seriously, the Japanese YouTube is absolutely filled with videos of people destroying CDs, movies and games out of "protest.") Not to mention the problems and connotations with their openness about being interested in high school girls when many otaku are in their late 20s, early 30s or even older. In other words, the people *****ing and moaning about the characters aging instead of being high school students for all eternity are simply idiots. Personally, I see this as a good thing. I can foresee some great character development opportunities as well as a chance at there being an actual story.
Besides, bizarre or not, Toriko is awesome.
I still can't believe that Kampfer was successful enough to get a second season. Last I heard that one was just batshit insanity with no real substance.
As someone who likes Daft Punk, they're an example of a group that knows how to mix visuals and sound. Just look at Tron Legacy, that movie would not have had such a great atmosphere if it weren't for the Daft Punk score. I actually find their work much less entertaining if its not paired with the visuals that go with it. So really, Discovery is best when heard as part of Interstella 5555. Also, Alive 2007 proves that they are much better live.
30 Seconds to Mars is one of the many, many, many generic "emo" pop punk bands out there that don't really do anything to differentiate from the rest of the crowd, relying more on image and the members' attractiveness to bring in new fans than on the music. They are, in fact, quite possibly one of the worst bands of the emo scene I've ever had the misfortune of hearing and if they can't match up to crap like Fall Out Boy or My Chemical Romance, then they're doing something wrong. Not to mention the audacity they have to market their work as progressive rock to try and say "hey! We have depth!" as if just being classified as progressive makes music deep. They fall under many of the same marketing tricks that most modern pop punk or "emo" bands do. They sell their image, not their music, they pretend their work actually means something when it really doesn't (and 30 Seconds to Mars goes even further than most modern pop punk bands do by pretending that they play progressive rock, completely ignoring that early punk came about as a rejection of progressive rock) and they pretend to be a pure punk band to seem edgy. If you want real modern prog rock, go listen to The Mars Volta, Coheed and Cambria or, especially, Children of Nova. If you want pop punk, go listen to Blink 182, Jimmy Eat World or even Green Day.
Its slightly more complicated than that. There are a few somewhat bigger differences. Each version has its own final gym battle (though the battle itself is the same in both versions, the gym leader is different,) Black has more rotation battles than tripple battles, White has more tripple battles and less rotation battles. Black has the Black City, which has battles against trainers with fully evolved out of region Pokemon and shops to buy rare items, while White has the White Forest, where you catch base forms of out of region Pokemon and can find rare items.
You have no idea what "underrated" means. Ratchet and Clank and Jak and Daxter are two of Sony's biggest franchises, same with Little Big Planet, Kingdom Hearts has an incredibly big fanbase and is one Square Enix's main franchises, Lego Star Wars is one of Lucas Arts' main game franchises and every single Burnout title since Burnout 2 has made the both Platinum Hits on XBox and Greatest Hits on Playstation with the exception of Burnout Dominator since that was a minor release on the PSP and PS2 when everyone was waiting for Burnout Paradise. You want actually underrated, look at stuff like Brutal Legend, which has a loyal fanbase, but completely bombed in sales, Tron 2.0, a game that was completely screwed over by the publisher's weak publicizing or Beyond Good and Evil, which has a very similar situation as Brutal Legend.
And now let us weep for the industry when this turns out to be more successful than anything that's actually good in this season (speaking of which, I keep hearing that Infinite Stratos is really good, but nothing else about this season.)
So its a plotless mess of badly animated fanservice with no real characterization to speak of that could have been good due to a great idea for a premise (seriously, the heroes of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms reincarnated in modern times is a great idea, but Ikki Tousen is absolute garbage)?
