I'd pick the KH2 Ultima... Although the KH1 one looks cool, it clearly looks like a white stick with yellow things on it. However, in KH2, it looks like a fly swatter. But it makes very cool colors when you swing it, and MP Hastega is your best friend.
Considering a Desoul has a Heart, Body and Soul, all three can be included in their emblem. They're also incomplete, perhaps more than any other creature ; they have all 3 elements yet still aren't fully complete. So, maybe something similar to a Heart, Soul and Body lacking one half of each other? Or one third of each, making a Tri-Force-like symbol? I'll try to draw something and send it to you... maybe not now, cuz homework is attempting to rip me away from my KH fantasies...
0. For the sake of those game enough to launch themselves into this discussion of ideas, theories, and scientifical nightmares, I've tried to classify my ideas, sub-ideas, sub-sub-ideas, and so on. You'll notice I number my topics, and then use dashes to clearly separate my ideas. EDIT : Before starting to flood my ideas, I'll evaluate some of yours (Pezz). This paragraph is written after the rest, and I told myself I mainly worked on one of your ideas, so I figured I'd talk a bit about the rest. - The Delife/Dessessive/Desire... the one who has thrown away their lives for a goal... this can be interpreted in two ways. Either they gave their life like Xehanort gave away his Heart ; obsessed by something, completely blinded... ...either they purposely sacrificed themselves. Like Sora did, except that we're really talking about death. Maybe like Axel, but he was a Nobody. So, maybe a Desoul can be born out of this? Because the Heart and Soul expected death, maybe they figured a way around it... maybe we can link this to my Point #4 (later in this post). - You said you see the Desoul as a flickering candle. How exactly? Meaning that they can die at any moment (the fire is extinguished), and can't avoid an eventual death (the candle melted fully)? - Living Hearts seek living Bodies and Souls, and dead Hearts seek dead Bodies and Souls. This idea really sparkled my interest... and then followed the rest of my post :) - What about Desocials and Deknowns? Those who lose their sense of self from not being social/being forgotten by society? First, isn't this really similar? They could easily make only one. Secondly, this has to be a pretty serious social problem... everyone has social problems at some point in their life, and I don't think we're all Desouls. Besides ; if something really horrible keeps happening to someone's social life, I really doubt that that person will lose its sense of self DIRECTLY because of this. It might start hating everything, might become paranoid, might become a Heartless... but I'm not too sure about "not being social". The person really needs to hate society, and nothing else... Could you elaborate this idea? 1. I like the fact that Desouls can be born out of different events, leading to different Desouls. The names you've come up with, by playing on words, is also a really good idea. I think we should still have a few Desouls whose names don't begin by "de", though ; it adds originality. 2. If a person's Heartless is defeated before it's Nobody, then the person should come back... but as you said, if the contrary happens, we might have a problem. If the Heart has been freed before the body, it can come back and join its vessel. But if it hasn't, maybe the body and soul just die/become incomplete... and when the Heartless is defeated, then we could get a Desoul! As I said once, the 3 "elements of life" come back "messed up" ; in this case, the Heart finds a deformed Body and Soul. More on that later. - This would explain why the Desoul hasn't yet appeared in the games ; we can say that there hasn't been many occurences where the Nobody perished before the Heartless. - If the Heart is intact, then it can have a "priority" over the Soul and Body. The Soul is fading away, slowly joining the Realm of the Dead, and the Heart's will is the only thing keeping the person alive. And thus, with a deteriorating Heart, and a fading Soul, we get a Desoul. Let's call this " Method "Nobody defeated before Heartless" ". 3. About the incomplete Kingdom Hearts : When Ansem used his ice-cream machine-er... heart encoder to claim Kingdom Hearts as data, I never understood what happened. We can say that either he destroyed KH's will, or at least triggered something which helped the Desouls. - Speaking of which, how the Kingdom Hearts did Riku get his body back? 4. Or... as you said, having a "dead" Kingdom Hearts... alright, creativity just kicked in. I'll pick up where you left off, and bring the concept of a dead Heart to a whole new level : When a Desoul feeds on a Heart's will for too long, or when its own Heart fades into darkness, its will shall be lost. In turn, the Heart itself dies, having lost one of its components : will. The dead Hearts gather in another realm, and create a "dead" Kingdom Hearts-like phenomenon. Anyway, partly based on what you said, this dead Kingdom Hearts could affect the dead. The whole realm of the dead. This could be a new "specie" : the dead ones, those who have only a Soul. No Body, for it remained where they died, and no Heart, because, as strong as it is, it normally can't follow the Soul into the realm of the dead. This... this can be a law of the universe, the law of life. However, the Desouls have a truly awesome, and terrifying power, for they can violate this law and ultimately shatter it. Since they are the only beings capable of "killing" Hearts, they force the dead Heart to ALSO join the Realm of the Dead. Then, the dead Soul encounters its dead Heart... which can cause terrible consequences. - They could make a Body out of darkness, just like the Heartless do. And with that, we our second choice of how a Desoul is born. I shall call this " Method "Dead Soul, Dead Heart, Darkness Body" ". Oh, I think I've got it! - When the Nobody is defeated first, the body is left alone. - When the Heartless is then defeated, the Heart is also left alone, unable to live in a soulless body. - As for the Soul, it's stuck in the Realm of the Dead. But, we can have a Desoul (your name "Devive" comes in really handful here), or even a new specie, appear when... a dead Soul connects to a lone Heart and a lone Body, making a "hybrid" being. How? I'll explain at point 5. Anyhow, we now have a person whose Heart, Soul, and Body come from three dead persons. - This opens a cool door of possibilities : A more powerful Desoul/"new being" appears when the Heart, Body, and Soul come from TWO dead persons instead of one, i.e. one person gave two elements. - In extremely, but really extremely rare cases, a DeSoul/"new being" appears when all 3 elements come from the same person. What does it mean? - A) The person is really powerful. The 3 elements have been separated, then came back together. They all "learned" more about life, and all became much tougher. - B) The person is really weak and frail. The 3 elements have been separated, but in order to reunite, they suffered and barely survived. - C) The person, regardless of its new strength, just comes back. Oh wait. Comes back. COMES BACK. We're talking about someone coming back from anything that happened to it. We've never seen, in the KH universe, how a dead person can revive, but now we know. - And this is what Xehanort/Xemnas/Some new main antagonist is seeking. They either want to revive a lost loved one, or to create an army of extremely powerful soldiers, in order to take over the universe. Or they just want to see how far they can push their research, resulting in chaos. 5. This is basically the continuation of point 4... so, how does a dead Soul emerge from the Realm of the Dead an join its previous Body and Heart? - One idea is that a Desoul causes this. The Desouls can, as we all are discovering, shatter the laws of nature. So they can open a door to the Realm of the Dead, and allow souls to join the other two elements. Once again, they come back "messed up". This is the third method to creat a Desoul I've thought of today... I get dibs on the name! " Method "Dead Soul, Live Heart and Body" ". - The problem is that it doesn't explain how this started. We need a Desoul to have more Desouls. We already thought of ways in which a Desoul can, like a vampire, create others, but those ways were always completented by "natural" Desoul births. Using this idea, we'll be forced to say that a particular individual with enormous will/etc has managed to break the laws of nature for the first time, giving birth to the Desoul race. - Or, a less farfetched idea : The Soul comes from another Desoul (remember, a Desoul has all 3 elements of life). It does not have to be the same Soul which used to live with the Heart and body. As for the Desoul itself, it can be born out of the many ways we've already discussed. Therefore, the end of point 4 is now possible. A pre-existing Desoul provides a Soul to the dead Body and the lonely Heart. This can happen when : - A) The Desoul dies, and its elements are scattered. - B) A very strong Heart senses a Desoul nearby. Determined to remake a living being, it somehow defeats the Desoul and claims its soul. However, it thus leaves another dead body and lonely Heart (the other things coposing a Desoul) lying around. - C) A really determinated scientist/main antagonist somehow does this. He/she forces the Souls to revive Bodies and Hearts... most likely, in the truly sad and desperate objective that follows : trying, over and over, this nature-defying process until all 3 elements of the person it seeks to revive are reunited. The scientist can find the dead body of its friend, and has to hope that the right Heart comes around when the right Soul is extracted from a Desoul. 6. As for the "dead" Kingdom Hearts... well, the dead Hearts can gather there. But what if the living KH communicates with the dead one? Hearts DO communicate at seemignly faster-than-light speed. And voilà , we now have an explanation as to how the Realm of the Dead is accesible. - Also, for more romaticised ideas, this explains posthume communication, i.e. speaking with the dead. This happened to Roxas and Axel... Technically Axel is a Nobody, and lacks a Heart, but as long as we can justify a "door" to the Realm of the Dead, posthume communication remains explainable. 7. The dead Kingdom Hearts could have a name with "de" in it. I only have one idea right now... "Despote Hearts". ... ... Well, a "Kingdom" is a way of ruling something, and so is a "Despotism"... the main difference is that Despotism is more centralised on the supremcay of the leader. It is therefore "worse" by most standards. But, is it really worth it? If anyone has better ideas, feel free to help. 8. ??? (I've thought of so many things while writing these, but can't remember them... well, I gotta try and post this dissertation. Hm... only 1904 words? Don't worry, there's still more to come.) StarSeeker99 P.S. 1 : Thanks for the friend request! P.S. 2 : I humbly apologize to all KH-Vids users whose computers/brains have exploded trying to display/understand this little Reply...
I always picked the Shield and dropped the Staff... but there are some interesting things to point out. As someone said, you can boost Strength and Defense, but not magic. So, Staff is nice to have. Also, the number of items you can carry is affected. I don't remember how ; I just know that having the Shield yields the maximum amount of items. In Final Mix, things changed! It might be a good idea to pick the Staff, because you get the awesome Stun Impact and Ripple Drive really early on. By "early on", I mean you can actually leave Destiny Islands with them.
No no, the huge black heart BEHIND the KH door. By "behind", I don't mean "after it's open", but physically behind the door's structure ; in the realm in which Sora remains. There are black clouds all over the place. But if you look closely, you can see a giant black heart, blending with the clouds.
I noticed it when replaying KH1 after playing KH2. I remembered Nomura saying that the Heart-Shaped Kingdom Hearts wasn't thought of during the 1st game, and that the game's box didn't include it for any particular reason. So I got curoius and watched closely when that huge door appeared. And yes, a huge black heart. Very well hidden. But it could just as well be a simple decoration.
Ok... I gave a lot of ideas, so I'll try to elaborate a few of them. I wrote quite a few things, so be ready for several minutes of reading ;) 1 - The Dehero enemy/boss. - Appearance : Its appearance might depend on the general looks of a Desoul. Since the visual aspect wasn't developed yet, it's hard to imagine it now... but I can be creative and think of something. The DeHero is humulogous to Dark Sora in KH1, and Anti-Sora (as the enemy summoned by Vexen) in KH2. So, if we REALLY lack originalty, we could just have him as a "shadow" Sora. - Powers : First idea : It uses Sora's powers from previous games. This idea comes out of nowhere, and I don't know if we can justify why a Desoul would be able to use its enemy's memories. But, imagine it! In KH2FM, we already have Anti-Sora as an enemy. It's awesome. Now, we can have a FINAL FORM Sora as an enemy. Second idea : Considering it's part of Sora (or whoever's the main character), it could affect him while fighting. Think of it as a Doppelganger, a evil colone of yourself. It tries to suck your energy and take your place in this world or something. So, getting hit by it can cause Sora to be confused, or to go berserk and automatically attack wildly. Inversly, hitting the DeHero could heal Sora, as he absorbs the life force that is rightfully his. Also, I just had a nice idea, but remembered it's already used in Soul Calibur 3. In that game, the Doppelganger is "shadowed", like Shadow Sora. But as he hits you, HE gets "cleared" and you get "darker". - Back story/explanation : The DeHero can be a Desoul with special powers, which he uses to control his enemy's powers. This makes it a fearsome, but "ordinary" opponent. So, my other idea is to make him more special : Have it be born out of Sora's victories... here are a few choices : A) A DeHero is born when an individual with a particularly powerful will is defeated, and becomes a Desoul. In this confused state of existence, with a fading Heart and a fading Soul, a powerful being can hold on to sanity by hatred : by hating the one who defeated it. Remembering its killer's powers, the Desoul learns from them, and learns how to counter them. When, and if, it masters its killer's strength, the Desoul is recognised as a Dehero. B) Similar to A, but instead of being one individual, the DeHero is born when a hero has a series of victories. The hatred left behind in many victims somehow gathers into a single Desoul, which goes through the same process as in A, and becomes a DeHero. C) This one really interests me! It applies to both Deheroes and Desouls. The Dehero is an ordinary hero who struggles with himself. Example : what if Sora was to break down and start losing his sense of self? Suppose Kairi got killed. Sora won't take it lightly... he would probably go insane, and search for a way to bring her back (kinda like many theories concerning Terra and Xemnas). So, following this lead, the Dehero is a human being with an extremely powerful being, who is at war with his own mind. Its soul is slowly tainting itself with evil, and/or is starting to fade away, probably trying to end its suffering by leaving the body and causing death. The Heart is getting tempted by Darkness, but doesn't succumb to it (like Xehanort's Heartless) because that leads to a Heartless. Instead, the Heart's power is uncontrolled, and even the Heart starts fading away, consumed by its own strength. Afterwards, what happens... if the Heart succumbs to darkness, the person become a Heartless. If the Soul fades away too quickly, the person dies. If the Heart is so blinded that it leaves the body, the person becomes a Nobody. I don't know how to get an Unbirth, because if the soul leaves, death should follow... But if the Soul, Body and Heart resist their pain, the person becomes a Desoul, a being that can't be complete, despite having all 3 elements of life. Ok, done with the Dehero... 2. I heard that when a person's Heartless and Nobody are defeated, the person comes back. I fail to remember if it's officially true in KH's story, or if it's just a rumor. True or not, we can justify that when both Heartless and Nobody are defeated, sometimes, the 3 "elements" come back messed up, and a Desoul is born. Therefore, there are several characters who can now become Desouls. We don't know what happened to the Organisation after their deaths, for example. 3. Finally, last idea because I've spent A LITTLE too much time here... Hearts are the source of all power. But, until now, we didn't see a Heart "dying", because it's so strong. It always migrates to another body, unites with Kingdom Hearts, or improvises a way to retain its existence. However, you pointed out that they cna be the greatest threat yet, for they can turn Kingdom Hearts into a Desoul... And I thought of this : The Desouls can somehow DESTROY a Heart, probably by feasting on its will too much. Until now, nothing could do this... and because Hearts are power, losing a Heart means losing an energy the universe will never get back. It's the idea of entropy (meaning that this actually makes scientifical sense!). So, Desouls are the announcement of the end of the universe. They won't cover the worlds in darkness (Heartless), nor will they create a heart-shaped moon which will help them in a way (Nobodies) ; no, they'll just destroy everything. KH players, at your Keyblades. Finally, this post is finished. Was it too much?
If the idea of becoming whole is getting old (which is true), I have some new ideas : 1 - What if the Desouls seek Kingdom Hearts to... find an objective? I mean, if they have no sense of self, maybe they can't really DESIRE something. So they "want" KH's power to be able to desire things. 2 - What if they simply DO NOT seek Kingdom Hearts? 3 - They could be pure evil. Apparently, an Unbirth isn't fully evil, even is it lack a soul. What if a Desoul just wants to cause harm, for no reason? Or, perhaps, because it feeds on the harm it causes... leading me to my next idea : 4 - A desouls feeds on emotions. Therefore, it seeks Hearts, because they have feelings. A Nobody is technically invulnerable to an Desoul, because it lacks a Heart. This would make an interesting gameplay (if this ever makes it into a real game), because Roxas could be stronger than Sora agianst Desouls, because he's some sort of Nobosy (I say "some sort" because he does have a Heart). 5 - Idea for Desoul creautres : They could beign their name with "de". Example on my next point... 6 - Idea for a particular Desoul, which could be a boss : the Dehero. It's basically an Anti-Sora... it takes a form similar to the hero it fights, and uses a part of its powers. someone proposed that Desouls want to steal their victims' bodies, which would make this enemy quite interesting. Ok, I gotta go, I might add new things later. This is StarSeeker99, signing off.
I would like to give a few ideas : The Desoul uses the Heart's will to survive. So, in a way, the Desoul is similar to a lonely Heart having lost its body. Whereas the Hearts *insert Saix accent here* "Gather in Darkness, masterless and free, until they weave together to make... KINGDOM HEARTS Whereas the Heart does that, the Desoul can't, because he has no sense of self. Its mind is fading away too, so it can't think clearly of an objective ; how can it find its way to Kingdom Hearts? How can it join it? So, this bring one possibility : The Desoul seeks to find Kingdom Hearts to become complete, because they are similar to Hearts, save for being able to join Kingdom Hearts. Another option would be that they want Kingdom Hearts in order to acquire its "force of will". If Hearts are the source of all power, and a Heart's will is so strong, then Kingdom Hearts must contain a tremendously powerful will. If the Desouls get their hadns on such will, they could use it to gain a sense of self, to know who they are, to become whole.
To obtain Ripple Drive, you must be level... 69, I think, if you began with the Shield. Also, you MUST unequip the "Blitz" ability (the one where Sora finishes his combo with a vertical swing), because it overrides Ripple Drive. Can't use both. To level up... well, your post WAS 3 weeks ago, so if you still haven't reached level 69, I suggest you just train by visiting every world. I find it better to train this way, because you'll get a lot of Synthesis items (which you'll need, especially from each world's special enemy), and you also get to enjoy the game to its fullest. To get Ultima, I'm afraid I don't know much. In the original KH, you needed 5 Thunder Gems... 3 Gales, 3 Mystery Goos, and 2 other not-too-rare items. Anyhow, we both know that the problem is synthetising EVERY OTHER ITEM, because Ultima is the last one. I still didn't synthethise everything, because I can't find some items... And to have as much MP as possible, I guess that Crystal Crowns are the way to go. In the regular KH, they boosted every stat by a lot. How to synthethise them? I have no clue, sorry. Also, beating Ice Titan at the Coliseum gives you the Diamond Dust keyblade. It has an awesome +3 MP, not to mention it looks very cool. Too bad it has such pitiful strength.
Tyrian! (or Tyrian 2000, it's the same game) It's a straightforward vertical scrooling spaceship shooter game, but it has quite a variety of difficulty levels. Some of which are only unlockable in special modes, etc. etc. Most difficulties are rather easy, and very fun, but then comes the "Engage" mode, where you must complete the game on the hardest difficulty, and with slightly different game rules. I could defeat, as a kid, the game on the "Hard" difficulty. However, the Engage challenge saw me getting annahilated... by the very first enemy in the very first level. I grew up, got a lot better at the game, and as I got past the first level, I realised that the game wasn't hard ; it was damn near impossible. Still beat it though [/brag], not without spening several hours retrying some specific levels. The hardest levels, on this challenge, were like... beating Xigbar Data at level 1, no damage, or doing likewise for Terra without looping him.
Emblemdered is right : It's NOT the Clock Tower, it's Hollow Bastion's castle. Kairi's heart was inside Sora, and Kairi once lived in Hollow Bastion. So when Sora saw the castle, Kairi's heart reacted, and made Sora react as well. Remember : Sora felt the same way when he arrived at Hollow Bastion later on. Only question is how a slide showing that castle got into Deep Jungle...
Unless Synthing counts, I'd say playing the Gamblers' mini-games. They can give a lot of Munny. And a lot of Drive Balls if you're playing FM and using Drive Converter.
Well, this can be a difficult topic. Here are my "coolest" abilities, or that I would like doing in real life ;) Ripple Drive Aerial Finish Magnet Splash Zantetsuken Finishing Leap Round Break Explosion Aerial Dive As for the game itself, I'd say Combo Master is the nicest to have around. Combo Master + Magnet Splash is overpowered. Oh, and Dodge Roll.
Limit Form... which isn't on the list... So my runner-up would be Master Form. Yellow looks nice. Also, being a mix of magic and physical power, Master Form is balanced, and also adds some unique touches.
I go for the ability. It's always far more effective than gaining a few stats. It also makes you use more Keyblades than just looking at STR or MAG, since the many special battles will require you to use many Keyblades. If I don't feel like getting the best efficiency, I just take a Keyblade I like. Usually Star Seeker.
Favorites in KH2 : V. Dearly Beloved (end-game version) IV. 13th Dilemma III. A Fight to the Death II. One-Winged-Angel (if it were the KH1 version, it would be the 1st) I. Deep Anxiety All musics are awesome though, in all games.
Definitely Two Across and Star Seeker. They're just my favorites. Not much strategy in mixing them though... or storyline sense...
All worlds, one after the other, because you can get many synthesis items along the way, and it gets less repetitive. If in Final Mix, then the Cavern of Rememberance.
May I suggest you also put Trinity Limit? It has two partners, but it should still count... There's also the Sora-only Trinity Limit, but that would break the "partner" rule. Anyway, I voted Auron - Overdrive and Riku - Eternal Session. Eternal Session always gave me this impression : Maybe as kids, when dreaming of adventures to come later in their lives, Sora and Riku imagined magic attacks, and actually invented their Limit at the time. When they got their powers, they made their dreams reality and came up with the Eternal Session. With that in mind, I had to vote for it.
