what is DA, well do a screen shot of it, and with the eyedroper tool, find out what color, the forum post background is and use that color

well i can't help you there, here is what one of mine looked like when i did that kinda clear , well on this forum
on every layer, on the outside of the image fill it with white, then Filters>Animation>Playback and it will give you a view of you finished product if you press the play button

Try in the GIMP menu go to the A click where you want to put the text, and in the box that pops up, type the text there, and go to dialogs>layers, and where all the layers are, you see an eye next to them, if the eye isn't there for the text layer, click where the eye should be, if not that try putting it in a different color
