Kingdom Hearts II Final Pete Battle in Timeless River
For the longest time, I've been wondering why sometimes when the scene changes during the final present Pete battle in Timeless River, Donald and / or Goofy appear to take damage.

Two of the three reasons are logical:
- Past Pete falls, causing little damage to them
- Cannons in the Lilliput scene cause knock-back, but no damage
However, the third one, which is another no damage hit, seems to be if they're near present Pete, hence why it doesn't always happen, but I don't understand why.

Watch and pay close attention to Goofy from 7:44 to 7:50 (you'll notice he goes up in the air):

Most of the time you can't see Donald or Goofy during scene changes, so I could never tell where it was from, but now I can and don't understand why.

I should note it also affects past Pete.

What do you guys think?

Many Walmart Employees in Los Angeles Protest Company's Alleged Retaliation
While I don't disagree with the protestors' wants, it's unfortunately unfair to customers who just want to buy things and the like.

Still, I hope they get everything resolved. I don't think it's so much the minimum wage, more that the company's silencing them more or less, which, of course, is illegal.

Hundreds of Wal-Mart workers and those supporting them protested alleged retaliation by the retail giant near a Pico Rivera store Thursday evening, with dozens getting taken into custody by the Sheriff’s Department.

The arrests, which took place where workers sat in an intersection at Paramount and Washington boulevards, followed an earlier sit-in strike at the company’s Crenshaw Boulevard store in Baldwin Hills.

Photos posted by a union on Twitter showed people holding signs with their mouths taped closed inside the store. Photos were being posted from protests nationwide under the hashtag #Walmartstrikers.

“I’m sitting down on strike today to protest Walmart’s illegal fear tactics and to send a message to management and the Waltons that they can’t continue to silence us and dismiss the growing calls for $15 an hour and full-time work that workers are raising across the country,” said striker Kiana Howard in a news release distributed by the national organization OUR Walmart.

A union-supported group of employees, OUR Walmart is calling for Wal-Mart to pay $15 per hour and provide consistent, full-time hours to workers.

In a statement, a spokesman said Wal-Mart was “proud to be a company of opportunity.”

“Our workers have access to unparalleled advancement opportunties, cash bonuses, a 401(k) plan and many other benefits,” said Kory Lundberg, director of media relations for Wal-Mart.

Beginning at 5 p.m. outside the Pico Rivera Walmart on Washington Boulevard, sign-waving workers and supporters of the movement gathered by the hundreds.

Some sat down in a circle in the middle of the busy intersection while Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies held batons and wore helmets. Deputies pulled them to their feet and took them away to be loaded into a bus, video from the scene showed.

A woman who was sitting in the circle said she was willing to get arrested in protest of what she called “retaliation” against her fellow workers.

“We have a lot of associates who spoke up and were fired, and we need to stop it,” the woman said.

“I have two sons and it’s their future that I’m concerned about, mainly. Wal-Mart is setting the trend for all companies,” said the worker, who gave her name as Denise. “If we don’t change it now, the future of our youth is in dire straights.”

One of my uncles on my dad's side passed away yesterday from heart problems, though, unfortunately, I hardly remember him. It was my dad's brother.

Had my mom translate the message about 15 minutes ago because I couldn't make it out yesterday.

Traces of Fukushima Radiation Detected Off California Coast
Thankfully, they're very low levels, and I hope they're working on a plan to get rid of it. People in California should be cautious of the ocean for a while.

On another note, it's certainly amazing how far particles can travel and how long they can stay alive. I mean, this happened back in 2011 and on the other side of the world.

Extremely low levels of radioactive cesium from Japan's 2011 Fukushima nuclear meltdown are present in ocean water offshore Northern California, researchers announced Monday (Nov. 10).

In seawater collected about 100 miles (161 kilometers) offshore of Eureka, the amount of cesium-134 was 2 Becquerels per cubic meter of water (a unit of measure based on the number of radioactive decay events per second per 260 gallons of water). That's about 1,000 times lower than the drinking water limit set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

This level of radioactivity does not represent a health hazard for people who want to fish or swim in the area, said Ken Buesseler, a marine chemist at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts, who helped analyze the seawater. Buesseler is leading a crowdfunded citizen science program to track cesium levels from the meltdown by collecting water samples along the U.S. and Canadian West Coast.

A swimmer who spent 6 hours every day for a year in water with 10 Becquerels per cubic meter of cesium-134 would still receive 1,000 times less radiation than the dose from a single dental X-ray, Buesseler said. "Now, we have measurements that confirm that for human health, when a mother from Santa Cruz calls me and asks if it's safe for my son to go surfing, we have far fewer concerns," he said.

To date, no cesium-134 has been found at Canadian or U.S. beaches, including those in Hawaii, Alaska, Washington, Oregon and California. The short-lived isotope has only been detected offshore.

Cesium-134 does not occur on its own in nature — only forming in nuclear reactors — and it has a short two-year half-life. These qualities make cesium-134 an ideal tracer of the pollution from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant meltdown following the 2011 Japan earthquake and tsunami. The new results also support fish sampling results from the Food and Drug Administration, Buesseler said. To date, the FDA has not detected radioactive iodine or cesium in fish caught in the North Pacific and Alaska waters, where currents carry the Fukushima pollution.

It's possible that cold currents that upwell along the West Coast, especially along California, may keep the eastward-flowing cesium-134 from reaching beaches for several more months, but researchers need more data to confirm this idea.

"It's not a public health threat, but those last 100 miles are pretty tricky," Buesseler said.

It costs about $550 to $600 to test each sample at Buesseler's lab. No federal or state research agencies have stepped in to help offset the costs, so public fundraising pays for the analyses.

The latest samples were collected on donated time during a research cruise from Dutch Harbor, Alaska, to Eureka, California, by the Moss Landing Marine Laboratories in California. LUSH Cosmetics donated $12,000 to test 24 water samples, but another 20 or so samples are still sitting, waiting for someone to underwrite the cost.

Buesseler will present the findings Thursday (Nov. 13) at the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry's annual meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Kingdom Hearts II Second Chance for Goofy

According to this FAQ, Goofy doesn't get Second Chance until you save the Interceptor during the first visit to Port Royal, so how is it possible that Goofy survived Pete's second pound attack in Timeless River here? That's before Port Royal.

Woodbridge High School - 16-Year-Old Student Fatally Shot
Ugh! When are these shootings going to stop? That makes the area's fifth shooting this year! I really hope they can at least lower the number of shootings. It's tragic.

My condolences not only go out to the student's family, but also past incidences unrelated to this.

Police have identified a Woodbridge High School student who was shot and killed Monday afternoon in Lake Ridge as 16-year-old Brenden Wilson.

Police late Monday were searching for three suspects, described only as two black males and a white male. They were seen fleeing the area in a pickup truck of unknown make and color. Detectives were still trying to determine a motive for the crime.

Residents in the area said they thought they heard fireworks or explosions. Then the sirens started.

“I was walking with a friend on a nearby school track when I heard what sounded like seven shots in quick succession followed by an eighth,” said one neighborhood resident who didn’t want her name published.

Another resident said the path, known as "the cut," is a popular hangout for students, and residents have complained to police about teens lingering there, as well as leaving trash.

On Monday afternoon, police set up a command post in the high school parking lot, and school officials temporarily put both the high school and adjacent Old Bridge Elementary School in "secure the building" mode. One parent said baseball tryouts and drumline students were in the school at the time.

Track students running on Valleywood Drive also heard the shots.

Brenden Wilson's death is Prince William County’s fifth murder of the year.

On Oct. 19, Jessica Leigh Wilson (no relation to Brenden Wilson) was shot to death in the driveway of her Bristow home. The next day, her boyfriend was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound outside T. Clay Wood Elementary School.

In July, police charged 31-year-old Brandon Curtis Hampton Henry with stabbing two people, one fatally, during a gathering in Dale City,

In May, a 19-year-old Woodbridge man was charged with stabbing a 22-year-old Dumfries man to death on his front porch.

And police are still trying to find the three men who shot and killed a young mother working at Platanillo's Grocery in Woodbridge earlier this year.

China Suspected of Breaching US Postal Service Computer Networks
This only seems to have affected employees for the obvious reasons, which is unfortunate (employees) and fortunate (customers) at the same time.

If you work at a postal service, keep an eye on your accounts and report any possible fraud or fraud-like things.

Chinese government hackers are suspected of breaching the computer networks of the United States Postal Service, compromising the data of more than 800,000 employees.

The intrusion was discovered in mid-September, said officials, who declined to comment on who was thought to be responsible. The FBI is leading the investigation into the hack.

The news, announced by U.S. Postal Service, came as President Obama arrived Monday in Beijing for high-level talks with his counterpart, President Xi Jinping, as well as for an economic summit.

The Chinese government has consistently denied accusations that it engages in cybertheft and notes that Chinese law prohibits cybercrime.

Intrusions were discovered earlier this year into systems of the Office of Personnel Management and of a contractor, USIS, that conducts security-clearance checks. Both cases were also linked to China, said individuals familiar with the investigations.

The United States has elevated cybersecurity as a top issue in the bilateral relationship with China, and senior officials now raise it every time they meet with their counterparts in Beijing.

The intrusion was carried out by “a sophisticated actor that appears not to be interested in identity theft or credit card fraud,” USPS spokesman David Partenheimer said.

“It is an unfortunate fact of life these days that every organization connected to the Internet is a constant target for cyber intrusion activity,” Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe said in a statement. “The United States Postal Service is no different. Fortunately, we have seen no evidence of malicious use of the compromised data and we are taking steps to help our employees protect against any potential misuse of their data.”

The compromised data included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, addresses, dates of employment and other information, officials said. Every employee from the letter carrier to the postmaster general was exposed.

But no customer credit card information from post offices or online purchases at usps.com was breached, they said.

While the OPM and USIS breaches involved data of people who had gone through security clearances and so could be useful to a foreign government seeking to gain access to individuals in sensitive government work, it is not clear why Postal Service employees would be of such interest.

But some analysts say that targeting a federal agency such as the post office makes sense for China as an espionage tool. For one thing, the Chinese may be assuming that the U.S. Postal Service is more like theirs — a state-owned entity that has vast amounts of data on its citizens, said James A. Lewis, a cyber-policy expert at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Second, he said, the trend in intelligence is the same as in the commercial sector: amass big sets of data that can be analyzed for previously unknown links or insights.

“They’re just looking for big pots of data on government employees,” Lewis said. “For the Chinese, this is probably a way of building their inventory on U.S. persons for counterintelligence and recruitment purpose.”

Such data may also be helpful in non-cyber espionage, said Steven Chabinsky, a former FBI official and now chief risk officer for CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity firm. “It’s not all about hackers. Having information about real live people could help them with on-the-ground operations.”

It is also possible that the Chinese were after other types of data, analysts said. For instance, the U.S. Postal Service, at the request of law enforcement officials, takes pictures of all addressing information from envelopes and parcels.

The U.S. government has strongly urged the Chinese to refrain from hacking U.S. companies to steal corporate secrets that can benefit Chinese industries. This case appears to be more like traditional espionage, which is what the United States engages in with respect to China.

Still, “it’s perfectly appropriate for us to do everything we can to embarrass and punish the Chinese if they’re in our systems, whether or not we’re in theirs,” said former National Security Agency general counsel Stewart A. Baker. “It’s the case that the U.S. and Russia and other countries are much more cautious about getting caught because they think there are going to be consequences. It’s only the Chinese that think there are no consequences to getting caught.”

The Postal Service was notified of the breach by the FBI and other federal agencies in mid-September. Planning to deal with the hack began immediately, but the actual remediation did not take place until the weekend.

“Acting too quickly could have caused more data to be compromised,” Partenheimer said.

New safeguards were put in place over the weekend to try to prevent future compromises, he said. That process caused intermittent system outages and slowed the delivery of external e-mail, he said.

The Department of Homeland Security’s Computer Emergency Readiness Team helped with the mitigation, as it did with the OPM and USIS hacks.

The Postal Service breach needs to be seen as part of a continuous series of efforts to target the government, experts say. “It shows the continuing proposition that no matter how many billions of dollars the federal government puts in place and no matter how many regulations U.S. agencies put in place, the federal government remains as vulnerable as the private sector,” Chabinsky said.

The breach also affected the data of customers who contacted the Postal Service Customer Care Center via phone or e-mail between Jan. 1 and Aug. 16, officials said. The data affected included names, e-mail addresses and phone numbers, but not social security numbers, they said. Officials said they did not believe customers needed to take any action as a result of that.

However, FBI spokesman Joshua Campbell said any suspected instances of identity theft should be reported to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov.

The postal service began notifying employees on Monday. The agency is providing free credit-monitoring services for one year.

House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Committee Ranking Member Elijah E. Cummings (D-Md.) on Monday requested details on the intrusion. “The increased frequency and sophistication of cyber-attacks upon both public and private entities highlight the need for greater collaboration to improve data security,” he said in a letter to Donahoe.

Internet Outages Are Stupid

So I opened my browser earlier at 7:48 AM, and while waiting for everything to load, I left my bedroom for something. I came back about two or three minutes later, and everything was loaded, but the Internet went down at that same time and it just recently came back online about 10 minutes ago.

So if you're wondering why I got online and then disappeared suddenly, that's why.

Keyboard Protector Help

One of the things I will be having my mom get me is a wired keyboard and mouse set. The current wireless keyboard and mouse I'm getting tired of. I have to frequently replace the battery in my wireless mouse, but that's not really the issue. The bigger issue is that my wireless keyboard, for whatever reason, will sometimes stop working or the typing will lag before it stops working completely and I have to keep moving it around until it starts working again and I have to keep doing that over and over until it finally works flawlessly again. It's been even worse with my current computer desk placement, but I've had my desk here before, so I don't know what the issue is, especially considering my mouse doesn't have this issue, and it's the same distance away from the USB receiver plugged into the back of my computer.

Anyway, I need some help. For the longest time, I've just been using shrink-wrap plastic to protect my keyboard, but I want to get an actual keyboard protector and don't know which one to get because my mom said keyboard protectors won't work with or fit all keyboards and I need the one for that specific keyboard.

Would this work? It says "Accessory and fits for AmazonBasic wireless keyboard KT-1081A for Android devices." It says AmazonBasic, which is what the bundle I'll be getting is, but I'm not sure about the Android part.

Had a Nice Dinner

My birthday's tomorrow, but we had dinner tonight because my aunt will be busy tomorrow, but wanted to participate.

Had my usual French Dip, but instead of a Bud Light like I've had each time I've had a beer, I tried a Corona, which is supposed to be tastier.

Oddly enough, I never once felt out of it. My mom thinks I may have drunk my Bud Light kind of fast last year, so it got to my head faster. I was even fine enough to drive home.
