for da DUNDABADGE
The breakfast of champions.
This is where the drama's at
Your jokes are awful
She was picking a mag and dressed oblique She called me baby, and was a mean lady with the song on the radio So I told her I was rich, then she asked could I use a dirty bitch? (Of course. ~)
"What's up People!!" and "Zetsubou Billy." Maximum the Hormone doesn't sound like that in the least.
We're so hard on them. I kind of like looking back on those old threads. "Pokemon Soul Silver" by Lil Woj. Whoo, that was a good thread for me. I was havin' fun.
That I make something closely resembling a pad Make a list of everything I need and go to Home Depot Even though the checkout girl called me nuts, What does she know!?
every single one of my systems I've tried to play in the past few months has turned out to be broken, malfunctioning, or otherwise unplayable. This includes my Wii, 360, PS3, and PSP. I'm afraid to so much as touch my DS, as I half expect it to explode in my hand.
Ohhhh yes. This is gonna be a good summer. <3
[I know, two TV threads in one night. Whatevs.] PPGs are tossed in a large square hole with Harry Pitt, who has 'cooties'. PPGs are deathly afraid of said 'cooties'. Harry chases them around the room, eventually cornering Blossom. As he approaches, she faints, a la classical damsel in distress. ...Uh, BLOSSOM? I HOPE THIS ISN'T ALSO YOUR RESPONSE TO RAPE. YOU HAVE LASER EYES AND ELEMENTAL BREATH; PLEASE USE THEM.
Basic summary: - Why the hell is this on Nicktoons? First Shippuuden on Disney XD, now this. But of course CN had time to pick up the rights to Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's. The view must look spectacular from inside their own asses. - As promised, scenes are tighter and the show moves a lot more quickly. Show this to people who actually haven't seen DBZ, it'll be easier to get them into it. - I still miss Ocean's Raditz. "LET ME SHOW YOU HOW IT'S DONE!" In fact, I miss their Piccolo and Goku, too. (Did you know Ocean hired Kirby Morrow to do Goku for the Canadian dub? Yeah, Miroku. He's actually a really good Goku.) - I've heard both the English "Special Beam Cannon" and the original "Makkankosappo" on separate occasions. Please pick one, Funi; I really don't care which. - Music... Eh. I'm sorry, but I adored Faulconer's work; you couldn't beat that out of me. Everything else is sub-par after that. - Colleen Clinkenbeard (Esther Blanchett, Monkey D. Luffy) as kid Gohan. He's gone from one woman to another, and this one sounds even less like a guy. Is it bad that I find it more appropriate? W/e, love you Colleen <3 - Chris Sabat was half of the voice cast before. Now he's three-fourths. AND HE PLAYS EVERY PART THE SAME. He has a thing for talking to himself. - They completely nixed the Home for Infinite Losers. Just cut the whole scene out. I... I'm not sure how to feel about this. - Goku has better jokes. And by 'better' I mean he's gone from 'kindergarten cutting-edge' to 'Stephen Wright on a bad day'. I need gas money, maybe I should sell my car too. In general, the dub cast sounds like they're not really taking this seriously. I can't decide if it's campy or if they've just lost their edge, but it's kind of turning this into "Hey, if you missed DBZ, here's the SparkNotes." I'm not really hating it, but they've got some key scenes over the horizon; if their performances aren't stellar, they're gonna kill the whole thing. Is Sean Schemmel still ally to good, nightmare to Frieza? Guess this could be the official DBK thread (if there isn't one), but I didn't think it was worth it.
So, I'd really like to find a program that allows me to download/copy/otherwise (legally) acquire websites for offline viewing. The specific site in question is TVTropes, but I'm sure I'll find other uses for it. At any rate, would somebody know/recommend a program in particular?
Because, KH-V, I'd like to think we are on reasonably good terms and I think we should share what's good between us. Also, I recommend the Port Town mix. It's my favorite <3
C'mon, where my dogs at? Show me some love.
I'ma be gone from Spamzone for a spell. Well, gone from most of the forum proper, really. I mean, I have been already. But like... on purpose now. Fuck, this'd be a full-blown departure, in the proper thread and everything, but I have obligations to The Grimoire so I have to keep an eye on that. But you prolly won't see me around here or MSN much. If there's a 'me' left to see. I wonder if 'Nova' is even here. I think he up and left. Oh, and don't ask me what happened. I'll tell you if I want you to know.
I would say this falls squarely between Literature and Discussion, but since the Literature section seems to be reserved mostly for discussion of actual literature, I decided to post it here. Please move it if it's called for. First off, an explanation. TVTropes explains both concepts better than I ever could, but to summarize: Deconstruction is the (typically darker-than-usual) use of a classic idea/setting/archetype/etc. in such a way as to expose its flaws and, usually, show how unrealistic and how much of a bad idea it is; where reconstruction takes into account the flaws exposed by deconstruction and attempts to retool the classic tale in such a way that is nostalgic to fans and acceptable to critics. Because of its nature, De/Re is a huge part of American artistic culture, as it appeals to our desire to pick everything apart and seek a complete understanding of our subject matter. Superhero comics have been (and still are) fiercely subject to De/Re: Watchmen and Sandman are two exemplary comics, and many DC/Marvel hallmarks have been De/Re'd both through their major plotlines and through various auxiliary media (See Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth). There are many authors who use De/Re regularly, including Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman; Moore is considered by some to have pioneered the De/Re practice, in fact. Of course, De/Re is not exclusive to America. Anime took to deconstruction pretty early, the outstanding example being Neon Genesis Evangelion (which is a Genre Deconstruction of giant mecha series and several cliche anime archetypes). Consider also Berserk, Darker Than Black, and Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle. Reconstruction was practically instant in this culture as well; Gao Gai Gar, for example, was expressly an immediate reaction to Evangelion. Good fanfictions will also make use of De/Re to provide a fresh perspective on old characters or make their situations darker/more serious. For an example on our home turf, see "A Sorrow of Magpies" by Luc Court, an origin story of the Organization XIII told from the perspective of Even/Vexen. (Unfortunately, certain details have recently been shot down by canon, but it's still a good read.) Personally, this is one of my favorite literary devices. It turns several genres that would otherwise have dropped off the face of the Earth into phoenixes, constantly shedding their weaknesses and flourishing again with the help of prominent authors in the genre. Reading De/Re works also stimulates creativity, as it forces both the writer and the reader to examine the finer points of fiction. So yeah, discuss. Why you like/dislike it, where you've seen it, where you want it to be, etc.
I have a very important announcement to make. As of April 19th, 2010, I am now officially a browncoat.
