I'll give out my devices' manufacturer and model too. I use a HP Mini 311 netbook for going on KHV, and I use my HTC Aria smartphone for whenever I don't have a wifi connection. Tethering my Aria's 3G connection to my netbook is currently not possible thanks to AT&T.
Pointing an over-the-shoulder projector onto a surface seems to me like too much work to do everyday simple tasks. Imagine using a full keyboard on your arm, with display. It does not sound very revolutionary to me, it looks very similar to the PlayStation Move game controller. I could see this technology used in classrooms as a teaching utility, in place of a regular video projector, but not as a convenient over-the-shoulder device.
I have never cried during a video game, movie or book but a few video games that I found particularly saddening/emotional include: Shadow of the Colossus Braid Silent Hill 2 These are also among my list of favorite video games.
I am extremely happy with my netbook computer. It's also just as big as a notebook; I take it everywhere I go and it does everything I need a computer for. So the question for me isn't, "What can I do on a tablet that I can't already do on my netbook?", but, "How will a tablet be a benefit to my own convenience?" It's the same thing with PCs (Linux, Windows, Macs), or other devices. Just like the person whose blog post I linked to, I probably won't find tablets all that useful or convenient until I've actually used one for myself. Convenience is probably the sole good reason to use a tablet, but they are definitely not something that's going to replace my netbook computer anytime soon; I can't imagine programming or writing an eight-page essay on one. Anyways, it's ultimately up to each individual whether or not buying or using a tablet is worth it.
I too have a fondness for Glaswegian Scottish accents for some reason. I could listen to people speak with this accent it all day, even if I can't understand what they're saying.
iPads or other tablets have never had much appeal for me; my solid netbook is enough for all my computer needs. Even if I thought I needed/wanted an iPad, its price tag is too expensive for me justify any seeming benefits I would gain from buying one, especially considering what I could do with that money instead. Here's a link to a wonderful article by someone who received an iPad as gift, and her impressions of it: click here! Also, may I add, tablets seem like expensive toys; not something you would use to get any serious work done, but they may actually be great entertainment devices.
"That's Gay" I hear this derogatory saying everywhere I go. I'm gay myself, and I can't help but feel alienated every time I hear this. When I brought up the fact that I don't appreciate this saying to a friend, he responded, "It's just another way of saying stupid." People Asking Me if I Have a Girlfriend A lesser pet peeve of mine, I don't blame people for being curious, or not knowing that I'm gay, but I think if you ask someone if they have someone special, you shouldn't assume they're straight. "Alot" This is not a word in the English language. Smug Cults Examples include some vegetarians (I am a vegetarian, but I think pride is indeed a vice), and the cultist following behind Apple Inc. and their products. I find it irritating when someone behaves like they're royalty, superior, or part of some exclusive club just because they own, use, or do something others don't. I admit sometimes I can get smug about things like my own vegetarianism, especially when defending it as a valid and healthy diet, though as of late I have tried stopping this.
So I guess it comes down to personal preference on how you want to enjoy a book. I just don't enjoy it when someone disapproves of e-book readers or audiobooks as valid mediums for written works.
Like others, I have heard of this movie but have not seen it. Although I'm curious, I think I could live without watching another gross-out movie; I would rather watch something else. To be honest, watching it just to get your curiosity satisfied doesn't seem worth it.
This quote is from my post here; it explains why I don't have a problem with e-readers, or audiobooks. Just a question, have you ever tried reading a book on an e-reader? They're light in your hand(s), and you never have to worry about what page you're on. They're lovely, especially for textbooks, even though current e-readers don't officially support them.
I recently got a Nook, and I love it. The Nook is a great convenient reading device; it actually encourages reading. I'm currently reading Blood Meridian, by Cormac McCarthy. I borrowed it as an e-book from my public library. Next, I'm planning to read Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind.
I'm glad that you have been able to rip the FMVs. I believe that Aqua's ending was changed from a FMV in the Japanese version to being rendered in real-time in subsequent releases.
I would think it impossible to be able to analyze whether or not companies are gaining a net benefit as a result of piracy. A good study has reliable numbers. Having any numbers at all on how many people are pirating a product, how many of those pirated copies lead to purchases, and how many of those pirates would have purchased it otherwise, would all be mostly guess work. I laughed at the "Don't get me wrong," line, you were coming off as a saint. To pirate, or to not pirate, a balancing act between one's conscience and convenience. I've realized that that last sentence can apply anywhere: To vegan, or not to vegan, a balancing act between one's conscience and convenience.
You can download lossless rips of the intro and opening here and here. If you still want to extract them yourself, BBS's FMV files are stored on the UMD as PMFs within DAT files. If you can manage to copy the UMD disc to your computer's hard drive, the FMVs can be easily extracted using UMDGen and this tool. To demux the resulting PMF files and decode the audio requires fiddling with the command-line with a few other programs, which include Sonic Stage, HIMDRenderer, and PMF[Video][Audio]Dumpers. Here's a link to a good guide.
Was the wrong numbering the fault of my extractor?
You have to be especially careful when batch processing. ;)
This movie was like a guilty pleasure. This movie, filled with all its hot characters and comedy about sex, I find it hard to believe I saw it on ABC Family. It caught me at the very beginning, with its characters dancing to a cheerleading routine. None of the them even care for cheerleading, only about winning, and they practice and do their routines with such enjoyable energy, that I forgave the movie's clichés and 2-dimentional characters. They even smile while they do a performance with the worst possible routine. For me, the movie's lowest point was the ending, maybe one cliché too much, where the two rival characters suddenly "just understand each other, that's all," after one encounter after another of dumb misunderstandings.
Has no one else noticed that the individual clips in the Japanese floors/basements are chronologically out of order?
I take back what I said about being obligated to get a divorce. If your spouse can't take care of him/herself, you should have a legal say on what happens to them, like what medical procedures will be allowed to have done to them.
I went back looking through some of the posts in this thread. I don't get the dock + taskbar + desktop shortcuts setup some people have. I've never seen a taskbar on Windows so short since Windows Classic. Do people really live in their computers? It's like you were told to clean your room, and stuffed most of your junk in the closet. I don't like using docks but look at all of those colorful icons!
