    Ed It Out

Black. An empty sea of black. Then a lone beam of light. That was light, wasn’t it? The man had fainted. He was just now coming to. He lay on his side, head resting on a surfaced root. His eyes fluttered open. Their view was blocked by his sword, still protruding from the ground. He turned his head toward the light. A slight glimmer had found its way through twisted limbs and shifting leaves of the old tree.

Light. It had become his weakness, his enemy so long ago. Now it stirred something inside him. Familiar feelings. Feelings he had long forgotten in a mere eight days, or was it now nine? Joy. Love. Sadness. The pain. It came to him now, like a massive wave crashing against every fiber of his body.

He wrenched from the pain, keeping his teeth clenched in order to suppress the urge to scream. There could still be beasts near. He rolled down the slight incline from the tree. Just as he was covered in the blanket of the forest’s darkness once again, the pain started receding. His muscles no longer tensed and he was able to lift himself to his hands and knees.

The feelings had been forgotten again. He could only remember the pain he had just endured. Instead, those feelings were replaced by an emptiness. An all too familiar emptiness. That pain... it had filled the emptiness.

The man remained motionless. Is that pain worth escaping this emptiness? He looked over to where the light still peeked through the treetop. He had lived in the world of light before. Could I face it again? He slowly made it to his feet, only stumbling slightly. We walked up to his blade. He grasped its dark handle. For a moment, he just stood there as doubtful thoughts began to cloud his mind.

This sword... My sword... I’ve caused more destruction than it ever could. There’s no way I could ever go back to the way things were. His grip tightened, his head lowered. I can’t face that pain again. But memories were also flooding his mind. Not exactly memories, but shadows of them. There was more than the pain. His head wasn’t being clear. He couldn’t sort through the chaos.

Just then, it came to him. My heart! He had one once. He still had one, didn’t he? It was never wrong. It always told him the truth. Always. His mind had brought him to this place. His mind had caused this life of solitude. But how could he awaken something that was submerged in his own darkness?

The light... It tried to penetrate the darkness, right? He released his sword and looked at the sunspot made on the ground. He brought his hand up slowly and let the beam hit his palm. It came back. The pain came back. But he did not withdraw his hand, though his fingers had slightly curled in reaction to the overwhelming sensation. I have to accept it. It is the only way to return to life.

But he could not accept it. The pain was too great. He brought his hand to his chest and clenched it with his other. It felt as if a spear had driven through it. He grabbed his sword again and the feeling subsided. Is this what he had come to? Becoming a fiend of the darkness, like so many he had slain? He lifted the dark blade and admired its power. You’ve never left my side, old pal. But...

He walks away from the tree. His sword left jutting out of its charred trunk.

OOC: lol, twi. you acting like someone who doesn't like to write is like me acting like someone who isn't funny. :D speaking of which...

Cloud sits down in his next class. And I was just getting into my rp story. What I did over the summer... I shoplifted, vandalized the neighborhood park, terrorized some little kids... "I worked at a boring job," is what Cloud writes and puts his pencil down. Ain't like I'm gonna fail because of this one stupid paper. He lays his head down and waits for class to end.

on the contrary, ~tReAh867~, i think marriage and sex are quite equal on the importance scale. you shouldn't marry someone with just any old reason just like you shouldn't sleep with someone for any old reason. and i know i probably won't change anyone's own opinion on this topic. marriage is a leap of faith, that's how it should be. i think its possible for people to feel completely at one with each other without sex (even before marriage). giving yourself to someone is the ultimate reward for humans. its suppose to be the most sacred act you perform. neither marriage or sex is to be taken lightly. (i hope im not contradicting myself, im having a hard time collecting my thoughts today...)

its like i said in one of my other posts, why would i consider sleeping with someone if i couldnt even consider marrying them? and without the commitment of marriage, it wouldnt feel like we were really unified as one (which is high on my list of what i want with a life partner). idk, its hard to explain. i really dont see a plus side to premarital sex.
