"You can ask her yourself, if you're so interested," Edward replied, trying to sound polite.
Edward frowned. "There's no one here that knows anyone by that name," he spoke. "So you'd best leave."
"And what exactly are you looking for?" Edward asked, trying to ignore the smell of blood in the air that bothered him more in huan form.
Edward cocked his head to the side, his breath catching in his throat just as it had steadied. "She's a good person, if that's what you mean," he began slowly. "And if you don't want me to do worse to you than Jake, I'd just let her be."
Edward turned, phasing quickly so he could stand speak aloud. He could see Beatrice just in the shadows, but nothing else. "Who's there?" he asked quietly, wiping the blood off his chin.
I don't care, Edward said, smiling, showing all his teeth before he sunk them into the thick, muscled sinew of the werewolf's neck, pulling, biting until Jake's head fell off and rolled and hit the nearest tree. Edward staggered back, collapsing down onto his stomach, breathing heavily and coughing a half-bark into the dirt. Come out, Beatrice, he whispered, gagging up pieces of flesh and gouts of blood onto the grass.
That's just too bad for you, isn't it? Edward replied. Anything else before I rip your head off?
It doesn't matter anymore, Edward retorted, biting deep into Jake's neck again. Move any farther and I'll rip off your head and just be done with it.
Edward howled, the pain biting deep into his veins. He threw Jake off him, smashing him against the nearest tree. Shutting out any other thought in his mind, he slashed his claws and teeth into Jake's arm, ripping fur, skin, even muscle and bone, the grinding of the flesh against his throat making his stomach churn. But he ignored the feeling, tearing the rest of the limb off the other werewolf, tossing it aside against another tree. How does dying slowly sound to you? he growled in his mind, blood dripping off his teeth.
Edward lunged forward once more and took a swipe at Jake's face, catching his right cheek with his claws. Again, the blood that seeped through the werewolve's fur made him happy... almost elated at the sight. I already told you I'm not going to tell you anything.
Edward padded backward, limping slightly on one arm. Damn you, Lestat, he growled to himself. I can't heal quickly anymore because of your damn venom. She'd be more happy with me if I let you go, I think, he began at Jake now. You'd best leave.
I'm not telling you anything; you're too low and pathetic to hear anything about me, Edward replied, dragging his claws slowly across Jake's neck, enjoying the growl of pain that issues from his mouth. This will be easier than I thought.
Edward growled, lunging forward until he slammed into Jake, pinning him underneath him, his teeth inches from his throat. You're very stupid, he snapped, his voice hot and piercing in his own ears. Stupid enough to speak, to act, to even think you could interfere with my friends. I ought to kill you right now.
Being a coward, are you? Edward snapped in the hunter's mind. I'm going to kill you for touching her.
Oh, keep moving, Edward snarled to himself, running faster now to catch up with the hunter.
Edward finally caught the other werewolf's scent now, and padded slowly in the direction. He's going to be easy, he thought angrily.
Edward lifted his nose in the air, smelling it carefully, trying to find the hunter purposefully. What a coward, he thought angrily. He damn well knows I'm out here.
Lestat? Edward tried. What's happened? But he got no response, no connection felt in his mind. He cried out suddenly, gripping his stomach through his new, soft shirt. "Here..." he said slowly, pulling off the shirt and throwing it at Van Helsing. "Put that in my... room, please... I've got to go..." And Edward turned, walking as quickly as he could out the front door of the inn, sprinting once his face hit the cold, night air. I can't hear them... he thought, his anger amplified by the moon. They must be too far away or... something... He sprinted faster now, bursting into fur and sharp teeth before he gave the transformation more than a second thought.
"Well, I've-" Edward began, and stopped himself, swallowing another stab of a howl that ran through his body. "I... have to go outside soon... you'd do best to stay away from me, though."
"I'm fine," Edward spoke behind Van Helsing, happy he made the man jump. "She'll be safe."
