"But it's understandable, isn't it?" Edward smiled. "You shouldn't be so trusting all the time."
"None of us are anymore besides one," Edward added. "Though, with all due respect, I don't feel like I should completely trust you with all our information."
"Ah, yes," Edward said with a smile. "I've forgotten that was the best way to deal with this. Oh, and what's so interesting about Jinx?" he added to Michael.
"Yeah," Edward laughed through a sigh. "Have fun with that one."
"Possibly," Edward began. "He still hasn't gotten over me keeping secrets from him, so this may be even harder."
"What is Van Helsing going to think now?" Edward muttered quietly to Beatrice.
"I'll speak with her for you," Edward began toward Michael. "And then we'll see what will happen."
"It's up to you," Edward said to Beatrice. "I guess I should be by myself, to keep you safe. Thought I doubt, with Lestat's blood in you, I could do any unwanted harm."
"I'm fine," Edward sighed, nodding slightly at Michael. "Really."
Edward managed a smile, putting an arm around Beatrice. "I guess you're right," he muttered.
Edward swallowed a growl, his stomach churning again, his skin beginning to itch. "I told you I'd maybe think about it, alright?"
"Interesting," Edward said half-heartedly, looking down at Beatrice. "But I don't see how you can be concerned with or involved with either of us or our group. I'm sorry, but the other... lycan, as you call her, isn't willing to speak with you and, frankly, I'm very protective of her."
"Isn't it?" Edward said with a grin. "Yes... I hear your thoughts."
"Yes," Edward said with a small smile, ignoring Michael. "Don't look if it bothers you."
"Yes," Edward agreed. "We all have similar wants and goals, so were are all together. But we never meant for this to happen to Beatrice."
Edward sighed, putting a protective arm around Beatricce's shoulders. "I don't take care of her," he spoke. "Others do... in our group."
"She's... fragile," Edward began slowly. "A newborn... she hasn't done anything wrong. Never touched a human."
"I might think about it," Edward sighed. "But I think you're frightening my friend. Let Beatrice go."
"She is in a place where she can survive," Edward began slowly. "That's all that matters and all you need to know."
"Is that what you are?" Edward began. "I know someone like you," he tried, his voice slow. "How do you do it? Live like you are?"
