Okay, here's the scoop. This place is deader than it should be, especially with such diverse musical tastes on the forums. So let's get things hopping, huh?

In the Music Trade/Request/Review Thread, you MAY...

    * Recommend a song or artist to a specific user. If you've tried and failed to contact somebody and they've just got to hear this new song you like, or you want to gauge a distant acquaintance's musical tastes, toss something up for consideration. Don't be shy!

    * Put forth a song or artist for the forum at large to check out. I'm really hoping for some give-and-take here, so if you've checked something out from the thread, try and put up something of your own! Doesn't have to match the genre, or the theme... You don't even have to think it's as good as what you listened to! Could be something someone wants to hear, you never know.

    * Request a song or artist, or music of a certain genre. If you hear something in a Youtube video and you don't know where it comes from, or you just want to hear more music of a specific kind, you can make a request. Anyone can respond to a request in-thread or, obviously, through any other medium. Although, if you do make a request, be courteous and keep an eye out for other requests you may be able to fulfill.

    * Review someone else's recommendation. If you check something out that someone else posted, recommend it yourself! Write a review, just say you liked it, what ever you please. Now, your review can be negative, but please keep in mind the rules below when writing a negative (or, preferably, critical) review. It's possible to dislike something without being mean about it.

In the Music Trade/Request/Review Thread, you MAY NOT...

    * Insult anyone's music or taste in music. I'm only gonna say this once, and you need to heed it (even if you don't agree with it) if you're going to post in this thread; because in here, it is not an opinion, it is a rule. Your taste in music is not superior to anyone else's. If you dislike a song, you can write a critical review; you can just say, "I didn't care for it;" you can recommend some of your music to the poster; or you could just move along to the next song. If you're responding to something you dislike, make your best effort to remove personal opinion from your response and approach it as clinically as you can. Don't want no turbulence up in here.

    * Spam the thread with recommendations. Now, this isn't to put a leash on anyone; some of us just really love our music, and we've just got to share it with everybody *cough guilty cough*. But if I take a look at any page in the thread and half the posts on it are yours, even if you're following all the other rules, you might be overdoing it. Give others a chance to spread the love.

Essentially, whatever you're doing, remember the "trade" aspect of the thread; try to give when you take, and do both in moderation. And remember that everything is welcome. Everything. Rap will not be turned away; country will not be turned away; screamo, metal, noisecore, shoegazer, christian, jazz hop, big band, gypsy punk... Whatever your flavor, let's hear it.

EDIT: There was originally a list of all the music here, but... I mean, I don't think anyone needs it or will read it. It's already in the thread, right? You guys will look through it and find what you're after. All the list is doing is keeping me from posting for dread of having to update it. I would certainly put up, say... songs that a popular vote says should be shared, or maybe specific recommendations? I dunno, your call! This thread serves the people, not the other way around.

I posted this here for a very specific reason, even though it has more of a general-discussion feel: I want people to voice their thoughts on it, but not to start arguing over it--or even debating it, to some degree. I just want to know what you think about it, not what you think about what someone else thinks about it.

Okay, enough beating around the bush... I'm willing to bet we've all been in this situation before. Say your mom does something that pisses you off. Maybe she's being hypocritical about something, or she's just angry all the time. Maybe your dad is really stubborn on some points that hit really close to home for you. The point is, you get a really strong impulse to argue with them. What do you do about it? Is it okay to argue? If you really feel passionately about something, is it acceptable, or even natural, to voice your opinion, even if said passion makes you defensive and irritable and compels you to insult your "opponent?" Or should you never do that, should you always wait until everyone's feeling better and then try to discuss it in a less turbulent setting?

Sometimes I feel like I hardly have the energy to argue about things unless it's in the heat of the moment, you know? And to that end, I let a lot of things slide that I really shouldn't, things that make it harder to relate to the people in my life, make me dislike them, or just annoy me and make me less cooperative. It gets to the point where I feel like I'm being brainwashed by my sense of civility. Sometimes I just need to let it out. And, I mean, I'm imperfect; I get angry, I throw insults, I forgo making valid points in favor of just relentlessly attacking the things that set off alarms in my head. But maybe I'd like to be given the benefit of the doubt. Maybe I'd like people to try as hard as I do to take the good and the valid away from negative situations. Is it too much to ask, even from family? I've begun to wonder if a civil discussion is always the preferable solution. I mean, on a much larger, more serious scale, there are some pretty bloody revolutions in history that have led to some pretty positive outcomes.

I guess a tl;dr is in order... On the domestic level, is there a place for outright anger and arguments? Does it get anything done?

Again, please try to just state your thoughts; I'd rather a discussion than an argument, or even a debate. We're all here to learn.

Bear witness to the fury, the joy and sorrow, the glory, the awkward social graces, the building and building and building. Bear witness to the escalating fury of the Pogo Hammer, to the ultra-ironic(?) might of Bro, to the vast expanse laid out before the Wayward Vagrant. Bear witness to the one thing in all this world that would deserve the title "epic," if only the word had not been burnt out and stepped upon time and time again by the ignorant, unwashed digital masses until it had lost all sense of purpose and meaning.

    Bear witness

    Casshern Sins

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casshern_Sins

I've been watching it on and off, and wondered if KH-V had any thoughts. I find the plot and artwork to share one major similarity: Although a bit cheesy, they have been polished to a mirror shine. The visuals are just too stylish to ignore, whether you like the actual design or not, and the plot has many episode-to-episode subtleties and nuances that slowly but surely push it away from "old-hat" territory.

Plus, it involves Jerry Jewell. You do the human race a disservice by not watching an anime dub with Jerry Jewell in it.

I haven't seen much, but I definitely like what I've seen. And I don't know how it stacks up to the original at all, so anyone who has perspective on that is welcome.
