Some assholes who shall remain nameless like to pick on people when they're very clearly speaking out of irritation, in a section where you're not meant to take it so seriously. So now I have two tips. Don't be that asshole, and:

Apparently, there's been talk on the Bandai Namco EU forums of porting Dark Souls to the PC. From what I gather, it began with an innocent "What if," and several staff began wondering if there was enough interest in it. Hardly a sure thing, but it's already being talked about:

Cynical Brit: "Why I think Dark Souls should come to PC"

This is... not exactly the best argument, it's more for "PC over consoles" than for "Dark Souls for PC." There is some strong insight on market comparisons, graphics capability, etc., but it doesn't do much to address issues with Dark Souls in particular. However, in response came this...

Epic Name Bro: "Why I think Dark Souls should(n't?) come to PC"

To summarize: a PC port of Dark Souls could make ample use of the opportunity for tweaks, but the only options are allowing a third party to port it, which is always a risk; or for From Software to do it themselves, something a small studio like theirs may not be able to handle without pushing back the release dates for other titles they're working on... and they keep busy.

    Dark Souls for PC Petition

Both videos link to this, a petition to get Dark Souls ported to PC. Both videos encourage support for it. Cynical's case is obvious, but ENB thinks that this could send a different message to From Soft': that they should consider offering the next game in the series on PC. He's confident that development on the next title has already begun, and this may be their way of testing the waters.

I've already signed it. I agree, it would be a good opportunity, if From Soft' is able to put as much blood and sweat into the port as they did into the console version, and I'd definitely like to see the next game take advantage of this. From needs all the love they can get, and a move like this may be just what they need to get it.

What's the very greatest betrayal you've ever suffered in a game? It could be a character you were emotionally attached to, one whose treason took you by surprise, or one who was just so damn good at it that you had you stop and give a round of applause.

WARNING: As if this needs to be said, the thread will contain many unmarked spoilers, since things would be a little cumbersome otherwise. Proceed at your own peril.

I'll name a few of my own to start:

    Otsdarva/Thermidor (Armored Core: For Answer)
Armored Core is pretty much Backstab: The Video Game, but this one deserves special mention. It's vaguely hinted that Otsdarva is the former ace pilot for Rayleonard, a corporation which was destroyed by the protagonist of Armored Core 4. In 4A he seems to have gotten along well enough, having moved to Omer Science, which rose from Rayleo's ashes, and rejoining the great corporate war. He later joins you in the battle against White Glint, the former AC4 protagonist and last surviving Core of Line Ark, pretty much the only people who don't want to take over the world and aren't complete sleazeballs. You figure he'd jump at a shot for revenge, but unfortunately his boosters malfunction and he sinks into the sea... OR DOES HE(????). He later resurfaces (no pun intended) as Thermidor, the ruthless leader of ORCA and the new anti-establishment champion. One story path allows you to first join ORCA, then go against their tenets and pointlessly slaughter ten million people, at which point he rejoins the corporate sleazeballs in a temporary truce to take you down.

So let's recap: First he was frontstabbed by White Glint, then he backstabbed the corporations, then you backstab him, then he un-stabs the corporations to backstab you back. Whew. Like I said, no series does the backstab tango quite like Armored Core.

Yurt, the Silent Chief (Demon's Souls)
This fella is sitting in a prison cell in one of the creepier locales of the game. You can tell something's off about him right away; but it's pretty easy to dismiss in a game where half the people want you dead and the other half are probably going to want you dead later. So hey, you rescue the guy, and he goes back to the Nexus like a good little NPC. And he hangs out on the second floor all by himself, as opposed to nearly every other NPC. Ok, little weird. Still, no big deal. Fast-forward to the next boss you defeat, and he starts assassinating the other NPCs one-by-one. Let this go on long enough and he comes after you, too. And if you kill him first, you're visited by his contractor, who offers you the chance to take his place! And a few of the items she offers up are enticing indeed.

    Eric Sparrow (Tony Hawk's Underground)
What. A. Dick. Eric doesn't just betray you, he spits in your face over and over. After every time you save his neck, he finds a way to leave you eating dirt while he soars to stardom. He "forgets" to sign you up for a competition, he steals credit for your craziest stunts, he leaves you locked in a runaway tank which he took for a drunk joyride... And the worst part is that he does it without a second thought. Always spinning up a wild tale to back up his stories, always ready to justify his behavior when you confront him. He is an assbag, and he takes every opportunity to remind you of it. The funny part is, he creates most of the conflict that lets you climb the skate-star ladder.

    Terraria.

    My day was Terraria.

Killed the Wall of Flesh, started Hard Mode. I have since been finding dozens of new ways to die. Here's a few:

    - Wander into the Hallow at night without realizing it and take a unicorn horn to the sternum
    - Explore a cave you had carved out long ago looking for Cobalt, only to discover the Corruption and a metric asston of beastly new monsters have moved in
    - Become trapped in your base and repeatedly ganked by an army of snowmen, who then proceed to murder all of your helpless NPCs
    - Do all of this over again while trying to recover money and a tombstone from your corpse

Also I CAN'T FIND ANY COBALT. CRAY CRAY CRAAAAY.

So what did I miss on Kei Eishi Bii :L
