    Honestly I would much rather like to be able to do something like that, instead of being limited to hex editing. Some entries I can't even find (like the magic) when searching through the iso, and I'd like to be able to release something one day that's more helpful to a player than the ability to make gummi ships.

    You know what I mean?

    On a related note if gledson would shed some light on how this is done I'd love to fix up some things that Xeeynamo left undone or things that are really awkward. ("Two become one" and "Axel's data are there", etc.)

    You're missing my point.

    A good story can be told horribly. Kingdom Hearts is an unfortunate case of a game series that has been created by a team of people who are horrible at telling stories. It's a story that was written out of order, and has many retcons and confusing parts. The confusion comes from the fact that it was told out of proper order (start to finish) and was instead a jumbled mess (middle to start to finish); if it was re-written with clarity, with explanations instead of the developer coming right out and saying "This game will be the most confusing", Kingdom Hearts has great potential to be on the scale of some of the better Final Fantasy games.

    I understand your point, I truly do. You're saying that KH has a bad story; what I'm saying is that within that horrible story, is something with the potential to be great. The great story within the KH series is just so bogged down with crap that it's creators placed on it that it can't be fully realized in it's current form.

    When I say that KH has a good story, I look past the annoying retcons, the "everyone is Ansem/Xehanort-ness" of it, and try to see what the developers were trying to make. That's why I put up with it.

    Ironically enough the quote about "light being within darkness" applies here, with the light being the "good" story I see and the darkness being the "bad" story you're referring to.

    Compared to the other KH games, it's not exactly... bad.... just really aged. Hopefully 1.5 will have fixed some of it. I still think they should've changed the enemy HP bar, and ally info placement, but whatever.

    I disagree. It's a good story. Just told badly. Honestly if the story was about Xehanort and not Sora it would probably make more sense.

    The best way to "fix" Kingdom Hearts would be for there to be a reboot. But that will never happen and I never want it to happen. I just wish that KH made more sense to explain to people; I want my friends to like it, but if I end up confusing myself when trying to explain it to them, they'll never appreciate it.

    gledson, you HAVE to let me fix up the English translation of KH2 Final Mix. Please! The grammar of the original translation KILLS me, and there are some minor parts that weren't even translated. Please show me how.

    To answer your question, I haven't been able to translate any cutscenes, but I haven't tried to yet. Root, the guy who made this stuff seem more possible to do than ever, said that the cutscenes are compressed. Jimmy's Journal, at least the NAMES of them (maybe not the entries themselves, I haven't tried that yet) are editable with a hex editor, and the gummi part names (again, I haven't tried the descriptions yet) are editable with a hex editor.

    Because he's the oldest physical form of Xehanort. He basically cheated death by possessing Terra, which would've temporarily "reset" his age back to being young. Xemnas and Ansem are the same "age" as Terra, while Master Xehanort is still, on the inside, an old man.

    Remembering that Young and Master Xehanort are the same person, it makes sense that YMX would call MX his oldest form, since he simply is.

    Well that's good I guess.

    I'm still translating the gummi blocks (since I want to finish one thing before moving on to another thing) and have finished blocks "Cure-G" through "Aero-G □." All other blocks (and their descriptions) are in Japanese.

    I tried finding the "Scan" ability, no luck.

    If anyone else wants to try it, here's what it should be in hex:

I don't have the brains to write programs that would interact with PS2 games from the early to mid 2000s.

    Okay, another question.

    Using the code to get Anti-Form into the drive menu, takes away one equipment slot from Donald. If I use the code to change his equipment to something that's not glitched, would that allow for him to use that slot again? Or is there another way to remove the dummy item?

    I never said that it would be hard to implement them. I said it would be a waste of time. Also, a model is not made from source code. They are two different things.

    All I'm saying is that I don't see the capes being added.

    It just doesn't make sense to me why they would. All they did for KH1 was change how the camera operated and updated some texturework, and all they did (as for as I know) for Re:CoM was updated texturework.They added support for AA and higher poly models, yes, but the models use the same animations as the lower quality ones.

    A texture, an image, is not the same thing as an animation. It simply is not. However I will concede to you the point that yes, since they most likely still have the capes from the initial development of BBS, it is possible for them to re-add the capes. But I honestly and truly do not expect nor want them to.

    Not everything removed deserves to be restored; just like I don't foresee Pleakly (spelling?) being added, Buzz or Woody summons, Sora's concept art chainsaw weapon thing or a Jungle Book world in the near future. They're nice to remember and wonder about what could've been but at the end of the day they, like the capes, are cut material.

    Also getting back to this, they have removed stuff in the past, though not directly related to the ReMix. The multiplayer portion of CoM was replaced with a theater mode, and the entire gameplay portion of a game was removed from the HD version of 358/2 Days in favor of a glorified theater mode.I understand that it was made to not push back the release date any further but seriously, why would anyone want 2 HD games and a HD theater mode when they could've had 3 HD games WITH HD cutscenes.

    My final thought will be that neither of us will get what we want; the cape in KH2:FM will remain and no capes will be added in BBS. That is my conclusion and with it, I am leaving this thread.

    Then they are, in my opinion, foolish. And animation is not easy nor is it simple. If they add the capes, which I believe they will not, it will take time to do and will add very little.

    They even left that ugly multicolored enemy HP bar instead of changing it to be how literally every other game is (barring Chain of Memories, which was changed to the norm in it's first HD-ifying).
