I have a mental disorder/illness - ADD/Asperger's Syndrome. When combined, this means I have basically no social skills, and trouble focusing on unpleasant tasks. My brother has high-functioning autism, as well.

As has been mentioned in the previous posts, it all depends on how bad it is. For instance, despite my condition, the only concessions I am getting at college is a dorm room to myself. Everything else is perfectly normal. My brother, on the other hand, will need a bit more help, and it is unlikely he will ever move too far away from home, as he still gets help from us. However, he starts high school in the fall, just as a kid his age is supposed to.

It all depends on severity and availability of treatment. For instance, we were willing to put up thousands of dollars, and make my brother's severe autism become a much milder form. We're still paying off those debts, but it was worth it.

One of my purposes is NOT to breed, actually. I have too many bad genes to want to pass them on (autism, cancer, diabetes, etc etc etc). Overall, I want to find something (archaeology ftw) that either A) unlocks a discovery of some kind or B) helps lead to said discovery.

I would also like to see the first extra-solar colony in my lifetime, but it doesn't look like that's gonna happen, lol.

    Oh lol...

That's actually kinda sad... he must have been betting on the entire legal process to be techno-illiterate.

I personally find it rather foolish to believe in a "god" or "supreme being" or thing of that nature, simply because I feel that all the evidence is against it.

However, that is simply my opinion. If someone truly believes that there is a god watching out for them, then I know there is no way to counter that belief. That doesn't stop me from arguing my side, of course, but I don't way things like "well, your belief is stupid because there is no god." I might point out the evidence for things like evolution, the big bang, the lack of miracles in the world, etc., but I do refrain from actively persecuting people. And they are quite free to argue their side, also. If someone were to bring me hard proof of a god's existence, it would help their case tremendously.

Now, there are, I admit, quite a few intolerant Atheists. But how is that different from any world religion? I am willing to bet that most world religions have caused more suffering in this world than Atheism (sorry if this offends anyone...). Atheists have never declared a holy war, for instance. But I'm starting to ramble, so I'll wrap this up now...

I jsut moved a mountain to right next to my house with my mind.

There. I just claimed to use this ability. Does that make it true? No. Even on television, there are these things called acting and special effects. Unless I was able to examine every aspect of it as it happened right next to me, I will never believe in telekinesis in any way, and I will continually doubt anyone who claims to have done it.

Not that I don't wish iot were possible. I mean, aside from the ridiculous superheroism aspects (illegal search and seizure, assault, kidnapping, etc, anyone?), telekinesis would make my life so much more convenient.

The Amazon. I think the total there is dozens of species potentially going extinct there per day. Mostly things like insects, but they're still part of the ecosystem.

On topic, though, why not start hunting them, instead of just airbombing them? I mean, if there's a billion dollars of meat out there (as was said in the video), surely the Australian people would rather have that money, than a bunch of camel carcasses rotting in the sun and spreading disease.

^This. Almost every legend in history has at it's core a grain of truth. Sometimes, that truth is hidden in prehistory (I personally beleive that our legends of ogres and trolls came from Homo sapiens' first encounter with Neanderthals, for instance), and some may have been blown completely out of proportion, but there is usually a real precedent involved.

When I saw the title, I thought it was some kind of sick joke...

Also, I don't care what kind of mental crisis she was having, she deserves to be locked up somewhere for a very long time. If she uses the mental disease defense, put her in a straitjacket and lock her away forever, IMO.

If all we had to deal with were criminals, I might agree with you.

Have you ever seen the movie Red Dawn? Great movie, made in the 80s, I think, that completely emphasizes my position. If someone ever does invade, I don't want to be helpless because the 2nd Amendment is no longer valid. I want to fight, by any means necessary.

Sweet. That's like... a once in a century occurrence.

Not that it has the significance of the nukes in North Korea, or some such, but it's still pretty newsworthy. :D

Well, I wouldn't care so much about dying, as long as I go out in a way that benefits people, or as long as I lived in a way that benefited people in a major way. That's really the extent of my ambitions, and once I achieve that, I can die happy. Although, it would also be nice if something did exist after death. I know it's unprovable, but it would be nice.

There's not a personon the planet who can do that. I am one of the wierdest people I have ever met. If someone ever WERE able to do that, I would say they definitely need therapy.

On that day, criminals will take over, and we will become extremely vulnerable to outside attack.

My favorite quote in these situations is from a prominent WWII Japanese general -
Take away the rifles, and what do you have? A weak, undefended country.

On topic, though, yea, allowing guns iun bars is a terrible idea.

    I wish for:

    1) Immortality (never to get sick, and unable to die except from injuries, and never to suffer the effects of age - to stop aging at 21)
    2) Telekinesis (controllable :D)
    3) A near-infinite amount of money deposited into my bank account, with no effects on global economy (no inflation, etc)

No. Parents are responsible for their kids' health and diet, not the school. If parents do their job right, these overweight kids wouldn't be overweight in the first place. The parents need to start doing things like packing lunches for kids that actually have a decent amount of food in them, and getting them to exercise (and with the energy that kids have, it shouldn't be too hard), and other similar things.

The drive only existed because we Americans felt that beating the Russians to the moon would be another "victory" in the Cold War. It was never intended, then, that we would actually have colonies there, or anywhere else. At least, not by the politicians who controlled the funding.

Actually, the majority of our neural pathways and brain functions are created in the first months/years after birth, so upbringing has an effect. Since I'm not a neurologist, I don't know to what extent, or if it can change brain scans that much, but it can probably at least tweak it.

The space programs in the world today are a joke, anyways. We don't need some tiny space station with like 5 crew, we need some kind of orbiting shipyard to build longer-range vehicles (possibly nuclear-powered) to get us to the other planets in the solar system. I mean, what's the point of putting us into space if we're not gonna be profiting from it? If there's no money coming in, it's just a waste.

Mining would be the most plausible application - we can mine the Moon for good fusion materials (or so I hear - I don't remember where), we can mine the asteroids for various metals, maybe even the gas giants might have something for us, etc, etc.

Time travel, as described in sci-fi, was proved basically impossible by Einstein, if I remember correctly. However, time viewing, the act of simply looking back or forward in time, has potential and could actually happen. Time viewing may actually prove more useful than time travel anyways, because of the (possible) lack of paradoxes. If all you're doing is looking, you can't possibly become your own grandfather, right? :D We would also finally settle the religious debates once and for all, one way or another.
