So FFX-2 HD has a new dresspshere, and I figured I'd give it a try since you get it automatically and early on. I'm just nearing the end of Chapter 1 and now I can cast Ultima for 24 MP (out of my something like 160 MP) and deal 9999 damage, trivializing EVERYTHING What were they thinking, putting something like this so early in the game? (X-2 is a really fun, underrated game, BTW)
It's probably just a rule or something
http://designthroughstorytelling.net/periodic/ I've always wanted TVtropes distilled into a periodic table, I just didn't know it until now
A fairly common line thrown around in comics and their associated media, basically the idea that nobody stays dead, especially common with stuff where a major character like Superman dies. The thing is, and this does only apply to competently written stuff, generally the purpose isn't to ask "what will happen now that this character is dead" but rather "What would all the other characters do if this character did die?" I think there's a good episode in the Justice League cartoon that summarizes this, where Superman dies. They spare no time in making it clear that he's not actually dead, because that's not the pont, the point is to show what the cast, and the world at large, would do directly following his death. ... or it can just be used for cheap shock value with no actual repercussions it depends
I really hate it when people pull this logic on me Like I was talking about how there's a distinct imbalance in the quality of the different areas you explore in Zelda Skyward Sword, the Desert area being FAR more interesting than the other two, and I got this reply: "that isn't what imbalanced means. Imbalanced is saying that either the playable character or the enemies are notably stronger than the other to the point that it breaks the game." I hate it when people try to act like there's only one really specific definition for a word, like another example. My dog was lying on her blanket, which is the same colour as her. My sister asked where the dog was, I said she was being assimilated into the blanket, to which she got really offended and said that assimilate means taking an aboriginal child and putting them in a boarding school. And when I tried to explain that's not all it meant she said I jsut couldn't handle being wrong. I particularly hate this sort of argument because it's so hard to actually debate against a person like this >.>
Every bit as funny as I remember it. I didn't actually know until recently it was a Disney movie, it's so different from their usual stuff
I know at least a few of you are familiar with Blue Nocturne's KH work, and if you are you'll know he tends to use actual Disney songs as the basis for his fanmade music, ratehr than an original composition Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing more. In a lot of cases the Disney music ends up being the weakest part of a KH OST, so maybe this would end up giving some of the tracks some much needed recognizability
It's my final project for my audio class. My general idea is to try to create a medieval battle of some description using only household sounds, and failing that, some sort of a western any ideas, suggestions, tips?
Something I find strange about this whole thing. Part of the story treats the clash of the 13 darknesses and 7 lights as a preordained thing, but for Xehanort's plan to work at all the only thing that can be preordained is that darkness and light will clash at all. There have been numerous debates about who the lights really are, who the darknesses are but... for any of this work that has to NOT matter. Because the 13 darknesses are all Xehanort. He's artificially creating these circumstances, thus, by the same notion ANYBODY with adequate light should be able to fit the role of a light, which in turn means that Xehanort having a light among his xehanorts is completely meaningless
Personally? I'm calling a heroic sacrifice of some sort, though if it's a major character like Sora or Riku they're definitely coming back. Well, really if it's anybody they're probably coming back. I can't see any left field "this guy was actually evil the whole time" things happening or anything like that And while all the building blocks are in place, I'd REALLY like ti imagine they won't pull anything as stupid as "Riku becomes evil again" It'd be cool if the big moment was something that had to do with what we understand of the world as a whole, or the heartless, or some established piece of canon. And I really hope some new villain doesn't hijack it from Xehanort at the very end, even if it's another form of Xehanort
Right, so I have adblock off on this site because I like the whole "people making money for their work" thing But I just got a REALLY intrusive popup ad from Telus. A loud video ad that came up when I was in another tab, what's more, it seems to have actually disabled my ability to play other videos while it was playing. It paused my current video and wouldn't let me resume it until I found the ad and closed it. I like supporting this site, and others, but if it's going to directly hamper my browsing experience I'm gonna have to turn adblock on I don't suppose anyone knows anything about this? Maybe there's a way to stop just the intrusive ad, either on my end or the staff's?
HOLY WHAT A GREAT SEASON Damn you Pendleton Ward, why did you create such an insanely interesting world?
I'm watching the Smash Bros Direct from the other day, and reading about people hating how Zero Suit Samus wears high heels The argument being put forward that they're impractical for fighting Why is that suddenly a big deal with high heels? I mean, this is Smash Bros, a Nintendo franchise, where the game is already full to the brim with things that are impractical for fighting. Peach wears a dress, Wario wears weird pointy shoes. But for some reason it's high heels where the unreal-ism has gone too far? I mean, if you look at the footage, she doesn't even touch the heel end to the ground. The heel end is also a jet booster which she uses to enhances her strength, btw. But yeah, ZS Samus is always balancing on the balls of her feet, which makes sense since her character is based around agility (and now rocket boots) Really the high heel design perfectly compliments her combat style, but apparently it's terrible and impractical. Even if it was, the magic of a fictional world is that we can HAVE impractical things be practical like keyblades
This is a question I've passed around with friends and family, and one that, quite honestly, scares me a fair bit, and is probably a major reason why I don't really want to pursue a relationship, though I haven't checked. Basically, the past... hudnredish years have had HUGE levels of upheaval. New technology daily, modern notions of social standards are steadily becoming the norm. I mean, the fact that wars are being fought against the basic notions of disease and hunger is INSANE, when you think about it, but that's where humanity is right now. And something that has come a very long way in a very short time is women's rights. Pushes against sexism, pushes for rights, all kinds of stuff. While it's definitely not there yet, women are on more equal footing than they've ever been, and with that is coming a destruction of the concept of the nuclear family. Similar pushes in gay rights, which definitely have a ways to go before even matching women's rights, but one thing that this has called into question was the need for two different sexed parents. The idea that a male and female influence is needed to raise a child is being called into question. So where we have women pushing into work forces that were once considered man only, and the way we raise children in constant flux even WITHOUT the stuff that comes with gay and women's rights... where does a man fit it? What traits can a man bring to the table that offer anything unique? In a world where the notion of a breadwinner father and stay at home mother is challenged, what does a many have to offer anymore? Is it their role to simply be a subpar mother? Because biologically mothers have the edge there, even eliminating the notion of 'maternal instincts' they're still the ones able to breastfeed, and carry a child. Meanwhile, you can't argue that the child needs 'a man's view' or whatever, to help them grow- that's sexist- and also challenged by the notion of same sex parents, where the parents are, or at least have the ability to be, on equal ground. I guess the thing is, while it's all well and good to fight against having stereotypical roles... roles are kind of nice. It's scarier to have to define yourself in life. I've talked to a few girls about this, and they expressed something along the lines of the opposite yet the same problem. Talking about how it'd be a fair bit simpler to be able to just focus on one thing, whether it's raising their kids, or earning the money, but being expected by society to do both and more. There's certainly a nice simplicity to having complimentary roles, it makes life a little more manageable, instead it seems like by and large women are being subjected to too many directions while men aren't being given any I guess each family nowadays is going to have to carve their own niche? Sounds like a lot of extra work in a world that moves as fast as ours. Bleagh g'night
Reminded of this by the last topic. I REALLY don;t get this. When a person says "there should be a genocide against white people so they know what it's like" that sounds PRETTY racist to me. On a similar topic, the myth og reverse sexism. When a woman says she's surprised I actually read a book, because most men don't read... that sounds PRETTY SEXIST :| ...thoughts?
Everybody seems to ask the reverse, there are endless discussions out there. The other day though, I was thinking, while I was writing. What makes for a strong male character, in the same sense that would make for a strong female character? By that I mean, people argue that a character who is strong but that strength has no bearing on their gender aren't 'strong female characters' So traits does a MALE character need to be a strong MALE character?
This is still one of my favourite things ever
Anybody here want to talk about their experiences with them? Right now my fourth is coming in, and causing an INSANELY painful ear ache that has a side effect of roughly halving the volume I hear at. Anybody have something similarly bad? Worse? Not as bad but still bad? I hear as a general rule girls get them early and it's easier
Ebverybody loves Batman right? Batman TAS was pretty great
