The leader of the group of men threw his first punch right at the SOLDIER boy's face, only slightly aware that his aim was a little off and not as powerful as he'd thought. At the same time, he brought his knee up to the boy's crotch, hoping to land at least one of the attacks before his men backed him up.
Taralynn swallowed, blinking for a moment, trying her best to keep her face blank of any emotion. It was funny how she knew that she liked Jack, as a person and for his ideals, but when she actually heard about it, from his mouth directly, it still gave her the chills... and she liked it. But how was she supposed to respond to that? Knowing Jack, he didn't just spill the beans about as big a secret as that without wanting to judge her response. And Taralynn knew she could manage a decent reply: "Heh," she chuckled, nonchalant, after a minute. "It's amazing how much someone can change in a few years; one minute you're not old enough to use magic outside school, and the next it's... everything else. If you ask me," she continued with her voice lowered to a murmur, "you need to take your time with killing. Another secret, by the way, since it's my turn, is that I've never used an Unforgivable Curse... nor do I ever want to. It's like how the Muggles fight with guns and knives; which one would the truly righteous, evil, serial killer pick? A quick, easy kill with a silenced handgun or... cutting up their prey into little, agonizing pieces with a few tiny, dull blades? "That's what the Killing Curse is like to me; a dirty gun. Of course, don't get me wrong, it can be useful and sometimes necessary at certain points, but... if I can help it..." She paused even further, letting her own thoughts form slowly in her head while she played absentmindedly with the hem of her robe, "... I like to take my time." Iris' jaw dropped slightly when she followed her siblings, a bit of fear rising in her when she finally realized where they were. "I..." she began quietly, but then stopped, realizing she really had nothing to say. The immediate thoughts of: Ooh, boy, we could get in so much trouble... and But I'm so impressed with Elysia on this one I can't help but be excited! ran through her head at the exact same time, making it hard to think. She instinctively grabbed the sleeve of her sister's robe, wanting to make sure she stayed close to her and not touch, move, or break anything.
Taralynn's body tensed for a moment, her hands frozen in fists. "You..." she began softly, an odd mix of excitement and fear rising in her stomach, making her a little nauseous. She cleared her throat a second later, glancing over at Jack. "Are you... bored with this already?" She had thought that the game would keep Jack entertained, since it still wasn't a good enough time for either of them to complete any of their plans. Yes, they could go out and curse a few more first years, hopefully make them cry, but their were teachers out and about in the castle, and Taralynn couldn't afford detention tonight. As for Jack's last secret... well, if he wanted to talk about it, he would have continued on the subject, and he didn't. Taralynn knew better than to push him. Instead, she waited patiently for his response to her off-topic question. Iris laughed quietly under her breath, folding her arms over her chest, waiting for her Elysia's reply.
Aveline arrived home without any trouble, but, for some reason, her thoughts were not on Sephiroth or tomorrow morning, but the events at the bar that night: yes, she'd gone to that place for information before, but tonight was very odd: there were so many other important people at the same bar, all looking for something to help them forward in life. It seems I'm not the only one, she thought as she finally lay down to sleep. Those Turks... SOLDIER members... and those anti-Shinra people, mainly that lady I bummed a cigarette off of. They all seemed so sure of themselves and what they could get. I was just playing a damn games, like a child not knowing what would happen if I actually achieved my goal. Well, now I've got it, and I sure as hell won't stop till I get what I want, no matter who's side I end up on. The leader of the group of drunk men seemed to have had enough; grinding his teeth and grumbling angrily to himself under his breath, he motioned for the men near him to move up behind either side of the cocky SOLDIER boy. "You've got a lot of nerve, kid!" he started again, not caring if he got a response or not at this point; he was ready to fight. "You walk around out here in the middle of the night in that nasty, lying uniform and don't expect trouble? Well you've found it whether you want it or not!" The man took two hurried steps forward and grabbed the back of the SOLDIER's uniform shirt, turning in around, his other fist raised to punch.
Taralynn grinned; this was something she pretty much knew already, but the fact that Jack was actually sharing it with her made her think he'd be honest in their little game. "Snakes, huh?" she teased a little. "That's a big surprise! Let's see..." Taralynn paused, thinking for a moment. "I'm the youngest of eight kids."
Taralynn swallowed a happy squeal, clasping her hands together in front of her, biting her lower lip. She sat in the chair opposite Jack, unable to fight back the nasty grin that was sitting on her face. "Right," she began, trying to not be nervous. "Here's a little secret about me that nobody knows..." She leaned forward, lowering her voice slightly despite the fact that they were alone. "... I've never seen a Muggle movie."
Taralynn led the way back to the Slytherin common room. When she and Jack arrived, she was hoping there was at least one student there that they could scare off; she always loved to see Jack in action. She practically leaped with joy when they entered the common room and saw that there was a girl and a boy sitting in two chairs by the fireplace, talking to each other alone. Taralynn recognized them immediately but couldn't remember their actual names; the boy was a bigger, not-so-smart kid that no one was fond of. Why on earth he would be talking to one of the prettier, older Slytherin girls, Taralynn couldn't tell. "Jack," Taralynn whispered when they walked in, adjusting the strap of her book bag excitedly. "Do you see that girl? Word around the castle is her grandmother is a Muggle. And I've heard her talking about you and other Slytherins behind our backs to first years. It's disgusting." She slipped her into the pocket of her robes, touching the handle of her wand. Iris followed directly behind her sister, her heart racing. It was all she could do to keep her face calm and collected. It was something good this time, she could tell. She wanted to burst out and ask what it was, to yell at Elysia to just spill the beans because she couldn't take the suspense anymore, but she swallowed and clenched her fists. They had to be close to whatever it was.
Aveline made her way home slowly and silently. The streets were even emptier than before, and she said a silent prayer that she wouldn't meet any people; with the state she was in, it would be better if could just get home and go to bed. Her back was straight when she walked, however; Aveline had a purpose now, something that she could look forward to in the morning... even if it meant more bleeding and broken bones. The group of men stopped, halting into each other once again, but this time they caught their footing and fell into an amateur formation much more quickly. None of them could believe what had just happened. The leader stepped forward yet again, rolling his shoulders and flexing his fingers, new anger in his intoxicated veins at this kid's belligerence. "Hey, asshole!" he tried again, real rage in his voice now, "who the hell do you think you are? Too good for us normal folk, you SOLDIER puppet?! Turn around before I make you!"
Psshhh... not as epic as joo think! >D
This is how epic we were: ---------- OOC: Get ready for the most epic post ever made on this thread! *drumroll!!* BIC: "Okay, let's go."...
Wow... how long did it take you to have fun with those colors?! xD
Check out the OOC thread for the new Van Helsing RP Angelina and I made!! http://www.kh-vids.net/showthread.p...Helsing-Renewed-The-Ultimate-Vampire-Showdown
Van Helsing Renewed: The Ultimate Vampire Showdown Overview: Welcome to the intensely anticipated vampire showdown of the century! This is kind of a re-camp of an old Van Helsing Roleplay that Garxena made back in 2008, but this time it’s a lot bigger and a lot more exciting! The main focus of this thread will be characters from vampire-related shows (i.e. movies, books, animes, etc.) Everyone will be allowed ONE Original Character to keep the story going. We will start ASAP and continue until the battle we’ve got set up concludes. PM me or Garxena with any questions and we’ll be happy to help whoever is interested! Story: From the journal of Gabriel Van Helsing, circa 1859: “For the longest time there has been the constant battle between vampires and humans. If one takes into consideration all the other creatures of the underworld (werewolves, lycans, shape-shifters, and more) those unlike us are quite numerous. Every story, pieces of folklore, and legends have different rules for these beings, depending on their time period, race, and exact location. Yet now… they are all being called together to face their final, most powerful foe.†The Vatican has been researching vampires and all related beings for centuries, with Van Helsing, the infamous vampire-hunter, as their main tool in the process. Now, after all this time, the Holy Empire has found a tool that could end this battle once and for all. But, as we all know, churches are corrupt and have their own reasons for what they do. The real questions are: Is it worth the sacrifice? What is really evil and therefore right or wrong? What stance will you take and… what side will you end up on? Location and Time Period: Transylvania and other parts of Europe. The thread starts in the late 1800’s. Rules: 1. Follow the usual forum rules (including those SPECIFIC to the Extended RP Area.) That much is obvious since this thread will be posted there. 2. Do not fight, god-mod, or harass anyone. I will destroy those that do not comply. 3. Garxena is the co-founder of this Roleplay. If anyone has questions or anything else related to the thread, either of us can be asked at any time. Also, you don’t need to have read or seen the movies/books related to and/or used in this thread; I’ve made sufficient enough bios for every Canon character for people to know them well enough to Roleplay with them. 4. Everyone is allowed ONE Original Character. This thread is not about OCs, but every Roleplayer can have one for the purpose of moving the thread along. 5. Everyone must post on a part-time basis. This means you’ll need to post a decent paragraph (10 lines or more) 3-7+ times a week. If you cannot do this because of unforeseen circumstances, just let everyone know and we can work something out. 6. Every post must have proper spelling, grammar, sentence structure, and complete ideas. It’s no use posting if others have a hard time understanding what you’re trying to say; it takes one out of character and the Roleplay itself, and I can’t have that happening. 7. Please color-code your characters. I don’t mind what style you do this in (just spoken quotes in color, the entire paragraph, etc.) but make sure you stick to a chosen color so we can easily tell the difference between each post and multiple characters. 8. If anyone cannot follow these rules in their full extent, you will be given one warning. If you do not listen, your characters will be destroyed and you will leave the Roleplay permanently. Fair enough, yes? Races: Vampires: Vampires are ancient, immortal creatures that date back to Mesopotamian times. All stories tell different tales of their origins. They are usually nocturnal beings that live off of the blood of mortals, mostly humans. Most vampires choose to feed on people just to satisfy their hunger, not kill them. However, because of their immortality and the loneliness that can go along with it, vampires have evolved into very hateful, vindictive creatures that torture, mangle, and kill their prey without bias against man, woman, or child. They are, however, very beautiful beings; vampires have an aura about them that makes them very appealing to humans. They are always well-groomed, fit, and flawless in their appearance. In order for a vampire to create another vampire, however, they cannot simply bite a human; if this was the case, at the rate vampires feed, almost every human being would be infected and no “food†would be left for these creatures after a short period of time. Therefore, there is a process that needs to be completed for a vampire to create a child: the vampire must bite the human and draw its blood into its own body. Then, when the human is weak, the vampire must make an incision on its own body (preferably the wrist) and feed its magical, tainted blood to the human. Once the human takes this vampiric blood into their injured body, they will undergo the transformation into a vampire. Only through this process can a vampire be created and brought into the world. Werewolves: Werewolves are creatures whose folklore goes back to ancient Greece. They turn into wolf-like beings during the full moon each month. Usually being bit by another werewolf on any part of one’s body can turn a human being into one of these creatures, yet people have been able to also harvest their venom and inject it into others to turn them as well. They have superhuman strength, speed, and agility. They are weak to any weapons or items with silver in them. Lycans: Lycans are a second, more advanced generation of werewolves. Being injected with the “Lycan virus†turns one into these creatures; the main difference is that Lycans can keep their human intelligence and personalities while transformed. They display supernatural abilities of physical strength, speed, reflexes, endurance, and agility even when they are in human form. Lycans can enter a state of hibernation and survive without food for centuries. They possess enhanced senses of smell, hearing, and sight that are superior even to those of wolves. Dunpeals (Dhampir): A hybrid creature with a vampire father and human mother. Rarely do they possess the powers of their fathers but live much longer than regular humans. If a Dunpeal’s father was a noble, old, powerful vampire, the odds of their child inheriting the father’s vampiric powers is much higher. The most famous Dunpeal known to history so far is Vampire Hunter D. Humans: Regular, mortal human beings with no abilities and infected with no monster’s virus/poison. Canon Characters: Spoiler: canon characters Gabriel Van Helsing (Bushy Brow) Van Helsing is a Dutch doctor with a wide range of interests and accomplishments, and the arch-enemy of Count Dracula. He is one of the most famous Vampire Hunters of all time, believed to be the reincarnation of the Archangel Gabriel, the Left Hand of God. He works for the Vatican in Rome, Italy, helping rid Europe of “evil†creatures for a long time. Van Helsing is very quiet and reserved, though his attitude when speaking can be harsh and demanding. He has few friends and trusts no one. Over the years he has seemed to have faith in God to a certain extent but does not actually belong to the Catholic faith. His weapons range from automatic bows to guns and blades, depending on the situation and what the Vatican gives him. Anymore of his past, family, and friends are unknown. Spoiler: appearance Vampire Hunter D From the 1985 and 2000 anime named for himself, Vampire Hunter D is the half-breed child of a vampire father and human mother. Having the ability to access both worlds and life-styles, D is the ideal vampire hunter. He is known for his skill and grace, but is feared and despised for his mixed blood by normal humans, being born of both races but fully belonging to neither. He is able to live a “normal†life as a human despite his unearthly beauty and a powerful aura (and therefore has no human friends or family.) D possesses surprising power and resourcefulness, having powerful superhuman strength and the ability to use certain types of magic. He tends to prefer his physical strength, though, fighting with a long sword. D is the host for an odd spirit, Left Hand, a wise-cracking human face residing in his left palm, who can suck in massive amounts of matter through a wind void or vacuum tunnel. Left Hand enjoys needling the poker-faced D, but only appears as needed, rarely witnessed or heard by anyone other than D, yet aware of many of D's thoughts and actions. At all other times, D's left hand appears normal. Besides providing a contrast to D's reserved demeanor, Left Hand is incredibly useful, possessing many mysterious powers such as psychometry, inducing sleep, determining the medical condition of a victim, and the ability to size up the supernatural powers or prowess of an enemy, even beyond D's keen senses. D rides a cybernetic horse with mechanical legs and other enhancements, making travel from mission to mission magically fast and efficient. Spoiler: appearance Spoiler: appearance Dracula (Webhead) Originally from Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel with the character’s name as title, Dracula is the “King of Vampires.†He has strength which, according to Van Helsing, is equivalent to that of 20 strong men. Being undead, he is immune to conventional means of attack. The only definite way to kill him is by decapitating him followed by impalement through the heart with a wooden stake, although it is also suggested that shooting him with a sacred bullet would suffice. Like all undead, he has the potential to live forever and never die, though he is not truly immortal as he can be killed by the traditional vampire methods (silver and/or wooden stakes, holy water, etc.). The Count does not have to seek victims regularly, and has the ability to remain inactive for centuries. Dracula can defy gravity to a certain extent, being able to climb upside down vertical surfaces in a reptilian manner. He has powerful hypnotic and telepathic abilities, and is also able to command nocturnal animals such as wolves and rats. Dracula can also manipulate the weather, usually creating mists to hide his presence, but also storms. He can travel onto "unhallowed" ground such as the graves of suicides and those of his victims. Spoiler: appearance Lestat de Lioncourt (Snow Princess) This legendary vampire is the narrator and main character of the majority of the novels in Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles series. Lestat was born on November 7, 1760, as the seventh son of the marquis d’Auvergne in France. Because of his boldness, enthusiasm, and defiance, Lestat's seniors refer to him affectionately as "the Brat Prince", a title of which he is very fond. He is very full of himself, aware of his overwhelming sexual prowess as a vampire and uses it to his advantage. Lestat is bisexual, being attracted to whoever most interests him at the time. He is very vain and concerned with fashion, and will pause mid-narrative to remind the reader what he is wearing. He enjoys performing on stage, which he does as both a mortal actor in Paris, France and a vampire in his rock band called The Vampire Lestat, that he forms with a group of humans in the 1980s. Lestat is very fond of music: he sings, plays the piano, and the violin. Although he is illiterate as a mortal man, he learns to read and loves literature as a vampire. Lestat likes to play with his food; long seductions, midnight lures, sexual encounters, and mind games are just a few of the ways he manipulates humans before devouring them. As a vampire, Lestat's abilities include telepathy, superhuman strength, and resilience. After receiving blood from several ancient vampires, Lestat's strength increases dramatically, and allows him to fly, perform feats of telekinesis and pyrokinesis, and survive exposure to the sun. Ultimately, he is a vampire of his own; he has no allegiance to the “vampire world†or the “human world,†however. Whatever makes him happy and entertained is what he settles with. Spoiler: appearance Louis de Pointe de Lac (Snow Princess) Also from Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles series, Louis was born in France on October 4, 1766. He is, in short, very self-destructive, cynical, desperate, and longed for the release of death, but lacked the courage to commit suicide. Louis catches the attention of the vampire Lestat, who offers him the death-like state of vampirism as an alternative to his morbid request for death. Louis accepts and becomes Lestat’s companion, teacher, and “lover.†Despite the cruelty of his master toward his prey, Louis rarely ever eats humans, satisfying his thirst with animals and other creatures. He is Lestat’s second and last child. After a long series of events, living with Lestat for over 100 years, Louis finds himself on his own, living a life of solitude, trying his best to stay hidden in the shadows of his immortal life. Spoiler: appearance Hanabusa Aidou (Garxena) Originally from the anime Vampire Knight, Aido is the heir of his family, one of the highest lineage of vampiric aristocratic families. Aido possesses the ability to freeze matter. He is very outgoing and charismatic, often flirting with girls. He is also careless about keeping the fact that he is a vampire secret, asking girls what their blood type is. He cares very deeply for his friends and his fiercely loyal. Spoiler: appearance Akatsuki Kain (Garxena) Also originally from Vampire Knight, Kain is Aido’s cousin. Kain possesses the ability to control fire. He is a calm person who rarely loses his cool and is incredibly perceptive to others’ feelings. His association with Aido frequently sees him getting into trouble, despite not being directly responsible. Kain is also loyal and protective, the type who would never betray his friends. Spoiler: appearance Selene From the movie Underworld, Selene is a vampire who is known as a Death Dealer, fighting Lycans who killed her family when she was young. Her weapons include modern equipment like pistols and semi-automatic guns. Selene’s vampiric powers include superhuman strength, long-distance jumping, healing abilities, resistance to sunlight, and swimming without need of oxygen. Spoiler: appearance Violet Originally from the movie Ultraviolet, Violet is a woman who was genetically altered to the point of being given vampire-like, superhuman abilities. She was given advanced speed, incredible stamina, and acute intelligence. In the part of the world she comes from, her kind are considered “diseased†and the government have been trying to wipe them out for a long time, causing civil unrest and almost all-out war. Spoiler: appearance Original Characters: Use the following form for your OC: Username: Character Name: Gender: Race: Age: Immortal Age (mortal age plus years as an immortal, if applicable): Background (be as detailed as possible; at least 2 paragraphs): Personality: Appearance: Accepted Original Characters: Spoiler: accepted OCs Username: Snow Princess Character name: Anne Lyon Gender: Female Race: Vampire Age: Turned at 22 Immortal Age (mortal age plus years as an immortal, if applicable): 27 Background: Anne was a young woman born in a small town in Italy. She and her father lived alone above the printing press shop that he owned, making the few books that were published at the time, mostly the Bible. Not many people could read yet, so their business was slow. Once Anne was older, she took to going out and drinking, exploring the beautifully luring night streets of Italy with men and women she didn’t know well. She wanted adventure, a more exciting life than a boring, poorly business-focused father and a dead mother. Her prayers were answered by an unholy, godless creature; a handsome, charismatic, mysterious man named Henry who had recently moved to Italy from England. Anne knew right away, when they met at a bar one evening, that this man was very different: his appearance was too perfect, his voice too well tuned for her ear, his personality almost a shoe-in, handmade connection to hers. She couldn’t, however, stop herself from wanting to spend every minute with him; he really seemed to be her other half. Henry revealed to her, not long after meeting Anne, that he was a vampire, turned by an old, cynical immortal that soon let himself burn in the sun afterward, leaving Henry with nothing but questions. This was over one hundred years ago. He learned what he could over the last century, searching for someone to spend eternity with since he was, naturally, lonely. Already in love with each other, Henry turned Anne with little to no pain, and they began to share their immortal lives together. However, with the way her lifestyle changed with her new lover, suspicions arose and Vampire Hunters were called and notified of hers and Henry’s location (the Vatican being so close to her home in Italy.) During a scrabble between the Hunters and the vampires in her small hometown, Anne and Henry were separated. Anne was lost and afraid, not having her companion, maker, and lover at her side like it was supposed to be. Ever since that day, Anne has been searching for her soul mate, not knowing if he was captured and killed or just in hiding… waiting for her. Personality: Anne is very impulsive, acting on what makes her happy at an exact moment, not thinking about the consequences. With an inadequate childhood and lack of real discipline, Anne is an extreme romantic who thinks that being in love is all one needs in life. With her impulsive nature comes a hot temper that can flare up with her vampiric powers, making her a deadly if inexperienced enemy. Appearance: Spoiler: appearance
To answer your question, no, your OC does not need to be a State Alchemist in order to use alchemy (remember Izumi and Hohenhiem.) Feel free to submit an OC anytime! ^.^
Ah, I see. Most of us finished our first day, yeah, but that was it since LilBueno had to take a break, etc. >> I am happy to help in any way I can to re-vamp and make this thread stay alive! ^.^
SO... Any news on this thread? It's been.. quite a while, and if it's gone, that's fine. BUT, if there's other news, I would love to know it (as I'm sure others would, too) I'm just super-duper curious as to what's up! ^.^
:D Yay! Well you'll have to help me make it pretty with the pics and text and colors and stuffs cause I dunno how to do that >>
Aveline stood carefully from the bed, testing her weight on her healing knee. It wasn't as bad as she thought; she could lean on it slightly thanks to the potions, but she was going to have a prominent limp going home. Home, she thought worriedly, letting her chin fall to her chest, staring at her boots so Sephiroth wouldn't see the fear in her eyes. What will Father say if he's still up, waiting for me to come back? He'll want to know what happened; it's his fault I'm in this shape, but it's thanks to his tip that I even found Sephiroth... but if I'm lucky he's asleep, not caring about me anymore, as usual. "Thank you," Aveline muttered, but did not expect a "you're welcome" or even a response at all. That wasn't how this was going to work. The four men that had been walking through the alleyways and winding streets of Midgar had to stop themselves more quickly than should have been possible; the result was a messy, jumbled bunch of swearing, tripping, and drunk punching before they realized what had even made them halt. The leader of the group turned on the spot, catching his balance uneasily. "SOLDIER?" he whispered, slurring the word slightly. "No way..." His eyes were trained on the man they had just wandered past, not even believing the uniform he'd barely been able to see in the dark. They'd just beaten the hell out of a SOLDIER member, a girl, even, and now... another? How lucky could they get in one night? "Hey, kid!" the man shouted, the other three standing behind him silently, waiting. When he didn't get an immediate response, the leader moved forward a few steps. "Hey! Shinra's bitch! Little SOLDIER prick! Look at me when I'm talkin' to ya!"
Aww, lame! >.< When are we starting this thingy anyway?? :P
Psshhh... Everyone in this group already knows all this shizz... Ha... I said shizz... xD
