Your stare at the shackles that bind you, tethering you to a thick piece of wood. You try to speak but you are gagged and begin to cough. You look around to see others bound and gagged as you are, half of them asleep. You attempt to break away from the chains. They jingle loudly as you feel a sharp pain come across your back. Silent tears fall from your eyes. You start coughing again as you observe the person next to you. She's an older girl, looks about sixteen, with messy blonde hair covering most of her face. The jingling must have attracted her attention, because you see her aqua eyes staring intently at you. You see she's not gagged as she gives you a weak, meaningless smile. You hear footsteps crunch under auburn and golden leaves. You assume the man has retreated to his family's tent. You shake your head violently, and disparately use your tongue to push the gag out of your mouth. Tears of relief fall to the murky ground as you are free from the gag. You whisper to the girl, "What's your name?" The girl shakes her head as she opens her mouth wide. You gasp as you finally see it. The girl has no tongue. Your breathing becomes quick and shallow as you attempt again to break your bonds. More footsteps, and they're coming closer. "You're a bothersome demon child, aren't you? Well, might as well do it now." A man appears in front of you, a sinister smile across his face. He gags you once again and pulls out a knife. Your eyes look to the girl, as she looks away. You see where her knees rest on the ground there's traces of dried blood. Your eyes widen as you realize what's finally happening. Removing you gag, the man maniacally whispers, "This'll only hurt a little." You thrash around for some time, until a strong pair of hands force you to the ground, pinning you down. Your legs supporting your body suddenly feel weak and the man pulls out your tongue... вαcкѕтσяу: The country you are living in, named Svatantratā, is split into two territories. The North, Śānti, is where the lush, green forests and rivers are found, the whole territory teeming with life. Farming and fishing are the main revenues for the North. The South, Mauta, is a barren wasteland, where the exiled from Śānti are sent. The only traces of wildlife are fish, found in the three small ponds: Pahalē, Dūsarā, and Tīsarā and unfortunate small creatures (such as squirrels, chipmunks, and mice) that stray too far from the forests and into Mauta territory. Tired of living in such poor conditions, citizens of Mauta waged war against those of Śānti. The current situation of the war is pretty even between both territories, but Mauta may soon gain the upper hand... You are a "demon child", as everyone calls you, ones of "true evil". The village that you reside in is named Atyācāra, one out of a few in Mauta. When you turn the age of eleven, the elders of the village perform a ritual, called Acchā hai yā burā. During this ritual, you are bound to a large piece of wood and the elders cast white magic spells over each child. Those who react violently to these spells are deemed evil ones, and nicknamed "demon child". The "demon children" are kept bound to the wood, where they stay until death. Those who are "cleansed of all evil spirits" are set free and live normal lives in the village. In all reality, there's no such thing as a "demon child". Instead of casting white magic over some children, they cast black magic, thus causing those children to react violently. It is unknown why the elders of each village perform these rituals in the first place, but it is forbidden to ask and is punishable by death. Maybe the elders have something they're hiding... EDIT; I've added a new character choice, normal children. These are children (well, actually ranging from child - adult) that will help your character escape, since doing it alone is virtually impossible. I am also going to need a few of these characters, and they can also obtain a weapon if so desired. яυℓєѕ: 1. No God-Modding. 2. Do not kill a character under any circumstance unless you have the roleplayer's permission and I have proof of this permission. 3. Keep it PG-13, and no excessive gore. As you know, What? is a cherished member of the lovely KH-Vids. He's smart, funny, kind, and one of those people you're lucking to have even met. This thread is about giving back to What? for all his kindness and modesty. I've actually had this idea for a while, making an appreciation thread for a member. But What?'s thread, "Post in this thread, if you may!", really put him over the edge. I'll start: Dear What?, First and foremost, thank you so very kindly for the nice words you said about me. It really brightened my day, and will continue to light the rest of my days with those words in my mind. Now, onto the reason for this reply: I consider you one of my closest friends on KHV, you've always been so kind to me. Looking back, I realize there have been several times when I have been quite an annoying friend. But even I'm like this, you never mentioned it and continued with entertaining the masses. I am so grateful to have a friend like you. Your constant kindness and modesty is truly unmatched by anyone else. You are a unique individual, with your tastes in music, appeal in video games, etc., and yet you still find something in common with a member to make talking with you easier. I mean, it's jaw dropping, really. Plus, your intelligence is matched and may even surpass that of some of the older members (age-wise).
