;__; You had a tough time when you were younger, didn't you? I think it was the case of being surrounded by people who didn't like people 'acting' nice towards them. I hate the fact that there'll always be someone who looks down on you after you do something sweet for them. I know this for a fact because I too also like helping others, despite the fact that some of them give me the dirtiest look I've ever seen (mainly applies to chavs and old people on public transport and hate the living daylights of youth -__-).

It's better to just be kind and ignore the looks, or joke about it(it may sound odd/stupid, but its possible). Even if it's hard, you should do whats right and not follow others influence. Friends are a good source of venting as long as they're really your friends and will help you. What kind of bad things? Trust me, it's better to talk it off with a trusted person then to keep it all inside. I know from experience.
