The difference is the verb. In this, I am assuming bread is the object and I is the subject.
Watashi (I) ha (pronounced wa, indicative of subject) pan (bread) desu (is). <- that would be correct to say I am bread.
however other verbs are different such as in I make bread. Watashi ha pan wo (pronounced o) tsukaimasu (make).
I wish I could explain a bit better. It just depends on the verb. Usually you don't indicate the subject, which makes it a bit easier as well. Subject is generally in context.
For example: Mattie desu (am Mattie). Pan wo tsukaimasu (make bread). Ryouri ga suki desu (like cooking). <- three different verbs to describe, but the subject is implied in each one.

It is dead most of the time,which makes me rage. And then,because of our timeline,when it is alive,we are asleep (or you are,I am watching you sleep. Cause,ya know,I am a creeper).
