By the way, doing a bit of deeper investigation, your explanation in regards to the knock-back makes a lot of sense.

However, if Donald, Goofy, or both Donald and Goofy are in the middle of using an ability AND they're really close to Pete where they would normally get knock-back, they won't get knock-back (Past Pete obviously still would) because of the game's abilities' invincibility frames.

See 2:25 - 2:35 here where Donald tried to heal Goofy just as the scene started to change and had to wait until the next scene to try again:

Yeah, makes sense. Even though they can't move during that moment, if they're in the middle of an attacking/jumping animation, it doesn't get interrupted.

And on the subject, for some reason, I find it funny when Goofy uses Goofy Turbo just before a scene change and it just keeps making that deflecting sound. Dunno why. I just do.

In case you couldn't wait to see this fight in english in 2.5, someone who hacked the game is doing a playthrough.

I find it interesting seeing where they were in production for the english version when it was released. In the hacked fight, they don't have the updated image of the curtain for Pete's location change: it's still in 4:3, instead of extending to the sides of the screen.

It also lets you see what the camera is doing when that curtain is down.

Although for being dumb, he's quite smart in terms of avoiding damage. All the allies do this, but Goofy seems to do it the most, and that's the jumping up and back thing he does, if you know what I'm talking about.

Forgot to mention this earlier, but Sora sometimes actually stays on the camera during the transitional changes, either behind Pete alongside Donald and/or Goofy or by himself or in front of Pete, but you can only see part of him, like his weapon and hands, if the latter.

"Notice that first Sora's in frame, then the camera pans up so he's out of frame, then when it pans back down Sora's gone."

So what happens? Do you see him disappear?

No, he stays on screen during the whole transitional change.
