Not really. We all know the US is in debt, seeing numbers go by doesn't make much of a difference to me.

Then again, I am ridiculously optimistic.

Fair enough. Oh, and do you think it would lag the forum too much I were to embed a debt clock into my signature? You're the admin, soooo, yeah.

Well, nothing like looking at numbers change rapidly to pass the time. However, I don't know what they mean...

    Debt per citizen $45,685

Average annual salery in the US is arround $50,000 so if every American gave the government every cent we earned (take nothing out for food, utilities, or anything) it would still take us nearly a year to get out of debt.

Well except for the massive ammount of money lost because of lack of sales and the massive population wipe out as the most obese nation suddenly starts starving. Those tend to be set backs to such a plan.

EDIT: Oh yeah, that is also assuming the debt stopped dead in its tracks. It will take a bit longer since the debt is constantly increasing. (even if the government stops spending the reason why the counter constantly turns like that is interest)

Hovering over any of the numbers will attempt to explain them.

Obama really hasn't messed in the affairs of the rest of the world to much, at least not to my knowledge. >_>

Republicans need to stop hating on him, because seriously? Bush?

Well the debt is pretty meaningless, It's not going to get paid off and no one is going to take serious action against it anytime without facing major consequences, so. The numbers don't really mean anything to me.

Hey, I like his ideas, I just think they need to be enacted on the state level instead of the federal level. I'm similar to an Antifederalist. I want the federal government to be strong (unlike an Antifederalist), but I don't think it should do anything that works directly on an individual (and yes, I'm also counting large corporations). The federal government's job is to regulate the states, not the people. In regulating the states, the feds by extension protect the rights of the people (at least in theory).

TL;DR Version: I am a Federal level Republican and a State level Democrat. The feds should control the States, and the States should control the people.

And yes, I agree that Bush was worse than Obama. But at least he didn't violate my right to not exercise my rights. And if you're talking about the war, he had to make a decision with a lot of pressure on him. He knew Shi'ite was gonna hit the fan, and that the only way to make people calm down was to act. So he chose war. The problem is that he was not a wartime president. If he could redo his administration in a time of peace, he'd probably do far better. Just like if you take a wartime President and elect him in a time of peace. Bad things would happen.

Like the state guard of Ohio invading Michigan. And then Canada. And you do NOT want Ohio ruling Canada.

Yes, Bush. Everyone complained because he spent 4.97 trillion over the course of 8 years.

Look at how much Obama has spent now. 4 trillion+ in just 2 years. And he's talking about spending more.

We cannot take much more of this.
