Why? I mean seriously, we've all done it, but why? Why must the actions of one or two people be repeated by 10 more? BE YOUR OWN MAN!

    Thank you.

They're simply social memes, get over it.

And a meme consists of any unit of cultural information, such as a practice or idea, that gets transmitted verbally or by repeated action from one mind to another. Examples include thoughts, ideas, theories, practices, habits, songs, dances and moods and terms such as race, culture, and ethnicity. Memes propagate themselves and can move through a "culture" in a manner similar to the behavior of a virus. As a unit of cultural evolution, a meme in some ways resembles a gene. Richard Dawkins, in his book The Selfish Gene, recounts how and why he coined the term meme to describe how one might extend Darwinian principles to explain the spread of ideas and cultural phenomena. He gave as examples tunes, catch-phrases, beliefs, clothing-fashions, and the technology of building arches.

Meme-theorists contend that memes evolve by natural selection through the processes of variation, mutation, competition, and inheritance influencing an individual entity's reproductive success. So with memes, some ideas will propagate less successfully and become extinct, while others will survive, spread, and, for better or for worse, mutate. "Memeticists argue that the memes most beneficial to their hosts will not necessarily survive; rather, those memes that replicate the most effectively spread best, which allows for the possibility that successful memes may prove detrimental to their hosts." Wiki is a wonderful thing.

Didn't read a word of that. I just did this to see how many others would make a thread with the same title. It worked. I rest my case.

    ...
    hypocritical.

according to you...a fad is something done by more than 10 members...

more than 20,000 people have signed up to be apart of khv...
kingdom hearts isnt really a "fad." Its something everyone likes. I think you are getting confused between a "fad" and something many people at once enjoy. A fad is something that wannabes participate in because they think it looks cool...when usually the people who start the fad are not apart of the fad at all...

its like those livestrong bracelets: lance armstrong produced them for a certain cause he wanted to support. People who nothing about the cause wore them because at the time they seemed "fashionable."

lol, as for the armstrong bracelet comment, it still worked, the bracelets still raised millions of dollars for cancer research and treatment. Fads can be a good thing.

I never once claimed that anything with more than 10 people was a fad, I was just using a random number, and I never said KHV or the KH franchise was a fad.
