Yes, this is necessary, because I can hardly keep track of like five or six people on my friends list thanks to name changes and I'm not putting all my bros & hos through that mess

I like using the term "Music Nerd"...mostly cause I'm not in band.

 

I can certainly tell that such a name change is quite sudden and forceful.
