From an acting standpoint, it's easier to kiss someone in-character because I am being that character and not letting my emotions getting in the way. Mind you, I have never had to kiss a guy while acting, but I have had a kidding scene or two with girls I don't exactly get along with. Neither I nor they had a problem because at the end of the day, we weren't ourselves.

I very rarely have to kiss anyone on stage, and the thought that generally runs through my head is that I'm not actually kissing them. I have no legitimate romantic feelings toward that person, therefore I don't actually give a sh*t. It's the character kissing them, not me.
And then there's the fact that, when acting, I am not me. I am that character. I am being that character, and Fearless is not here right now. What is Character doing right now? They're kissing Other Character for some reason. That is Character's business, not Fearless's.

At the end of the day it's just a job. Whether you're kissing another dude/chick or you're trying to kill the boy who lived you do it because it's a part of the job. It's another obstacle you have to overcome to get that paycheck every week. Just like a plumber has to deal with clogged drains or an IT has to deal with perverts *cough* it's just another part of the job.

To be honest I couldn't really say whether the actors who portray homosexuals in the movies are actually straight; likewise I couldn't say if the actors who portray straight individuals are homosexual in real life. I don't reed enough tabloids to keep up with that stuff.

You know, I think the whole "it's the character doing it, not the actor" can be said for non-sexual scenes as well. For example, in an episode of iCarly, Spencer (Jerry Trainor) had to dress up like a lady and be Sam's (Jennette McCurdy) mother when Sam was trying to leave the mental hospital she checked herself into, but couldn't leave without a parent's signature.
