Right...sorry but I have a serious rant now. Rant If you like Mario, you do, and it's 'Sonic has never beat Mario and never will'. I don't mean to be **** here but if you are going to diss an entire thread about Sonic and people discussing our likes and dislikes of SONIC, then first off you shouldn't have brought Mario into it and second off, don't kill us with bad fanboy grammar and spelling. Mario to some of us is definitely not what he used to be. Others who like Sonic also like Mario and some people posting here may like Mario more than Sonic. Doing this post was just lame on several levels. I really haven't liked a Mario game in a very long time and oh well. We all have our likes and dislikes. Why bother posting that in a Sonic thread? Good job starting another fanboy/girl issue. To someone that likes Mario more, that's not going to be true. It's all a matter of opinion. Let him have his though he should not have even posted it in a thread about Sonic, while we have ours. And because I got on him for spelling..it's 'forever'. I have to be fair, though your sentence wasn't the butchery the other one was. I think you need to be pointing that Fanboy Alert at yourself. Anyone that uses that silly argument of 'if it wasn't for Mario, Sonic wouldn't exist so you have to like him' is really needing a wake up call. Mario can be appreciated for what the dude did for Nintendo, but if people don't enjoy the games, that wonderful line means absolutely nothing. I loved the early Mario games but I'm sorry to say that I have felt that Mario games were on the decline long before Sonic games were. Is that a personal opinion? Yes. So is your opinion that people who don't like Mario games as much as Sonic games should bow down and kiss the plumber's ass and buy the games that we don't enjoy because we should be grateful. Sonic fans do not -all- hate or dislike Mario. Some of us just don't really care about Mario games anymore as they've lost interest years ago. Others enjoy them. We don't need constantly reminded that Mario helped save Nintendo anymore. It's been drilled into our heads for YEARS. Anyway, that ends my rant. Mario doesn't even belong in a discussion about Sonic. I see why initially it may have been brought in but really, can we just toss it out so we can actually talk on the subject matter that the thread was made about in the first place? My apologies for the offensiveness but some people are trying hard to be nothing but offensive and challenging as others want to talk things out on what the thread is about. Let it go already, people. /rant.
Hmm, I like quite a few a lot. Devil May Cry 3, Metal Gear Solid any of them were good, FF6, FF7, FF8, Legend of Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, Chrono Trigger and Cross. Those are the ones that come to mind any way at the moment.
There is some Yu Gi Oh card maker out there that I forget where it is. I didn't make any of mine though. I just took them from sites.
I live in NY too and it is something to hear the names of the victims again. I have gone by the place too a few times and just felt overwhelmed though in the past couple years I deal with it better. It's something I won't forget because so many people died and I remember being at home that day because I was actually sick and waking my mom to watch the news. My parents were pretty upset and we did know a few people that died in that, to include an uncle and aunt. We had phone calls all day and finally just gathered all of our relatives together and waited as it was going on since phone lines were pretty tied up. I had, and still do have, a lot of respect for the people who went and helped there. It's a definite reminder to me that no matter where you live tragedy can happen and it opened my eyes more to what people in some other countries go through constantly. It makes me all the more grateful I live here in the U.S. because we don't face this kind of thing as much as other places have had to, even though we had a great dose of it all at once.
Basic Buddhism doesn't prevent 'swearing'. Swear words are only such because they offend some people. In old times there were actual 'curses' people would say that would use gods' names such as 'Zeus damn you' etc and with Christianity and Islam etc too. That is what 'curse words' actually meant initially. Crass words such as the alternates for crap, sex, etc ..these were just words that became worse because some people were so offended by them. They aren't really curse words at all but 'disgusting' words to some because they talk about body functions or parts. You can say 'sex' but can't say the F word. You can say 'boob' but can't say 'tit'. You can say crap but not the S word etc. It makes really no sense in the end. What Buddhism does teach is how to use 'right speech' for the 'right time'. If I were walking down the street talking to some people that cuss a lot, I may too do that. If I'm at school, I probably won't much at all. If I'm around little kids, I will not say crass words around them. If I'm in a business meeting, I probably won't either. If I'm at home and stub my toe, oh yeah, I'm saying some good crass words. If someone upsets or angers me, yes, I may some some crass words. Why? Because they are exclamation words. Since some people find them offensive, I try to curb my tongue in their audience and it isn't that hard. However, I am pretty much a Buddhist-Atheist and have been for years and there simply really is no rule against using 'profane' language. It's more about molding yourself to be right in the right place you are. Centering yourself and gaining control of your life so that you don't just do things that are 'wrong' habitually when you know they are. This kind of goes along with right thought. If you can think calmly you will speak calmly. You can work on your presentation to others and work on how you feel about yourself too. I hope this makes sense because Buddhism in the west is greatly misunderstood. To a Buddhist, if you are yelling, out of control, raging etc, it doesn't matter if you use non-crass words. You are still avoiding the issue of inner peace.

Sonic has been not doing well for some time and it saddens me somewhat. I've played the games for years and it seems that with 3d, games became better and then went on a steady decline. Where I became annoyed mostly was with the introduction of new characters that were modeled after Sonic, like Silver. I know people that like the character but to me, these kinds of mistakes are what are putting Sonic in the hole, along with the stories that aren't as good. Also, I feel sometimes the new Sonic games are totally catering to Otaku and furries way more than they used to. That's great for them but bad for those people like me who well, aren't into it. Nintendo on the whole seems to be doing that lately and it's becoming harder to find interest in it. Probably some of my jadedness does come from having stupid 'fanboy' debates where they actually try to -force- my opinions out and I really see no reason to discuss it with them because they will get offended. As for bringing up Mario, I have to say that I haven't cared for Mario in 3d games hardly at all. Sonic evolved well, but Mario just didn't seem to -for me- so no one take offense please. I still have more enjoyment playing older Mario stuff than I do games with him or his buddies that are current. I don't really see how bringing Mario into this though matters. It is, after all, about Sonic. Sonic fans really do not have to like Mario or any other game for that matter nor do we owe an allegiance to another game because it came first. I've had to have this argument with people too. If I like Spiderman, do I have to like Superman too? It's the same point here really. I hope the Sonic games improve. Will I probably still try to buy new games? Yeah, because I grew up with Sonic so I have to hope it will get better. Really, right now Sonic, Zelda and Mega Man games are the only reasons I even stick with Nintendo at all anymore as they still hold interest for me. So here's to hoping the next game will be an improvement and that no more rip-off Sonic characters are born so Sonic himself and Tails etc can see more of the spot light again.
