Each time he was denied due to his physical ailments. Eventually, he was chosen to undergo an experiment to be the world's first super-solder. The experiment was a success, turning Steve from a weakling to one of the strongest men in America. He later donned the Red, White and Blue outfit, along with his shield made of Vibranium, and became Captain America. After defeating the Red Skull, he crashed his ship into the antarctic, freezing himself there. He was eventually found and thawed out by S.H.I.E.L.D. He currently serves as the first member of The Avengers.
