A Past, a Present, from a Nobody and a Calling

Heh, oh glory is what’s sung in songs now, but I’ve never seen any kind of glory anywhere around here. People think that it’s there, because they want to think it. I want to, but I can’t…. I’m fighting for my life-I’ve been fighting since I was 12. I can see the reality that people don’t see. It’s cruel. It’s evil. It’s something that no one wants to see.

When I was a child, I was beaten. My parents hated me, but I tried to love them. They thought I was a monster, something that shouldn’t have been born into this world. My parents were drunks and I was probably the cause of it. You know, now that I think about it, I don’t remember them ever being nice to me…. But then both my parents got really sick, and my dad died first. I tried to go and talk to him before he died, but he didn’t want me in the same room with him…. Then my mother was on the edge of dying. I went to her room, while she was still mostly asleep one morning, and stood over her, looking at her beautiful face… I started to talk to her, “Mom, I know you and dad never liked me, or loved me… but before you die, I just wanted to say something to you, that I didn’t get the chance to tell dad…. I love you. And I’m sorry I was ever born… If I could go back now, and stop myself from being born just to make you happy, I swear I would.†I said. She turned her head to me, looking into my eyes, her eyes full of tears and with her last breathe and her hand on mine, she said, “I love you… and… thank…. You….†Then, her body relaxed, and she died.

From that day on, I traveled all across the world, helping others. I know, that this whole time I’m down here helping people; my mom is watching me do what she always wanted to do. And I know it makes her happy.
