Nick has released the new episode about half an hour ago!

That was sooooo good. I loved how it focused on the secondary characters and bringing us up to speed with everyone. Prince Wu is a riot and Mako freaking out about having to relocate was hilarious. Wu definitely continues the "terrible leader" trend of Ba Sing Se royalty so far, and it'd be interesting to see him grow out of it and mature in a way his sheltered Grandpa and his Great Aunt hadn't.

Republic City: AVATAR KORRA PARK & A STATUE FINALLY GETTING THE RESPECT SHE DESERVES FOR SAVING THAT CITY LIKE 12 TIMES.

Asami: Asami <33333 It's good to see she's stabilized her company more and is bringing it towards a brighter future. Varrick mentioned railroads before so there is a definite possibility for a business connection between her and Kuvira, and it'll be interesting to hear what Asami thinks of that when she figures out Kuvira is in Conquest Mode.

Bolin/Opal/Kai: Opal and Kai, the friendship I never knew I wanted to see. I just really liked the segment with that Earth Kingdom town. It showed off more of Opal's personality and her loyalty to her mother and people that need help. I hope they do something with her conflict with her brother re: Kuvira and the Metal Clan, and I have faith it'll probably be addressed at some point. I also REALLY liked that the drama between her and Bolin is actually organic and believable; she knows he's only in it to do the right thing, but she can see all too clearly about Kuvira what he can't. And it feels like Bolin's matured a lot, which is real nice to see.

Airbabies: "MEELO THE BOY IS NOW MEELO THE MAN" AMAZING. All of them looks so precious, especially lil chub master Rohan.

Kuvira: lol why is she marrying that scrub when I'm alive???? God DAMN, I was expecting her to be a little Satsuki-like but I swear to god I could almost hear the trumpets blazing when she beat down those bandits. As much as her motives probably are genuine, Kuvira definitely seems like she wants and is amassing power without any real resistance. Even Tenzin seemed not to question her when he, Raiko, and Lin were talking about her in the beginning. It seems like Opal and the Earth kingdom citizens are really the only ones who are picking up the conquest vibe of the "Great Uniter," and I guess that makes sense since they're directly affected by her actions moreso than Republic City.

I do wonder what the breaking up point between her and Suyin was following the Red Lotus stuff, though like I said before I'm thinking it was probably Suyin hesitating about moving to take the reigns to unite the Earth Kingdom and Kuvira saying "fuck this weakass shit" and goin' off to do her thing. How much of the Metal Clan is supporting her I wonder? Judging from what she's said, 90% of the Earth Kingdom is united beneath her army, so even if it is just a few of them, she's still got a pretty huge selection of potential soldiers waiting at her command.

Her bending against the bandits was badass and her "negotiations" (aka CONQUEST MARCH) was so good. She's so morally dubious and I love it. Love this female villain.

It was brought up in an interview Mike & Bryan had with IGN, but Kuvira is a little reminiscent of Korra in some ways. Both have this unyielding, fearless spirit and are these sort fo aggressive personalities. Sparks are definitely gonna fly when they come to a head, and I am so pumped for that fight.

    Speaking of Korra...

Korra: I WAS EXPECTING THIS, I had a feeling when they entioned she was coming back that she wasn't gonna be there, but damn. Her haircut is looking more and more like it was to sever the past and back away from the role of the Avatar to find herself. She seems so downtrodden and lost my baby :(((( Her bending has no doubt been affected by her inner turmoil and very likely the time it took for her to recuperate, and allegedly from that IGN video the next episode is going to show her recovery (physically & somewhat mentally) in the time skip. I'm so excited by her journey to find herself aw maaaaaaaaaaan.

Book 4 is shaping up super well from this first episode, definitely hoping they keep up the momentum and don't falter.

Crunchyroll is selling a P4AU bundle with the preorder swag & two bonus items for $54.99, with free shipping for those who live in the US, so cancel those Amazon orders and save yourself some $$$.

$20-$30 seems look a good deal, though I'd be willing to buy at $40 (if only because that's what they've been charging for the other HD remakes for KH), especially if they include KHX stuff as well.

Also hoping they release it for PS4/XBONE. KH3D offers summaries of every other game in the series (with glossaries) so it would definitely be a smart move in catching people up, especially those on Xbox who may have never played, on all the important facts leading into KH3. And I hope KHX gets packaged in as well since Nomura is bad at keeping his promises that browser games won't be relevant to the overall plot.

Paycheck gets in tomorrow after being delayed so P4AU preorder here I come 8)

imo the approach to the dungeons are definitely the weakest parts of both the games
P3 & P4 have opposite problems in how they went about it (P3 was super long and same-y but it didn't get in the way of daily events and P4 had various short dungeons but you could only go during the day). Hopefully P5 enables a more intricate design to how they're done & when you can do them

@Cat~ I'd say it's probs best to train on the weekends since there isn't toooo much available/happening then. It does take away from a chance at leveling up your S. Links but at least you'll have the main week available to get down to it (unless you're on the clock to Do The Thing with The TV). There are those Golden Hand shadows that give a ridiculous amount of EXP if you beat them, so you could also farm off those then.

    bobcut korra is so hot
    ponytail asami is so hot
lady sozin kuvira is so hot

Anyway, really dug this trailer. There was a theory on Tumblr that Kuvira turned out this way because she had good intentions of wanting to restore balance to the Earth Kingdom following what the Red Lotus did in Ba Sing Se, and she comes into conflict with Suyin about it during the 3 year time skip. I could definitely see Suyin not really wanting to step up to the plate since she did state she thought queens were "outdated," and she does really seem to value Zaofu and the Metal Clan as being this autonomous entity and doing their own thing. Kuvira could easily grow more and more frustrated until she starts to amass power & backing from over the Earth Kingdom if she goes out to support people, remove Suyin from leadership of the Metal Clan, and start a campaign to bring prosperity to the rest of the Earth Kingdom in a very Sozinesque way.

And we know how a Sozin plan goes; 1 dash of world war, and 3 metric tons of the genocide of a nation, the bending population of another nation, and the near razing of another), so the stakes are pretty high in all regards. Granted in terms of scale Vaatu was the biggest threat ever, but this conflict has more of an emotional punch to it because we know how this story goes and know that if Kuvira is left unchecked, the world is gonna go back to it was during the 100 Years War and would produce another Ozai in time.

Plus, this is really Korra's chance to solve her series long identity crisis over who she is and what role she has to play within the world. For so long all the villains have been telling her she wasn't needed, that for three years the world has gotten on fine without her due to the Air Nation taking up her duties; maybe the world doesn't need the Avatar as we've grown to know it to move on, but it does need Korra to pull together everything she's learned and felt and redefine what it means to be the Avatar within this world and for herself. Korra needs to find balance within herself* in order to bring it to the world, and I'm sooooooooo interested in seeing the culmination of her journey.

*in the video it looks like she hits The Swamp from ATLA and is fighting the Forced Avatar State version of herself in a hallucination, so we will prob see a lot of development of her character in this season and it's gonna be so great

    Other note worthy points:
    • why is Bolin in the Metal Clan
    • ZHU LI IS THAT THE RIGHT THING TO DO
    • Asami fight *u*
    • Mako looks ridiculous & I love it

Read the thread hours ago & forgot what the other posts said, but I agree with the notion it's probably best for your friend to try to avoid using it in videos open to the public eye like that. The point I belieeeeeeeeve Misty was trying to say earlier, (as I said, forgot what everyone else was sayin'), was that you have to be mindful of who it is you're around when you say certain things. For public venues like YT videos, you never really know who your audience is going to be composed of and it should be something people keep in mind; even if it is casual language between buds or culturally accepted in your area doesn't mean it's acceptable to everyone else, especially on a plane as open & diverse as the Internet. If no one asks about it or says "this makes me uncomfortable," that's one thing, but if people do step forward and do say it's something that makes them feel uncomfortable/unsafe/etc., we should be mindful & try to respect that wish even if it is just that one person.

In cases where things are private and only you/other people who defined it as okay to say & use, I don't think it really matters to have a filter because...no one in that private setting cares. v: One of my friends and I call each other "*****" pretty liberally in friendly banter/conversations (she much more than I do), because we've defined we're both comfortable with that and only do it when we are talking on the phone or by ourselves. If we're in a public setting, I wouldn't use it because of how it could effect passerbys (and, tbh, I've mostly removed "*****" from my vocabulary outside of very rare cases where no other words come to mind at that time -- even then it's never verbalized).

re: reclaiming words & poc as a term

I see the benefit of reclaiming words and think it's fine, though I will not lie when I do hear people saying "*****" & whatever whenever I'm out & about. My brother says this a lot and while I'm mostly used to it, I do still say "yo cool down dang." Even my mom has told him to cool it with using it as much as he has, lol.

IN regards to the phrase "people of color" though, people probably already know I am like...the least fan of it, lol. I really don't like it because it just seems incredibly lazy to me. Like, someone was trying to figure out a way to get away from "majority/minority," took "colored people" off a sign from the 60s and said to themselves "switch these around & add a preposition BOOM EVERYTHING IS SOLVED!"

This isn't to mention the fact that "colored people" as a phrase was used to oppress black people along with ******/***** back before & during the civil rights movement, and while we certainly can (and apparently, have) reclaimed it, there are still people alive from those days who it can be pretty weird for to see white people (and people in general) throwing it around w/o a filter. I've been so tempted to ask my parents & my grandma especially what they think about it, and I really should some day. Like I said, this does go back into the reclaiming words debate and that's just where I stand with this particular phrase.

    also, y'know:

at the base understanding of things, the commonality between people that aren't white is that they've been oppressed by white people. the racial oppression faced by black culture at the hands of white culture are different than those faced by people from indian culture, or iraqian culture, or korean culture, or native american culture. even in just looking at just america, black people were slaves, japanese people were put in internment camps, native americans were rounded up and shoved into tiny reserves. yes we are all oppressed, but those forms of oppression are distinct from each other and the experiences within them are radically different from one another when you get to the details.

while "people of color" does stand as a stance of solidarity and is now the accepted term in discussion and academic discourse, it does generalize and, unless specifically looking at a certain culture, does almost erase the fact that oppression amongst these cultures is very different. i accept the fact that this is The Term for right now and i can't argue it for now, but i do hope that a better term comes along sooner or later because this one grinds my gears almost as much as "minority" did, lol. :L
