To coincide with the release of Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix in Japan, the Kingdom Hearts Memorial Ultimania also saw a release. This guide contains content pertaining to every single Kingdom Hearts game that has been made available in addition to some some exclusive interviews and messages. Included among this was a message from series creator, Tetsuya Nomura regarding Kingdom Hearts III.

We didn't hear much about Kingdom Hearts III during TGS, however Famitsu was conducted an interview with Nomura where he shares the latest information about the game as well as the possibility of a HD remaster of Dream Drop Distance. Here are some tidbits from the interview:

  • There have been reports from the media that Frozen was going to be a world in Kingdom Hearts III. This is false as there have been no confirmed worlds for the game yet, however Nomura says that Frozen is neither "confirmed or denied" for inclusion.
  • Choosing new worlds for Kingdom Hearts III is proving to be a difficult task.
  • Square Enix is strongly considering creating an HD Remaster for Kingdom Hearts 3D.
  • There are some engine-related issue that is giving the development team some issues, however right now they have advanced in the scenario writing and world choices, as well as deciding on new designs for Sora and Riku's outfits.
  • According to the the Osaka team, Sora’s mobility needs to be nerfed as he feels almost invincible by his end-game levels.
  • They are currently a great variety of Keyblade transformations and Nomura compared it to Birth by Sleep's original way of fighting with Keyblades.
There is more to the interview, which you can read in full at SiliconEra.

After almost a decade of working on Final Fantasy XV, Tetsuya Nomura will be handing over directing duties of the Final Fantasy title to Hajime Tabata (Type-0 director) in order to focus on Kingdom Hearts III.

Amongst other postings for a Tech Artist (who work on things like physics and environments) and a UI Designer, the Osaka Studio -- aka the people developing Kingdom Hearts III -- also seem to be interested in some online capabilities after a posting for a Network Programmer. Square-Enix is also recruiting for a new studio focused on console RPGs, so it's really been a week of job openings!

The posting for the Osaka team is in Japanese, but Dualshockers reports:
Fans of the series have lamented that the upcoming Kingdom Hearts II.5 HD Remix will not include the Mirage Arena, a special world in Birth by Sleep where up to six friends can team up for a variety of battles and challenges. Interviews with Tetsuya Nomura and Tai Yasue have remained open to the idea of multiplayer for Kingdom Hearts III but have not confirmed anything.

Given Dualshockers' evaluation of the posting, it seems unlikely that the ad pertains to Kingdom Hearts III. However, we'd love to hear what you all would like to see in KH3 multiplayer. It's worth noting that the Osaka Studio is responsible for the Dissidia series and other spin-off titles, so it's entirely possible that the posting has nothing to do with Kingdom Hearts at all -- but maybe a Kingdom Hearts Dissidia?

It's up in the air right now, but we'd love to hear your best speculations!
As E3 continues, Kotaku was able to catch up with Kingdom Hearts co-director, Tai Yasue, who provided some words on Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMix and Kingdom Hearts 3, which can be read below:
