Final Kingdom Hearts II Manga Volume to be Released in May 2017

It looks like the final Kingdom Hearts II Manga is finally being translated and released! Last week, Yen Press announced on their Twitter that they would be releasing it, but gave no details:

However, it looks like they've finally made a page on their site for this final volume. According to their webpage, Kingdom Hearts II Volume 4 will be released on May 23rd, 2017. It will cost $24 and can be brought on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and other places listed on their website.

I know I personally have been waiting for awhile for this to come out and I was actually worried that Yen Press may have forgotten about Kingdom Hearts! Does anyone else plan to pick it up?

Fully Translated Nomura Interview for Dengeki Playstation's 600th Issue

While a summary of Nomura's recent interview with Dengeki Playstation has been leaked, a fully translated version is available thanks to KHInsider's goldpanner. First off, Nomura writes a congratulatory message to Dengeki Playstation for reaching its 600th issue milestone, saying:

Congratulations on your 600th issue. Thank you for your long-time support. I also feel some kind of fate at play in how the timing of your 600th issue celebration has coincided with the announcement of KH2.8. I drew for this issue with a spirit of celebration and congratulations towards both. Due to my schedule situation the picture of King Mickey and friends is something I drew a while ago, but to give it a sense of unity, I recolored and reorganized it from scratch to match this one. Actually, I wanted to have that Chirithy on the far right there holding a pen and do a handwritten congratulatory message in the upper right corner, but I had to leave it out due to the layout. As for what I was going to write, I hope you can see it with your heart. Come to think of it, I have been asked to draw covers a few times in the past. I have deep and bitter memories of being asked to redraw one for Parasite Eve. I didn't redraw it in the end though, which is a good memory, haha. Besides the announcement of KH2.8, there's still KH3 to follow, so if there's another chance to work with you I'll look forward to it. Plus, when you get to issue 700 or 777 etc, I've got FFVII on the way, so I'll look forward to that too.

As for the actual interview, there isn't much difference to what was already revealed in the summary, but it is still an interesting read, and can be read below:

The term 'lost masters' comes up in the conversation at the start of KH3 between Xehanort and Eraqus. Do those people also have some connection to the story of KHχ[chi]?

Nomura: That is content to be explored from hereon in χ[chi], Unchained χ[chi], and χ[chi]: Back Cover, but the term will be used in KH3.

Developments so far have shown us that Master Xehanort's keyblade is a special blade. Will the setup surrounding that be further revealed in KH3?

Nomura: Things will be told in χ[chi]: Back Cover that connect to KH3.

In KH3, which is to be the last installment in the Dark Seeker saga, will we get a clear definition of what exactly series-keyword 'kingdom hearts' is?

Nomura: This also touches on endgame things so I still can't say how much, but more will be told than has been so far.

Please tell us about the content of the Kingdom Hearts Premium Theatre event that will be held at D23 on the 3rd of November.

Nomura: Last time we went with the concept of 'Stage'. This time it's 'Theatre', so please look forward to a video.

In KH3D you touched upon the 'seven lights' and 'thirteen darknesses' that serve as the groundwork of what will be continued in KH3. Who (or what) do they refer to?

Nomura: Aside from what has already been revealed in KH3D, we will be keeping who they are under wraps until the final stages of KH3, so I suggest you look forward to finding out.

What transformations (newly available abilities etc) appear upon becoming a Keyblade Master?

Nomura: It is a title, so rather than big changes or the like, it's more that you possess officially recognized succession. Masters are taught through theory what they ought to accomplish, such as being conferred missions to go follow teachings.

While Aqua wandered the Realm of Darkness, we believe that in the outside world the events of KH1 to the very end of KH2 took place. Will BBS 0.2 include links to that?

Nomura: It's a story that connects to KH3, so naturally there are links in that area.

Who was speaking in the newest trailer for χ[chi]: Back Cover?

Nomura: Chirithy.

Please give us the rundown on new characters Chirithy, the Foretellers, and Ephemera.

Nomura: Chirithy is the player's guide in the χ[chi] series. There are as many of them as there are players. There are still many mysteries about the Chirithies, and I am often asked by players of χ[chi] and staff alike whether they are enemies or allies. The Foretellers are people who are prototypes of what are now called Keyblade Masters. The world of χ[chi] develops upon their prophecies. Ephemera is a boy who, like the player, is a Keyblade Wielder collecting light. However, feeling doubt over the estrangement of the organizations run by each Foreteller known as Unions, he is trying to investigate the mysteries of the world.

In the newest trailer for χ[chi]: Back Cover, words such as 'Master of Masters', 'six disciples' and 'traitor' appeared. Please tell us a little about each of them.

Nomura: The Master of Masters is the teacher of the six disciples, and the person who brought Chirithy into the world. He is rather eccentric, but revered by the six. As I have answered before, five of the six disciples each formed a Union and now have a following of Keyblade Wielders. As for the remaining disciple, nothing has been said about them anywhere yet, so please wait for χ[chi]: Back Cover. As for the traitor, that is the keyword which the plot of χ[chi]: Back Cover revolves around, so I think this too will be revealed in χ[chi]: Back Cover.

New Kingdom Hearts 2.5 screens showcase the game in its HD glory

No doubt to celebrate Kingdom Hearts 2.5's release in Japan yesterday, and its upcoming release in North America, Europe, and Australia, PlayStation posted some lovely new screens to their Facebook page! In contrast to some of the previously advertised screens, this set features a mixture of images in 720p and 1080p. Check them out below (click each to bring up a larger version and to quickly scroll through them).

Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix will be available in North America, Australia, and Europe on the 2nd, 4th, and 5th of December respectively. You can find information about preordering in your region & from select retailers on this handy page.

New Famitsu Interview with Nomura

With the release of Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMix in Japan, Famitsu has conducted another interview with Kingdom Hearts series director, Tetsuya Nomura, sharing some of his thoughts on the remastered games, as well as comments on the new scenes included (which have yet to appear online). What are the highlights of KH2FM HD?

Nomura: KH2's map and production have much more density than KH, and the characters are more numerous as well. In HD, you can see well even the expressions of characters that are in the background and understand the circumstances with more ease. Since KH2 has much more information, I think it greatly benefits from the HD remaster.

Among everything that was included in the FInal Mix version, what would you recommend?

Nomura: The battle against the Lingering Will. Among all the series' titles, it stands for 1st or 2nd most famous battle. It's quite hard to defeat it, but even if you don't, I want everyone to taste its power. Depending on whether you fought it or not, I think your feelings for BbS will change. In 2.5, BBS is also included, so I'd recommend playing KH2 and fighting the Lingering Will first, before going on to play BBS.

What are the highlights of BBS FM HD?

Nomura: Comparing to KH2FM, which we could almost leave as it was, the production of BBS HD was much more major, since it was originally designed for a handheld. The amazing part is feeling it in a way you've never seen before, I guess. Story-wise, it has 3 characters and many shocking scenes, so you can't just squeeze it in one story. I daresay the Secret Movie is one of those shocking scenes. Among the whole series, I think it's one of the most touching, so I hope you enjoy watching it in HD.

Among everything that was included in the FInal Mix version, what would you recommend?

Nomura: The Secret Episode. It's an evolution of all the Secret Movies I've put in the games so far, because it's playable. You can feel the pace of the story and the battle, so I'm glad I made it like that. By the way, the indication for Birth By Sleep -Volume 2- is still there. It shows the existence of Aqua's story in the Realm of Darkness. It means that she didn't just wander about in the Darkness for ten years, but that she passed through many experiences. However, it is a "Fragmentary Passage", as the same suggests-- that story was severed and wasn't told. I hope I can tell it when given the opportunity.

What are the highlights of KH Re:coded HD?

Nomura: Everything! The original text dialogues were changed to fit being voiced, and the feel you get from it has changed a lot. For example, in Alice's world, the texts that ended in "right?" were changed to "riiiight?" in the voice acting. We used the production of original anime as basis for this. And it is a title full of discoveries. Also, I tried to make it a feature film that links the story very well when adding the Disney Worlds, battle scenes and narrations.

Tell us more about the new scenes.

Nomura: I've added 2 brand new scenes. One of them contains the word "Tome of Prophecy" which is related to KHχ[chi] as well. Currently, there are many people that seem to think KHχ[chi] isn't canon, so I intended to make people realize that indeed there is a connection, by adding some elements from KHχ[chi] in 2.5. The other scene is from KH3D, before Axel (Lea) and the others wake up. If I tell too much about it, I think many doubts will come forth, so I'll leave it to your imagination.

Kingdom Hearts II - Volume 6 Manga release date

Amazon has opened up a new page depicting the 6th Japanese Volume in the Kingdom Hearts II manga line-up. The publisher; Gangan comics has not released a Mange from the series' third game since 2009, making this issue to have a time frame of nearly 4 years.
According to Gangan, it will be released on May 22nd 2013 for the price of 470 Yen.
