Chapter 2 of this was extremely creepy, but the later ones just evolved into being goofy. Honest question: Does this get creepy again?

That's pretty much Junji Ito in a nutshell. It's almost like he designed his work to be read in handfuls, the reader never knowing which stories are going to be horrifying or hilarious until it's too late. I can't decide if he's a genius or a loon.

 

It is amazing how often those two traits coincide.

 

That's basically how all of Junji's works are.
He made a manga about zombie sea animal cyborgs once.

 

Sounds like an interesting man...I'll bet hes the type to make it up as he goes along as opposed to actually planning anything xDD

 

Eh I don't think so. Good stories need some semblance of a plan at least, I'm sure.
