Video Game: Kingdom Hearts SOS: The Road To Light

Eon placed his hand on the old man. Most would see him as crazy and confused, but Eon had seen this before. Back in his home, many were considered to be insane and tell stories of the impossible. After a while, you could learn the fakes from the truth. This man was one of those who had told the truth. Besides, Eon had seen weirder.

"We'll help get your daughter back, sir. We can guard you back to the castle as well if you'll show us the way." He smiled trying to comfort him.

 

Etrius attacked full force, knocking guard after guard, until he blew right next to Cat, charging head-on to one of the other guards that Cat wasn't targeting. The guard took the blow well, managing to stay on his feet. He disregarded his sword, and held up two large fists in a good battle stance.
"I'm not amused, lunkhead." Etrius said, red eyes burning with annoyance, pointing the Oathkeeper at his foe, "You face me one-on-one, yet you use your fellow comrades for chopped liver. Dishonorable, much?"
The guard only growled in response. Etrius just shook his head. Though he wasn't egotistical, Etrius knew that NONE of these guards, Captain or not, did not have any intelligence whatsoever.
"Ok, just get a closed casket at the ugly cemetery then." Etrius said. Suddenly he was gone. The guard's eyes widened as he saw 4 more comrades get taken out by a black-and-red blur. Then, the blur turned to the current guard. The guard held up his fists defensively, but he was trembling.
Etrius was getting closer and closer, immediately sensing the Captain's fear. 7 feet. 5 feet. 3 feet.
Then, everything seemed to slow down. But Etrius didn't attack with his Keyblade. Not first, anyway. His right fist suddenly tinted, as he drew it, and weaved it around the guards arms, catching the guard's chin. As the guard lowered his defense out of pain after Etrius's first hit, Etrius threw his left arm with his Keyblade, smashing the guard in the side of the head.
The guard, clearly angered this time, threw two wild punches, but missed on both. Etrius parried another, then ducked down low on a fourth one. After the fourth, Etrius poised both his left and right arms, and then brought them upward, smashing the guards chin a second time. Etrius put so much force into the attack that his own body did a double backflip. Etrius landed safely, but the guard, literally toppled like a wall. He was out.
Etrius had stood, wondering why he had instinctively raised his right arm for attacking, and soon found out why. His right arm was emitting black smoke, as he would usually if he used darkness. But the smoke was only emitting from his right arm; on his left, the Oathkeeper let off a warm glow.
"Darkness and light cannot exist without the other." Etrius thought. He was a bit surprised, as he never knew if he had any light whatsoever, but at the same time, he felt grateful.
Etrius then turned to see that there standing behind him were more guards. They had their mouths hanging open, paler than porridge. Etrius surprised look turned to one of determination. He turned and glared right at the guards as he shouted, "Go ahead! Make my day! Though I'd love to take all of you maggots single-handedly, I'd like to leave some of you to my friends. If any of you sorry sacks of scum have ANYTHING to say about that," Etrius's dark arm flared with dark energy, and his Oathkeeper glowed a little brighter as he finished, "COME AT ME!"

Face to face with the talking monstrosity, Base felt a tad uneasy. His strongest impulse was to run, but his comrades kept him glued to the spot. The Beast had such a particular voice...

"We mean you no harm." Base emulated the Beast's gruff, heavy tone. "We are Magicians and Warriors." It was true. They were, but just how useful that information was to a Beast, Base had no idea. "We wish to speak with you." Base connected two and two together. That roar was not far off from the sound of the original roar they had heard in the dungeon. Whatever this creature was, it seemed to run the roost, or at least think that it did. If it were truly a monster, a young woman wouldn't have been just walking out of that room, but probably would have been something that the Beast would be picking out of his terrible terrible. Maybe, just maybe, the Beast could be reasoned with. When the Beast began its charge, Base cast a Blizzard spell instinctively to slow the monster's momentum.

"To be honest, I'm sorry about that. I just want to talk." Base used his own voice to speak.

 

Kross quietly listened to Maurice as he explained about the beast. He felt sorry for the man, it seemed the oldster had a really bad experience at the castle.wait, the castle? That's it! That's where the others were, they weren't off course, they landed right where they needed to be. He stood up, hearing footsteps through the snow and turned, seeing the young lad head towards him. The guilty smile made him smile and he waved off the implied apology."You're just in time Eon." He said. He took a look at Eon and Karina and turned to them."Eon's got the right idea, we can escort Maurice back to the castle, and we can rescue his daughter."He said, turning to Maurice and put his hand on his shoulder."Don't worry, just show us the way, we'll protect you."He said, he was ready to go when they were, waiting for the old man to guide them.

 

Stratos quite admired the resolve that this Goofy fellow had when it came to protecting a king he had no idea who it was. Regardless, the gang continued to follow on with Goofy until they had finally been introduced to the grand castle of the Forest Suave, and what a suave place this looked to be. Apparently, the castle wasn't actually where Merlin lived, and to further his Merlin is just a crazy loon with clairvoyance theory, the man apparently just lived in a tower that looked ready to crumble. In addition to that, there was also snow. It was then that Ana mentioned just how cold it really was. Man, how had he not noticed that it was freezing temperatures up until now? Stratos was almost always wearing a hoodie, and so he was basically alright with the cold weather at most times. Regardless, he followed after everyone else, up the treacherous path to Merlin's tower.

 

D'daear followed the three towards the source of the monstrous roar that had startled everyone. He turned to Base as he ran, listening carefully to his words of advice. It hadn't occurred to him that there was indeed the possibility of him being separated from his team by the winds of fate. "Right!" he replied, nodding in understanding. He saw Steel agreeing with Base, further reinforcing the wisdom that had been passed on to him. Soon Steel surpassed them in speed, and caught up with Krowely. They all stopped a few meters away from what looked like to be some kind of bear. "Well there's the sou- WHOA!" he managed to utter. A massive creature that easily towered over them stood, wearing barely fitting navy blue trousers, and long violet cape. It's upper body seemed more built than his lower body, with horns protruding from his intimidating head. It turned to them, demanding them to leave his domain. When Krowely argued, and refusing to leave, the beast came charging at them. D'daear was afraid, but seeing everyone stand up to the beast somehow brought his morale up.

"Well...alright. If we're going to do this...then I got your backs!" he shouted, sucking up his fears in order to help out.

 

"So this is where Merlin is." Kel said, eying the castle as the group progressed towards the castle. As he walked, he was growing curious about Merlin and Arthur. Mainly what exactly did Merlin teach. For him to live all the way out here could be a hint, though he doubted that he taught how to make snow or anything like that. The only way he was going to know for sure was to see for himself.

 

Luna stopped right in her tracks as she saw the girl run toward the east wing. She saw the angry beast roar toward the girl. As she listened to Krowley and the Beast, she looked toward the east wing. Luna heard someone cast Blizzard. She looked toward the group. "I'm going after the girl!" With that, Luna ran off toward the crying girl leaving a trail of her blood.

 

Steel was quick to act; he instantly intercepted the Blizzard spell before it could reach the Beast. He took the full brunt of the magic but shrugged off the home-reminiscent chills. He turned to the beast but before he could say anything he saw Luna running off with a trail of blood behind her. He was appalled to say the least; his team had jumped straight into safety mode and now a member was running off leaving her life force behind. "She should have gotten that covered." He growled underneath his breath. He sensed the Beast approaching rapidly within those seconds, and sprang a safe distance backward. "Sir, I must implore you to calm yourself: We will leave as you say as soon as we are done, we have just cause to be here." He didn't know if his pleading would persuade the Beast, but he would rather attempt it then forcefully contain the man's strength.

 

There was a flash of light in the forest as an armored figure appeared through a portal on a glider. After a moment of settling, they jumped off their glider as the portal behind them disappeared. The glider vanished and the helmeted being looked around with observant eyes and a sigh was heard in the silence. Their hand quickly touched their wrist and the armor glowed and vanished.

When the armor was gone, it revealed a short, blonde haired female who looked around in annoyance as she murmured under her breath, "Corona. So far an annoying little place... Gotta find her. Gotta find her now..." the girl pulled a brown robe out of her bag and put it on, allowing herself to blend in more with the world as she whispered, "Don't meddle too much... don't meddle too much..."

She pulled up the hood and covered her head right as she heard a voice that made her jump. She looked around and started a slow jog in the direction of the noise until she made it to a clearing where a man, clearly a guard of some sort, was shouting out, "Maximus!" After a few minutes of just standing their the guard murmured under their breath, "That horse, he'll leave me behind to catch him if it is the last thing he does..."

The blonde waiting for the guard to walk away before she stepped forward into the light to see the horse trodden path. This horse, and this guard were after somebody who was causing trouble, and she figured if she followed the horse, she would find the source of the trouble. If there was any trouble in this world right now, it was going to end up affecting the princess, and she needed to get to her.

The girl took a step closer before she heard a voice shout, "Halt!"

The blonde immediately froze and turned to see the guard heading back towards her, she quickly clasped her hands together and spoke in a happy tone, although she was actually a bit annoyed, "Can I help you sir? I was just heading up the pathway here."

"I am sorry miss, but I feel that is too dangerous for someone of your age."

"Oh, I need to head up this way." She answered as she put down her hood, "Even if it is dangerous."

"Alright, I guess I cannot stop you, what is your name?"

The blonde stopped smiling to reply, "My name is Kaida."

"Nice to meet you miss. But I'm in pursuit of a wanted criminal, so if I were you, I'd get out of these parts as soon as you can. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go find a horse"

The guard ran off in the other direction and rolled her eyes at him and stuck her tongue out. She knew what he was doing, but that wasn't going to stop her. Kaida ran off in the direction of the path Maximus the horse had apparently taken.

 

Etrius sighed as he swung his Keyblade onto his shoulder, both of his arms dying of energy. He was relatively exhausted, but he breathed in and out. Suddenly. he let out a large shout. Not only he'd fought well, it also seemed that he might have a chance of wielding light, a power that was never gifted to a dark Keyblade Wielder. Rationally, Etrius had absolutely no idea on how to fight it. But for now he didn't care one bit. He turned back to Cat and Glen, and got serious. He willed his Keyblade to dissipate and finally asks, "So, let's go find Flynn?"

Eon smiled. "Don't worry, mister. Everything will be fine. I'm a lot tougher than my age shows." He gave a slight chuckle. Clearly the man loved his daughter if he was willing to go to such extreme measures to save her. Now all they needed to do was to follow him... after they get something warm... It was freezing. "Perhaps you have a few spare jackets or blankets, just so we don't freeze on the way there?" He questioned.

He looked back to Karina. He was worried about what had happened earlier between her and Ananta. He thought it best not to mention anything. She was clearly trying to avoid playing favorites with him while Kross was around. That was fine enough. He understood.

 

Ananta shook her head. She knew this would happen. Stupid Beuce and Stratos and Kel. She punched each of them in the arm. Beuce was hit the hardest and Stratos the lightest. Kel got a medium punch. "This is what happens when you don't follow my lead. I knew this would happen." she whispered loudly. Scratching her head, she looked at Merlin and spoke again. "I know you know what is going to happen, that must be tough, but we only want to help in any way we can if we cannot find what we want here. Is there some kind of task that you can give us?" she asked nicely. She didn't want to anger Merlin, he seemed very wise and kind. Nonetheless, she also didn't want to pander around here if that meant she was causing damage to the world.

 

Cat sighed as the battle concluded and looked towards Etrius, who let his Keyblade disappear before asking whether they should go after Flynn. "Of course." She looked toward Glen as a grin spread across her face. "Unless twinkle toes here is too tired." She chuckled softly, finally getting him back for all that unfair teasing, if only a bit, and walked across the bridge towards the forest. She could hear a guard -- presumably the one who'd gone after Flynn -- shout "Halt!" at someone. She ran behind a tree and peeked through, doing her best to breathe softly. Someone in a brown robe was there. Who could that be? They let the hood fall and... a girl? She seemed way too young to be the target of a guard -- then again, she, Glen and Etrius were still young and look where they were. They began to speak about how the road ahead was too dangerous for her and how she "needed" to travel it anyway. The guard turned to walk away and she stiffened, keeping herself out of sight. She could hear the girl run further into the thicket, so she waited until the guard was out of earshot and ran. She motioned for the other two to follow her but kept her eyes forward, hoping to catch up quickly. She may have been a real accomplice of Flynn's, and if that was the case then she could tell them where he'd gone off to. Either way, she felt... off: like she didn't quite belong here, and that in itself was worth investigating.

Kross shivered as a particularly cold gust swept over him. He wanted to get this over with, but he also didn't want to burden the man when he didn't need it. Maurice had already been through enough tonight and it was time to set things right here, a little one on one with Karina for a chance for redemption was out the window, but he'd focus on the objective and help the two when he needed to be. "Don't thank me sir."He said, shaking the man's hand with a smile."I just want to help."He said, letting him shake Karina's hand next and listened as Maurice voiced his doubts about Eon. With a wide smile, Kross intervened on the boy's behalf."Yeah, Eon's right, he may be young, but he's really tough! You have nothing to worry about, my friend."He assured Maurice."And Karina's just as strong, if not stronger. So don't worry."He said. He heard Eon suggest that Maurice get coats or blankets. Seeing that Karina had given Eon some extra clothing, he smiled, that was nice of her..of course Kross would probably catch cold, guess that's what he deserved. Seeing that Eon and Karina were covered for the trip, he turned to Maurice."You don't have to worry about the extra clothing, I'll power through this. Let's go."He said, letting Maurice lead. If he did, Kross would trail behind the group, his arms folded over his chest, rubbing his bare arms to keep warm.

 

"Don't get your panties in a knot Ananta." Kel said. His emotionless poker face remained unchanged as Merlin delivered his bad news and as she punched him. "Since your aware that we're from other worlds, then surely you know about the other people invading the worlds aside from us." Kel had little plans on beating around the bush with Merlin.

 

Base tried to be careful as the Beast came charging through. Base had grown stronger, but he was still comparably lithe, and this Beast could break him like a twig if given half the chance. He'd already used a Blizzard spell, but Luna was bleeding. "Bria!" Base cast a cure spell over Luna before realizing his motionlessness had caused the Beast to target him first. Monstrous paws came crashing down to swipe at his vulnerable stomach, but Base acted quickly enough to hop onto the Beast's hunched, wide back. It wasn't the sturdiest of safest of spots in the room, so Base used the momentum to launch himself off the surface. He made a 360, having grown accustomed to the flow of the battle field, and clipped the Beast in one of his comparably thin ankles. When the Beast responded by whirling around, albeit, with an unstable left leg, Base almost was caught again as the Beast tried to return with his claws. The fortunate thing was, the Beast had cumbersome arms; he moved fast enough, but the power trade didn't bode well for the arms.

Falling back over the stairs, Base almost wound up heading face first into the floor below the staircase, but caught a guard rail and ended up on his feet. He was still a level below the fight, however, and had left the passage between the Beast and the Beauty unguarded. Launching himself in front of the stairs, Base stood firm, with his Keyblade facing out front. "FRIA!" Base traced a line down from the Beast's feet to the base of the stairs. "Somebody mind giving the big guy a push?" He called to his comrades, hoping someone would take the next step in the trick he'd set up for using the Beast's weight against him. It would just take one push to send the bulky Beast down to the ground floor, and take him farther from the East Wing where Luna and the Beauty were headed.

It was a straight plane of ice, but it covered the steps well, turning a strip of steps into a veritably dangerous ramp. Base may have only gained a little weight since starting his journey, and he may have previously have been an inexperienced mage at the start, but now he was really getting a hold of his powers, and using his head to overcome his faced foes.
