    I don't think she was "bad", but she was definitely more brutal in the anime.

    STR was Yuu's otherself. Except Mato was actually friends with STR, because they had already switched places because Yuu didn't want STR to endure all the pain herself. Which is why Mato was confused when she heard Yuu was actually the otherself.
