I really hope it doesn't rain today. There's supposed to be a chance for thunderstorms, which I would love to have, but I've gotta work with kids, and we can't them outside in the rain (damn it too, because some of those kids need it), but it's horrible because we haven't taken them out much at all this week because the temperature was lower than 50 degrees, so we've had to stay inside, and being stuck with 40 kids that don't want to listen in a small room really gets annoying day after day.

I think being stuck inside with 40 kids is the opposite of a wimp.

when you're in a position to supervise kids you can take them out in the rain and then you can be the one responsible when they come in dirty and wet and ruin things, and you can also be the one to field complaints filed by ruthless parents who are upset because their kids are sick.

It's not like I'd be that bad. I'd make sure they take baths and whatnot to get cleaned up.

I thought you were talking about a babysitting position.

In that case, I'd just make sure they'd wipe their feet and stuff.

    I think I' d lose my freaking mind. ^^
A couple kids I can deal with. An army of them ? No way ...

My parents sent us to summer camp when we were kids, one of the guys in charge snapped at me once. I just wanted to ask him a question, but as soon as I opened my mouth he grabbed a sharp tool and screamed I SWEAR IF YOU DON' T LEAVE ME THE **** ALONE I' LL POKE YOUR EYES OUT !!!
I guess it' s a good thing I didn' t believe him, he could have traumatized me. xD
My dad isn' t exactly patient with kids either, I understood now just wasn' t the right time.

    Nonononononono. 40 isn't an army, it's a squadron. 90 kids with only 3 teachers....now that's an army

Better to be a wimp than to almost die from overtaking a semi in pouring rain.

From the moment you begin hydroplaning to the moment you stop, you are in a a constant state of almost dying.

Then I guess I almost died yesterday morning going to Winegar's for a hot chocolate because the roads were icy.

Did you ever lose control of the car?

No, and I also didn't lose control when I hydroplaned.

In that case, you need to explain to me what hydroplaning is because I've always thought that it meant losing control of a car due to extreme wetness forming a thin layer of water (a plane of it, if you will) between your tires and the road.

If you' re lucky and/or know what you' re doing you can get the car to grip the road again.

The driving school where I got my license had special tires they could use to simulate icy roads and teach you that stuff.
It wasn' t part of the standard license lessons though, you had to pay extras.

This, exactly! The same can be said for ice. Just because you slide does not mean you are losing control.

When I went to pick up my mom from work Friday evening, I had a bit of a hard time getting traction after backing out of our driveway and trying to go forward again. On Thursday morning, there was freezing rain and the roads were a bit slick. When I went to make a turn when taking my mom to work, I was going just a teeny weeny bit too fast and jerked forward a bit when I braked a bit to make the right turn.

In both of those cases, however, I was NOT out of control.
