Earth Hour

On March 29th from 8pm to 9pm, millions of people around the world are expected to flick off their lights for Earth Hour. Earth Hour was created to raise awareness of just how much electricity we actually use.

Turning on your lights takes more energy than using them for 3 hours (The non-incandescent ones anyway)

To reiterate on what I just said, once you turn the lights on again, the whole process will be wasted.

 

i personally dont think an hour will be enough... if we have been emmiting carbon gasses into the atmosphere for a long time, it wont be long enough...

 

I wouldnt waste my time doing that to be honest.

 

I agree that a hour is not enough, and the process of turning them on cancel's the effect. Though, I would still have done it, if it wasnt for the fact I usually never have my lights on anyways.

 

One hour isn't enough, and most people aren't going to do it anyway. Pointless indeed.

If the public truly wished to raise awareness, turn them off for 24 hours. :/

my friends and i did it, and when i turned the radio on this morning the hosts were getting people to call to talk about injuries they got during earth hour. some guy fell UP the stairs and a lady broke a bone [ouch] lmao

 

me and my sis sat in the dark and played a board game ;P
