I was supposed to visit a recording studio and have an opera lesson, but welp. Suppose that's cancelled now. FML.

I absolutely don't know wtf to do. I've gone to the doctor's, they were absolutely unhelpful. The pill is still there. The receipt reads that I have laryngitis? Which is totally bullshit imho, any inflammation can be attributed to the fact there's a goddamn tablet lodged in my throat. There's a bit of a language divide, and my grandmother was told merely that I have laryngitis; not that the pill is still there. She doesn't believe me, even though I had a wire shoved up my nose and down my throat and I saw it.

This happened four hours ago. It was a b-12 supplement.

Should I be concerned? Science side of kh-v, is b-12 harmful b/c I know some pills can corrode flesh if caught in the throat (and that's why you should always drink pills with water).

btw one of the ladies working at the hospital was wearing crocks which should have tipped me off right away as to the poor service of the place

update: I've also tried triggering my gag reflex and throwing up but that hasn't worked. can you throw something up when it's stuck in the vocal tract? how work?

Career-wise, if you've anything in mind. Just to see if we're on the same page.

It's rather funny in hindsight that I wanted to be a veterinarian a year ago. But I discarded the internship I'd secured at the local vet's. I like animals, but now. I've possibly made myself into runner-up for strangest mash-up of occupational aspirations: library science with a focus on archiving, plus a career as a side opera singer (if possible). I'd also like to study ancient texts somewhere down the line, but now perhaps that's getting a bit too ambitious. I've picked up opera lessons, and intend to practice my French through arias. Short-term goals will suffice for now.

It's always good to have back-up plans, a safety net to rely on. I think if I drop out of school and/or fail in any respect I might form a band with homeless peeps. I may form a band regardless, I'unno, these sorts of decisions depend on context and momentary leanings.

I have felt high and airy lately, and less focused on securing long-term stability for myself. I will study what interests me, and sing, and do things that please me. Is this a good change? Well, it's all contextual...

    Discuss your experiences here.

There are many roles which I would like to play but cannot, the primary reason being they are outside of my vocal range or capability to portray sufficiently in that they are men. What is beautiful, and liberating about the medium however is that it allows for a degree of autonomy or freedom on the part of the actors and actresses therein; character interpretations can vary widely depending on the production. The verity thereof is proved with the existence of cross-gender acting. Although still, whilst I could manage as the Artful Dodger in a production of Oliver! I probably could not play Javert. This disappoints me. The lack of identifiable, interesting, relatable female characters within theatre leads into another topic of discourse entirely, there are exceptions of course but at least in my case my interests lie in the male leads (which is unfortunate when you are restricted by your vocal range/physique).

    Last cosplay: Mary Marvel

I have no preference here, so I have decided to leave the decision up to the random (hopefully) gentlefolk in the audience. Kitty Pryde would be the easiest cosplay of the lot, Nova would be a fairly ambitious endeavor but I'd love to try (if anyone has experience crafting helmets/armour and would like to share their secrets that'd be appreciated).

Thread about collecting stuff. Do you collect anything? Post photographs! There was a thread centred on collector's items a while back, but I feel that by now the topic warrants a revival.

It's sort of ridiculous how many Italian fumetti I own which I've not even read yet. Italian publisher, Macedonian translations. All of these I've acquired within the past year, none of these I've actually uh... read. When you can claim to owning this amount of paraphernalia without utilizing it in any meaningful way besides allowing it to collect dust on the shelf, such is when you know you might be a collector.

Not depicted: my collection of American comic books and graphic novels. Three of the items in the first photograph are stacked with eight volumes per stack. 24 total + 13 other volumes = 37 volumes total.

I am especially eager to start reading Alan Ford. It's a satirical series from the '70s which parodies aspects of American society whilst simultaneously retaining a regional, distinctly Milanese vibe (it is written and drawn by Italians after all). Plenty of dark humor, plenty of puns, much wit.

Specifically, within the film franchise (although you can voice your opinion on comicverse as well). Do you think the X-Men universe would have run smoother without him, i.e. are his appearances oversaturated? Does he steal the limelight from other, more interesting characters?

    I tend to think so.

This poll has absolutely no merit whatsoever it's as simple as it looks.

For those unaware, IB stands for International Baccalaureate.

For those who have taken the program, is it worth it?

    The infamous IB Triangle.

According to Wikipedia, the UK holds some rather contradictory academic opinion concerning the International Baccalaureate:

Can any natives of the country and/or anyone else propose as to why this is? I don’t understand the logic therein. On the one hand, I want to take IB b/c it offers strong preparation toward college life, but on the other hand few universities seem to recognize IB credits & that along with the difficulty of the program has almost dissuaded me from pursuing it…

The Turkish have a saying, and it is as follows: "Coffee should be black as hell, strong as death, and as sweet as love."

I am partial toward strong, black Turkish coffee myself. With foam, preferably.

    Perfection itself.

Unfortunately, Turkish and Greek coffees contain coffee oils in high dosage due to the fact that it's completely unfiltered; the coffee grains remain at the bottom of the cup. Coffee oils contain cafestol, and consumption thereof raises low-density lipoprotein. In other words, it raises cholesterol levels and as such is pretty unhealthy for the long-run. But You Only Live Once, I suppose.

Come to think of it, I can't snap my fingers either. My inability to whistle bothers me more, however.
