BANGKOK (July 20) -- Millions of people across Asia will witness the longest total solar eclipse that will happen this century, as vast swaths of India and China, the entire city of Shanghai and southern Japanese islands are plunged into darkness Wednesday for about five minutes. Streams of amateur stargazers and scientists are traveling long distances to witness the once-in-a-lifetime event. "The corona has a temperature of 2 million degrees but we don't know why it is so hot," said Green of University College London. "What we are going to look for are waves in the corona. ... The waves might be producing the energy that heats the corona. That would mean we understand another piece of the science of the sun."Scientists are hoping data from the eclipse will help explain solar flares and other structures of the sun and why they erupt, said Alphonse C. Sterling, a NASA astrophysicist who will be following the eclipse in China. "We'll have to wait a few hundred years for another opportunity to observe a solar eclipse that lasts this long, so it's a very special opportunity," said Shao Zhenyi, an astronomer at the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory. Man has been recording solar eclipses for 4,000 years, and even today they inspire a combination of fear, fascination and wonder. One astrologer in Myanmar, also known as Burma, predicted in a magazine that the eclipse would trigger wars, instability and natural disasters for the next several months. Liang Wei is among more than 40 members of a Chinese solar eclipse fan club traveling to Shanghai to see the event. "Even though I'm not a scientist, it's an experience I've waited all my life for," said the 29-year-old Guangzhou native, who works at a lighting company and operates an online fan site for eclipse enthusiasts. In India, hundreds of scientists are gathering in the village of Taregna in Bihar state. One team, led by Dr R.K. Sinha of Patna University, will study bird behavior. "The researchers will observe whether they suddenly move back to their nests, sound differently and behave in an unusual manner due to sudden darkness," he said. A travel agency in India is running a charter flight to watch the eclipse by air. Some families have advised pregnant relatives to confine themselves to curtained rooms, following long-held fears that the invisible rays would harm the fetus and the baby born with disfigurations, birthmarks or a congenital defect. "I've been told to lie straight on the bed with my eyes open and to chant prayers and verses from the Hindu holy texts during the eclipse," said Sonya Chadha, a New Delhi accountant who is seven months pregnant and plans to take the day off. "If even a tiny sliver of light falls on me, it could harm my child." In Japan, where the last total eclipse happened in 1963, people are flocking to the small southern island of Yakushima, which is holding a a two-day festival with fireworks, dancing, grilled squid and cotton candy. SEOUL, South Korea – North Korea's communist regime has warned of a nuclear war on the Korean peninsula while vowing to step up its atomic bomb-making program in defiance of new U.N. sanctions. The North's defiance presents a growing diplomatic headache for President Barack Obama as he prepares for talks Tuesday with his South Korean counterpart on the North's missile and nuclear programs. South Korean President Lee Myung-bak told security-related ministers during an unscheduled meeting Sunday to "resolutely and squarely" cope with the North's latest threat, his office said. Lee is to leave for the U.S. on Monday morning. A commentary Sunday in the North's main state-run Rodong Sinmun newspaper, carried by the official Korean Central News Agency, claimed the U.S. has 1,000 nuclear weapons in South Korea. Another commentary published Saturday in the state-run Tongil Sinbo weekly claimed the U.S. has been deploying a vast amount of nuclear weapons in South Korea and Japan. North Korea, "is completely within the range of U.S. nuclear attack and the Korean peninsula is becoming an area where the chances of a nuclear war are the highest in the world," the Tongil Sinbo commentary said. Kim Yong-kyu, a spokesman at the U.S. military command in Seoul, called the latest accusation "baseless," saying Washington has no nuclear bombs in South Korea. U.S. tactical nuclear weapons were removed from South Korea in 1991 as part of arms reductions following the Cold War. South Korea's Unification Ministry issued a statement Sunday demanding the North stop stoking tension, abandon its nuclear weapons and return to dialogue with the South. On Saturday, North Korea's Foreign Ministry threatened war on any country that dared to stop its ships on the high seas under the new sanctions approved by the U.N. Security Council on Friday as punishment for the North's latest nuclear test. It is not clear if the statements are simply rhetorical. Still, they are a huge setback for international attempts to rein in North Korea's nuclear ambitions following its second nuclear test on May 25. It first tested a nuclear device in 2006. In Saturday's statement, North Korea said it has been enriching uranium to provide fuel for its light-water reactor. It was the first public acknowledgment the North is running a uranium enrichment program in addition to its known plutonium-based program. The two radioactive materials are key ingredients in making atomic bombs. On Sunday, Yonhap news agency reported South Korea and the U.S. have mobilized spy satellites, reconnaissance aircraft and human intelligence networks to obtain evidence that the North has been running a uranium enrichment program. South Korea's Defense Ministry said it could not confirm the report. The National Intelligence Service — South Korea's main spy agency — was not available for comment. North Korea said more than one-third of 8,000 spent fuel rods in its possession has been reprocessed and all the plutonium extracted would be used to make atomic bombs. The country could harvest 13-18 pounds (6-8 kilograms) of plutonium — enough to make at least one nuclear bomb — if all the rods are reprocessed. In addition, North Korea is believed to have enough plutonium for at least half a dozen atomic bombs. North Korea says its nuclear program is a deterrent against the U.S., which it routinely accuses of plotting to topple its regime. Washington, which has 28,500 troops in South Korea, has repeatedly said it has no such intention. The new U.N. sanctions are aimed at depriving the North of the financing used to build its rogue nuclear program. The resolution also authorized searches of North Korean ships suspected of transporting illicit ballistic missile and nuclear materials. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said the new U.N. penalties provide the necessary tools to help check North Korea's continued pursuit of nuclear weapons. The sanctions show that "North Korea's pursuit of nuclear weapons and the capacity to deliver those weapons through missiles is not going to be accepted by the neighbors as well as the greater international community," Clinton said Saturday at a news conference in Canada. About 2 days ago.My school had a threatening voice mail.A caller.It spead around the school from an announcement.And a letter notice sent home.Today.On Friday The 13th.Another threat was made.A bomb threat.I was going to school this morning.I was walking.And I saw ropes,blockades and all that ****.I saw a man out in front saying.School s closed.It's on lockdown.When I got back home after I told my mom why school was closed.We got a call from the school that goes otu to all parents.It said there was a bomb threat and that school was closed. I was like.What the hell?So later we get another call about being reloacted to another school.I chose not to go like some of my friends. So,what do you gusy think?

I now own Sonic And the B K.It came out earlier than expected.Last Tuesday I believe.I got it today on March 7th,or whatever day it is where you guys are,and I love it.The gameplay is very fast and easy to manuver.The voiceovers are pretty well done.Good job Jason Griffith(who plays Sonic just to let you know) Some of the other characters so far are. Blaze Shadow Knuckles Tails Amy We meet them very early in the game of course. And the character themes are some of the ones from Sonic Adventure 1-2.Like Shadow's theme.Or Tails' theme from SA1.You'll hear those.But they are remixes for a few. Now,gameplay again.Sonic moves slow at first.But gains speed over time.There are abilities that increase your acceleration so you can move quicker.But moving the Wii remote around to control the sword can get very tiring.Not like LOS Twilight Princess where it was simple to move Link's sword.I'ts like you move it to the side.More of a jiggle to be exact.It's very sensitive to it's not too bad. The game is 4 player,and it uses the Wii Remote and Nunchuk only. But...I found this interesting.You can change Sonic's name.Like your record name.I used Sonic to be simple.But you can use Sir Sonic from what I see in the manual. So far it gets an 8.5/10.It has it's flaws you know. But... OKay..the ending.Is awful. Sonic uses Excalibur(King Arthur's sword) And he gets this gold armor.He end up all gold..No he's not Super Sonic!!!He is just all gold.More between gold and bronze. In the end.Blaze,Knuckles,and Shadow bow to Sonic.Caliburn(Sonic's normal sword chooses him as king) OMFG!!! Sonic..is the real King Arthur!!!!!!!! And he doesn't even go home.It just ends with Caliburn naming Sonic as king. He does not get sent back to his home at all. WTF!! Post questions if you wanna know more.
