    The Introduction

The fires of the city flare up as night descends. Novigrad has stood for hundreds of years, and there is no doubt it will continue to stand long after its citizens degrade into bones and dust. Soldiers patrol the walls and streets, instilling a forced calm, under which belies the tension of a population on edge. Winter has come early this year, causing large losses for farmers and merchants alike. The frozen temperatures are believed to have created higher casualties then the previous skirmishes for territory between the Skellige pirates and the denizens of Novigrad. There is a significant lack of food, causing a rations system to be instilled. This has only added to the turmoil of the townspeople, who find themselves unable to leave for fear of the winter storms that can commence at a moment’s notice, or the bandits who roam the roads in large numbers, facing the same struggle.

Without the Redanian king to send supplies, with Skellige effectively blockading the port, and no end in sight, it is on this night that adventurers stumble into town ahead of yet another blizzard, seeking shelter and warmth. Why they are here, who they are and where they came from doesn’t matter. It is the unifying reason of home that brought them here, and the reward. The nobles of Novigrad are offering a substantial reward for any who can force the Skellige pirates to leave and open the city’s ports once more in hopes of enticing traders to bring much needed supplies to the starving town.

It is here where you start, where your choices can dictate life and death, and there is no wrong decision. Welcome to Monsters and Men.

    Rules

    1. No Godmodding will be tolerated on any level. You will be warned if this occurs.

    2. Related to this rule, do not kill or harm or move someone’s character without permission. When doing so, post in the OOC of your post that you do indeed have permission.

    3. There is a warning system. Three strikes and you’re out for good. Breaking any of the rules will cause you to get a warning.

    4. I am expecting posts to be around 200 words, give or take. Just try not to post single sentences.

    5. You will be expected to post once a week as each character. I understand life gets in the way, but if you have to be gone for long periods let me know. On the flip side, if you have been waiting a long time, message me and we’ll find a solution.

    6. Related to this rule, if you don't post for two weeks as any character and I don't hear from you, I will remove one of your characters from the roleplay until there is more consistency in posting. If it has been a month and there is no response, all characters will be removed until further notice.

    7. You can have two characters at the start. After a month, if you have been consistently posting, you will be allowed to add more based on my judgement.

    8. Keep everything by the ToS. No sex scenes, keep the swearing moderated, and gore descriptions need to have a warning and/or be spoilered. That being said, this is a mature roleplay. Do not join if you are easily triggered by any of the situations listed above.

    9. Keep the drama to the roleplay. If you have issues with another player, bring them up to me, or simply don’t interact with each other. Arguments outside of the roleplay will not be tolerated and anyone involved will receive a warning.

    10. Most importantly of all, this roleplay is meant to be realistic. If you engage in a sword fight, expect to be injured. If you try to assassinate a king, expect to die as a result. Your characters will not heal in one time skip, and you will not be able to magically fix all wounds.

    11. In regards to teleporting, your character needs to spend one post meditating in order to set up the portal. After a few days (in real time), you can post that you traveled into the portal.

    The Races
    Mages
Sorcerers or Sorceresses that have been trained to control the four elements. They age slower than normal humans and can transport themselves long distances in the blink of an eye. They are also infertile. Druids are mages that live with nature. You can choose to be proficient in one element.

    Witcher
Humans that have been taken and extensively trained, physically and mentally conditioned to become monster slayers. They are able to use a special brand of magic, concoct potions that are poisonous to anyone else, and have increased physical speed, strength, reflexes and endurance.

Witchers have amber eyes with cat pupils that allow them to see in the dark, increased resistance to all disease and poisons, increased life spans, and they are infertile.

They carry two swords, a steel for men and beasts, and a silver for monsters.

    Witcher and Human magic:

    Aard- telekinetic burst of energy

Axxi-momentary mind control, causing the enemy to become dazed

Igni-a burst of fire erupts from your palm.

Quen- a magical shield that protects the caster for a few minutes

Yrden-creates a magical, stationary circle that slows down enemies that enter

    Humans
The main inhabitants of this RP. Humans are able to take care of monsters on their own, but only with the appropriate tools. They are unable to use magic except for the six signs, but can brew potions and hold various occupations.

    Werewolves
A typed of Cursed being, werewolves were humans that have been infected with lupus lycanthropus. They can transform at will, but anything clothing worn during this process will be unusable afterwards, and the victim will be naked when returned to human form. During the werewolf stage, the victim is unable to recall personal memories or thoughts and becomes an animal, mentally. They are extremely aggressive to any who don’t carry the curse, and when they wake from their time as a wolf, they don’t recall much of their experience. Those infected with lupus lycanthropus tend to either remove themselves from society, or remain in a pack among like-minded individuals. They are weak to silver and are unable to swim in deep water. With super strength and speed, werewolves are a force to be feared.

    Vampires
A type of Cursed being, vampires were once humans that have been transformed into immortal creatures by a sire. They congregate in family groups, usually centered around a head vampire that leads the community. They are weaker in sunlight, and as a result often remain out of sight until the sun sets. They are also weak to fire, and instead rely on their enhanced sight to see in the dark. Their form of food solely consists of the blood of a living creature, which helps them retain their human form. However, when faced with battle, vampires turn into their true form, a giant bat with sharp claws and super strength/speed. They can speak in this form, but doing so fluently is hard for the vampire. Being bitten by a vampire doesn’t mean the disease is automatically transmitted, there is a subsequent ritual to be performed in order to create the fledgling vampire.

If you would like to create a character that is not of the races listed above, shoot me a message before creating a profile. I rarely say no to creativity.

    New York City, New York.
    9:00 pm.

There is a calm over the city, an unnatural stillness. The humans move about their business without a care, without a worry. But there are those who cling to the shadows, who watch without being seen, or speak without being heard. There are those that hunt, and those that are hunted. Tonight is the night of the new moon, the black sky, and the starless horizon. Tonight is where it begins.

Brianne looked up at the glowing sign of Pandemonium. The one safe haven for all races in New York. She had come here many times over the years, each time for a different reason, a different purpose. Tonight was no different then any other night.

The runes on her skin glowed; a Mark for speed on her thigh, revealed by the shorts she was wearing. A second Mark on her neck, to despell any glamours, and a third on her wrist, for strength. The fourth, she left unmarked, just in case she needed to cure a poisonous cut or heal a wound. Better safe then sorry.

She took a deep breath, trying to stretch out the tight shirt as much as possible before heading inside. The music pulsed in her ears, and the flashing lights nearly blinded her until she adjusted. She looked through the general crowd; not seeing her quarry in the immediate vicinity, she strode towards a private sitting area.

Ash, a warlock with whom she carried a somewhat tenuous relationship, was there. She parted the red curtain, wrinkling her nose at the excessive drama, before stepping inside. "Ash. I figured you'd be here." She sighed, resting her hands on her hips. Her stele clinked at her side. "I'm looking for one of your kind. A warlock. Goes by the name of Masque. He's here. Give him to me, and I'll put in a good word for you with the Council."

She named the ruling order of Nephilim in good faith, knowing that she had enough sway to give her...friend, some very nice benefits.

Morrigan let her fingers drift along the side of the pool. Central Park was lovely after the sun went down. Well, besides the beggars and murderers that stalked the street. She wasn't afraid of them, for the simple reason that they didn't see her. It was for the best really, what with her blue grey skin and somewhat ethereal beauty.

The water rippled underneath her skin, moving away from her touch. A water bug fled the carnage of its watery world, skimming towards the middle of the lake. Morrigan sighed, and got to her feet, brushing off her feathery dress before strolling towards the forest. She had work to do, and it wasn't going to get done by scrying into the water.

A shiver rolled down her spine as the dead leaves and branches crunched underneath her feet. Normally the moon would be shining down on her skin, her hair, and everything else, making it glow with the silvery light she so adored. Instead, it was dark, and dead. A new moon was out tonight, but it didn't feel new. It felt frightening.

She shuddered once more, and carried on her path.

    The Story
San Francisco. Hong Kong. Nepal. London. No matter where you go, you won’t see them; not unless you already know. Oh, you don’t? Well let me explain.

Humans have been protected for years by the Nephilim, angels that descended from heaven. And no, they don’t have wings. They’ve been half human for centuries. The Nephilim, or Shadow Hunters, as they came to be called, stalk the streets at night, looking for those that prey upon the humans. And when they find them, it isn’t pretty.

But there aren’t just fallen angels that walk the streets, looking out for you. Oh no, everything you could think of, from warlocks to witches to werewolves walks this earth, and while most ignore or even cater to the humans, some look for a little excitement, for a hunt.

Downworlders, as they’re called, don’t have it easy. They have to follow the rules the Shadow Hunters have set, avoid the Nephilim’s attention, and pray for mercy if they fail. They don’t have the privileged life of the Shadow Hunters, and some like that just fine. Others don’t.

Right now, it’s been pretty good. Peaceful, even. But that’s all about to change. Because someone just took one of the Mortal Instruments. The only thing helping us keep the balance. Now everyone is looking for it, trying to find it. Because whoever holds the Mortal Cup, holds the power to change the balance of power in the world.

So, are you going to help us find it? Restore things to what they once were? Or will you look for it to keep for yourself, and hold power over men and angels? Or perhaps, you just don’t care. Perhaps you’ll sit by, and watch to see who wins. What will you do?

    Races

Nephilim, also known as the Shadow Hunters. Half human, half angel. They are the only ones able to put runes on their skin, and carrythem without dying. The Nephilim have watched the mortal realm for centuries, appointed by the angel Raziel to control and preside over the demons and Downworlders. They can’t perform any magic besides the runes, and look relatively human. They have faster speed, more resilient bodies, and the skill to sense demons, in whatever form they come. Despite their enhanced abilities, they are still mortal, and susceptible to anything a human would be.

Warlocks are also called Lilith’s children, warlocks are the offspring of a demon and a human. This isn’t usually a pleasant occurrence for the humans. Each warlock has a trait that marks them as inhuman. This could be bat wings, cat eyes, a lizard tail, furry skin, anything you can imagine. They are also sterile. Most warlocks are born with the inherent skill to use magic. Those that are not, are ifrits, and have no magical powers. Warlocks are immune to most known diseases, and are immortal. They are weak to holy water (which has to have been blessed in a church), and rowan wood.

    Vampires are a
lso called Children of the Night, vampires were once human, and have been infected with a demon disease. They are immortal, appear pale, and cry blood instead of tears. In order to become a vampire, you would be bitten by another, who would become your sire. When the sire is killed or dies, all vampires created by that one can feel pain. Vampires are also sterile, and cannot be tracked by any magic. They have heightened speed, strength, and accelerated healing abilities. As they grow older, they become stronger. They are weak to sunlight, fire, and holy water. They can use encanto, an ability that can mesmerize humans and Nephilim in order to compel them.

Werewolves are Children of the Moon, werewolves are humans infected with a demon disease that allows them to Change. Under the light of the full moon, the Change is forced, but as they grow into their powers, they learn to Change at will. Werewolves possess enhanced speed and senses, especially when they’re Changed. Their wolf jaws are powerful enough to bite through a chain link fence, but they keep their human eye color during their time as a wolf. Werewolves are mortal, and weak to silver. New werewolves are created by a wolf biting a human. The wolf is responsible for their newly created child.

Fairies, or the Fair Folk, are suspected to be the offspring of both demons and angels, carrying the maliciousness of the former and the ethereal beauty of the later. They possess human souls, but are immortal and have few physical weaknesses. They are unable to lie, but find many ways to manipulate this and use it to trick Downworlder and Nephilim alike. They enjoy making bargains, with offerings that come at a terrible, unsaid price, and are weak to iron and salt. They have a true name that they guard very closely, the knowledge of which gives great power over the one who uses it.

Demons are malevolent beings that can travel between worlds and destroy everything they touch. When they are killed, they return to the Void, waiting for their turn to be let out again. Demons are weak to any physical damage, but also to the runes placed upon the Nephilim’s blades. There are too many species to keep count, so if you desire to be a demon, it is up to you to choose the type.

    The Socierty

There are four Kings and Queens of the Shadow Society. Should one fall, and none appropriate take the highest place of society, the most appropriate sovereign of a different race will intercede as substitute for the time being. Each new King or Queen, however they are elected by their people, must also be accepted by the other three.

Titania is the Seelie Queen, and wields power over every fey creature, from mermaids to imps satyrs. She did not come to her throne in the traditional sense, and is as feared as she is respected. Her rule has been in place for over a thousand years.

Yuri Sckolov is the Vampire King, and thus rules every creature that falls into the blood-drinking, undead variety. There are rumors this at one time included zombies, but if it's true, the vampires aren't telling. Yuri took power from the previous Queen by murdering her, as is appropriate by vampire standards. He is just, but quick to render punishment, and he's not afraid to dirty his hands to keep his people safe. Yuri has been sovereign for eight hundred years.

Hestia Sunspoke is the High Warlock, holding court over all the warlocks and ifrit alive. She was voted into her position of power after the previous ruler decided to retire. She is kind and patient, and is the most willing of the Ruling Four to do other species favors; though they do have a price, seen or not. Though she is much older, Hestia has only ruled for the last one hundred years.

    The Alpha of New York is currently contested by three individuals;

    1. Grayson Keller - A vicious born werewolf who leads through cruelty and fear. He is the killer of the Alpha, and under his brief tenure the Pack became monsters that would hunt anything.
    2. Rhett Alban - One of the turned werewolves, Rhett has long served the warlock Ash as repayment for certain deeds. It is only recently he took interest in uniting the wolves of New York to save them from slow annihilation.
    3. Felicia Blackwolf - A turned werewolf who was kept from society for most of her life. Only after she killed her master was she allowed freedom, and the chance to seek more power. Her future ambitions include changing the laws of the Pack.
If no decision is come to, the Three Rulers will decide upon the victor, or methods that can be used to achieve victory.

    The Accords

The Accords are rules for the Shadow world that have been in place for the last three hundred years. Negotiated between the Nephilim and the Downworlders, the Accords will be simplified below. The full link is here .

    1. Downworlders are beings with souls, and have the right to a fair trial, protections as human beings, and are able to adopt human children.
    2. The Nephilim will serve as the governing force of the Shadow World, though Downworlders are required to govern their own kind, unless the problem warrants Nephilim intervention.
    3. Warlocks are allowed to perform demon magic, especially when helping a Nephilim.
    4. Both Downworlders and Nephilim are forbidden from revealing the nature of the Shadow World to mundanes, unless in the direst and most absolute of circumstances.
    5. (Redundant of #2), Downworlders have the right to govern their own affairs internally, without the interference or oversight of other races. (The vampire/werewolf feud stays between them, etc.
    6. Any Downworlder or Nephilim who breaks the Accords without just cause and reasoning is considered rogue, and thus void of any of the protections.

    Runes
Because there are too many runes to name, they will only be called by the abilities they give. Each rune can only bestow one ability; Agility, Healing, Binding, etc. Only Nephilim can bestow runes upon themselves, and only four at a time. Runes will last for twelve hours at a time before they must be remarked. There will be exceptions to these rules as permitted by me.
    Current Weather
Dawn Morning Noon Afternoon Dusk Twilight Midnight
January February March April May June July August September October November December
Hot Warm Mild Chilly Cold Sunny Cloudy Overcast
Breezy Windy Thunderstorm Lightning-storm Snowstorm Drizzle Rain Downpour Light Snow Heavy Snow

    Rules for the Mundanes
    (Finally, I know)

    1. You can have as many characters as you can keep up with.
    2. At the moment, this will be story driven. I’m working on a way to add missions. You don’t need to complete the story to be involved.
    3. If you’re going to do something that could dramatically alter anything, please run it by me first.
    4. This is combined with rule #11. There will be certain situations, approved/created by me as the RP owner, that involve inevitable death. When this is not the case, please have the owner's permission to maim and otherwise murder their characters.
    5. No godmodding. Please and thank you.
    6. If you can't keep up with the RP, please notify me and don't leave other participants waiting for a reply for weeks.
    7. Keep it appropriate by KHV rules.
    8. I am going to ask a commitment of posting twice a week for each character. If you are involved in the story and will be gone, please let me know in whatever way you can.
    9. In order to keep the RP somewhat in tandem with the original story, it is forbidden for any of the races to kill each other, unless sanctioned by the Clave. This doesn't mean you can't, it just means if you choose to do so, there are dire consequences. Like being burned alive.
    10. No human characters. I may change my mind on this one with just cause. You can create temporary NPCs for your post, but if you kill any humans you will become a target for your own race and the Nephilim.
    11. Besides the use of magic and magical creatures, this RP is to be as realistic as possible. That means no bullsh*t escapes from bad situations, no deus ex machina unless approved by me. Expect consequences for your actions. This is combined with rule #4. Any such inevitable death situations will be run by me first.

Rules are subject to change, and RPers will be notified.

    [DOUBLEPOST=1453305081][/DOUBLEPOST]Character Name: Morrigan Moonsong
    Age: 357 (human years).
    Gender: Female
    Race: Fairy
    Appearance: ~
Backstory: Morrigan has served as an informant for the Seelie Court for centuries with her parents and brother. She used to find human, and Downworlder life quite fascinating, but the years have not been kind to her curiosity, and as a result, Morrigan has slowly become more cynical. Her family has survived countless centuries of persecution, discovery, and loss. As one of the remaining old bloodlines, she has special status in the Seelie Court, and is given leave to do nearly as she pleases, without breaking the Accords of Peace with the Nephilim. She has a long standing betrothal to one of the knights at court, longstanding meaning the last one hundred years.
Weapons: She carries a thin sword.
    Magic:

[*]Beastspeak ~ Morrigan can talk to animals that are calm and accepting of her presence.
[*]Growth ~ Morrigan can, to a certain degree, control the plant life within five feet of her physical body.

[*]Moondreams ~ Morrigan uses the light of the moon to enhance her power. Only works on the full moon, and after the night is over Morrigan is drained and tired.
[*]Nightlight ~ Morrigan can set her sword alight with the light of the moon, doing enhanced damage to her enemies. Only lasts for one attack.

    Character Name: Brianne Lightwood
    Age: 24
    Gender: Female
    Race: Nephilim/Werewolf
    Appearance: Bloop
Backstory: Brianne was the second child, and only daughter, of the prestigious Lightwood family. She spent most of her early childhood in Alicante, the capital of the Nephilim, learning to fight demons and studying runes. In her teen years, she was sent to the Institute in New York in order to be taught how to put her skills into real scenarios.

Before she was an adult, she was taken on missions into the city, and quickly rose to become one of the new stars of her generation. While the rest of her family urged her to return to Alicante and become involved in politics in order to help the family fortune, Brianne stayed where she was needed, protecting the human race from demons. Luck helped her receive the Headmaster position at the New York Institute, where she hands out missions and watches over the Nephilim and Downworlders.

She still ventures out, but most her days in her young adult years have been spent behind a desk, or in front of a computer monitor. Brianne hopes to change that.

Weapons: Primary will be a stele.

    Magic: N/A.

Other: In New York, Brianne has absolute authority, but also absolute responsibility. Let's make her life difficult.

    Character Name: Clarity
    Age: 122
    Gender: Female
    Race: Ifrit
    Appearance: Bleep

Backstory: Clarity was born with the curse of a warlock's appearance, but none of the magical abilities. She was fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately, in her case, able to understand her predicament from a young age, and seek out help from a warlock, who cast glamours over her in return for services. Clarity was trained by the best to hunt and find her prey, in addition to reading and writing skills that are somewhat rudimentary. In her nineteenth year of life, her mother passed away, allowing Clarity to use the woman's body to find the identity of her father.

Clarity began to hunt for the demon who had sired her, having only a face and a name, leaving it to become her sole purpose in life. She's nearly reached her target, only to have him slip away. With each passing year, Clarity grows more desperate to attain her goal, for no one can assure her how long an ifrit has to live. This desperation has caused her to form alliances and friendships with various people. Clarity can be persuaded to do nearly anything, for the right price. And where her father is concerned, there is no action that cannot be done.

Weapons: A single katana, along with some throwing knives hidden in various places on her body.

    Magic: N/A

Other: Clarity has blue skin, because of which she moves around only at night, or with the help of glamours purchased from warlocks.

    Character Name: Luce Hemmingway
    Age: 28
    Gender: Female
    Race: Nephilim...
    Appearance: ~

Backstory: Luce grew up in Alicante, the Lightwood twins among her peers. She excelled in her studies as a Shadowhunter, but instead of taking a position in the outside world, elected to remain behind and serve the Clave. Having no memorable family name, Luce worked hard on her skills to mark herself in the annals of history. She has served Yorick faithfully until this point, and considers Corvo her main competition for his affection.

Weapons: Luce uses her seraphim blade, and a sniper rifle for distance shots. She inscribes each bullet herself.

    Magic: N/A

    Other: B)

The girl sat. She was alone in her room, just like every other day. Outside she could hear the sounds of her sister skipping through the halls, singing some nursery ryhme. Her parents had walked to and fro in those halls, before their ship had been lost at sea. The bodies were never recovered, and the girl often wondered if they had actually died. Perhaps they were out there still, trying to find a way back home.

It was a comforting thought, but one that didn't hold much basis in reality. They had hated her, always hated her. She hated them too, because despite the lack of their presence, she couldn't bring herself to leave this room. Day after day was spent in isolation. She would read through books in a week, and have to send for new ones to be brought. She tried her hand at painting, but it wasn't in her regime of talents, it seemed. One day, she would run out of books.

Her sister passed by now. The footsteps fell silent as they neared the girl's door, and she held her breath. Perhaps today would be the day her sister was brave enough to enter. But no, just like every other day, the footsteps began to pass, the song resuming as it echoed through the halls. The girl slumped in her chair, the customary disappointment filling her heart as she looked down at her hands. They are bare now, the gloves discarded on the floor. She hated them too. Hated the color, hated the feel, hated everything about them. They were a restriction, a reminder that she wasn't anything like anyone else. That she was a monster.

She glanced back out the single window that lit up her solitary prison, staring down at the townspeople. They would want her to rule them one day. Those poor people. They had no idea she still existed as a shadow amongst the portraits and paintings and silk. She pitied them for their ignorance.

One more year. One more year and she could free herself from this palace. A smile curved her lips at the thought, and ice began to trickle through the air, spidering from her fingers up towards the ceiling. She let it go, watching the crystals of frozen water dance as they lifted higher and higher. One more year. Then she could make her parents pay. The innocents would suffer, yes. Her sister would suffer, oh yes. But for the satisfying prize of revenge? She would pay any price.

She smiled wider now, humming gently to herself as she looked back out the window, ice crackling as it began to cover the fragile glass, and the room grew cold. "Do you want to build a snowman?" She asked softly, before twisting her hand in a sharp gesture. The glass cracked, and shattered.

    Why wait a year?

The land is torn apart by rebellion. Monsters scour the earth in search of victims. The king is too weak to be able to effectively rule, and in his stead armies tear apart the countryside, burning villages and ruining lives. In the wake of all this conflict, two sides have risen up against each other. The dopplers, misunderstood and downtrodden, using the conflict to their advantage to try and elevate their status in the world, and the witchers, oppressors of monsters and saviors of mankind, trying to stop them.

Which side will you take? Whose fight will you support? In this world of monsters and men, there are no right or wrong choices. Welcome to the Witcher.

Veera knelt in the dirt, reaching down to take a small amount of earth from the tracks. She had been on the trail for the last two weeks, hunting her prey with the tenacity of a bloodhound. The signs here led her to believe she was less then a day behind, and as she stood, her yellow eyes scanning the trees, they narrowed. She didn't trust the peacefulness of the woods for a moment. True to her instincts, a pack of rabid dogs emerged from the trees, snarling and growling as they surrounded her. She shut her eyes as she reached for the steel sword that hung from her back, her black hair obscuring her face for a moment before she launched into her attack, catching the first attacker in the throat. Hot blood spattered across her face, but her expression didn't change.
Minutes later, she wiped her blade clean on the grass before kneeling next to the first body. Cutting open the dog's stomach, she discovered a human hand, and several still intact fingers. Shit. She might already be too late.
She cut what she could from the dog's body, storing the meat in her pack before searching the other bodies. After concluding that besides a few more cuts of stringy meat there was no loot, she set off into the forest, her pace a quick jog.

Zack examined his face in the cracked mirror, brushing his hair to one side before exiting the small house. He stood on the doorstep for a moment before descending the steps and meshing with the marketplace crowd. He kept his head down and his hands shoved in his pockets as he quickly made his way to the usual stall. The merchant there, a friend, quickly looked around before shoving something into Zack's hands and turning away. Zack moved on, stowing the item in his pocket. It was only when he was safe in an abandoned alleyway, his only company a drunkard who was sleeping in his own piss.
He had been waiting on this item for a month. The silver dagger wasn't actually made of silver, but of tin. He carefully fastened it to his belt, a tiny bit of relief soothing the constant sea of anxiety in his stomach. It might not make a huge difference, and a witcher certainly would know real silver, but none of the common people, the ones he was around every day, would claim he was a doppler, or worst yet, turn him into the witchers. He might yet live another day, in the town of Oxenfurt.

Teriana knelt in the grass, gently pulling the white flower's stem from the ground. She needed to find one patch, and then she would have enough for the potions she desired to make. As she rose, gently pressing a hand to her aching back, no one from a distance would have mistaken her for anything but a young farmer's wife. However, her simple clothing was nothing but a disguise, and her hair, while tangled, hid a solemn face with fiery, tenacious eyes. She made sure to place the handful of flowers gently in the basket on her arm before descending into the nearby cave. She needed mushrooms as well, and while she feared no monster the caves could breed, she knew that it would be far better to enter the darkness with the light of day behind her, then to try and find her way in the darkness.

    Monsters
I realize this is only a fraction of the monsters in the Witcher universe. If you wish to fight a certain creature but do not see it here, send me a message and I’ll link and tier it. Monsters are listed from weakest to strongest. You can easily take on a drowner or noonwraith alone, but a vampire or leshen will require preparation and/or teamwork.

In order to prepare for your monster fighting, you can use magic, brew healing potions, and concoct oils to put on your weapons. Because this is a simplified version, the only oils used will be beast, necromorph, cursed, and relic. There is a category by each monster’s species that will tell you which oil to use.

    -Beast-

    -Necromorph-
    -Cursed-
    • Noonwraiths
    • Nightwraith
    • Berserkers (For the purposes of this RP they will only be able to change into large bears.)
    • Werewolves (For the purposes of this RP, if you fight a werewolf at the full moon, you will either need a large group of people, or you will need an adult very very badly. (In other words there will be lots of damage.))
    • Sirens
    • Vampires
    -Relic-

    Races

Mages: Sorcerers or Sorceresses that have been trained to control the four elements. They age slower than normal humans and can transport themselves long distances in the blink of an eye. They are also infertile. Druids are mages that live with nature. You can choose to be proficient in one or all four of the elements, but the more you choose, the weaker you will be in each area. Focusing in one will make you stronger as a mage. All adult mages that have been trained are able to teleport themselves using a portal.

All mages are weakened by dimeritium bombs. The metal can be melded into chains to keep the mage from escaping.

Dopplers: shapshifters that can take the form of any human being they see. When not changed in the form of a human have a troll like appearance. They can copy the voice and mannerisms of their intended target, as well as birth and scar marks. They cannot collect memories, and cannot copy the clothing or tools.

Dopplers are vulnerable to silver in any form.

Witcher: Humans that have been taken and extensively trained, physically and mentally conditioned to become monster slayers.

They are proficient in the Five Signs, but normally pick two to specialize in.

They carry two swords, a steel for men and beasts, and a silver for monsters. They also wear a medallion given only to their kind that vibrates when in the presence of monsters. This includes dopplers.

Witchers can use their medallions to communicate long distances, but only the oldest of the witchers can try to specifically reach another. And just because you call, doesn't always mean there will be an answer, or the message will be understood. Please do not abuse this system, or I will add a regulator to it as well.

    Witcher and Human magic
    • Aard - telekinetic burst of energy
    • Axii -momentary mind control, causing the enemy to become dazed
    • Igni -a burst of fire erupts from your palm.
    • Quen - a magical shield that protects the caster for a few minutes
    • Yrden -creates a magical, stationary circle that slows down enemies that enter
Humans: The main inhabitants of this RP. Humans are able to take care of monsters on their own, but only with the appropriate tools. They are unable to use magic except for the five signs, but can brew potions and hold various occupations. Humans can only use any two of the Five Signs.

    Rules

    1. You can have both a mage and a witcher, but you must then create a third character, either human or doppler. Plz.

    2. There is an ongoing story, but no one will be forced to participate. If you do take a pivotal role, you will be required to keep up with it as necessary. Deviations are allowed, but must be run by me first.

    3. If you’re going to do something that could dramatically alter anything, please run it by me first.

    4. This rule combines with #12. There will be some situations, approved by me as the RP creator, where death is inevitable. When this is not the case, please have the character owner's permission to maim or murder their creation. In such cases that it is inevitable, you will be given at least two chances to escape said situation.

    5. No godmodding. Please and thank you.

    6. No character limit, but please keep up with the ones you have.

    7. Keep it appropriate by KHV rules.

    8. Minimum post length is three sentences. Please.

    9. Please at least commit to posting once a week. I understand we all have outside lives, but be considerate.

    10. I realize that with the application of magic there is a high potential to be overpowered. Play nicely and fairly. No, your mage can't create an earthquake that rocks the entire hemisphere.

    11. (Pertains to mages only) For any and all portals, unless I state otherwise, there will need to be a location roll. This is to keep the system from being abused. Please contact me by skype or PM for this.

    12. Besides the use of magic and magical creatures, this RP is to be as realistic as possible. That means no bullsh*t escapes from bad situations, no deus ex machina unless approved by me. Expect consequences for your actions. This rule combines with #4, and all such inevitable death situations are run by me first.

    Character Application

    Username:
    Character Name:
    Age:
    Gender:
    Race:
    Appearance:
    Bio:
    Occupation:
Weapons (Note: for Witchers you will only be able to use a silver and steel sword. The type of sword can vary):
Secondary Weapon (Long bow, short bow, or crossbow. Can also be left as N/A):
    Powers (For Mages Only):
    Other:

    Notes
I will consider letting people enter as werewolves, vampires, and beserkers, but please get the okay from me first, and when you ask, have a good idea of why you want to have a character like that. No "because I want to." There needs to be good story and future plots for said character.

For now, only Velen, Novigrad, Oxenfurt, Kaer Moren and Vizima have been included. If enough players want to have Skellige added, I will consider it. For the sake of travel times, any areas outside of those places listed above have been removed.

Red indicates Archon's borders, Yellow for the Witchers, Orange for Small Rebellions, and Black for Nilfgard.

This is just to see if anyone would be interested in joining an RP based loosely on the Witcher. By loosely I mean that there would be the Witchers, magic, and the species of monsters, but it'll be a different world. You won't need to know any of the history of the Witcher series, and the characters will be completely knew. The aim will be to give both people unfamiliar with the series and those that love it a place to role play.

    So....yeah. Anyone interested?

    If you're allergic to something?

Because according to Google it's when your nails fall off, your face swells to something quite similar to a balloon and your lungs decide to stop working.

Somehow I think you should grab an adult or the nearest epinephrine pen instead of reading Google MD at that point.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/zimbabwe/11767119/Cecil-the-lions-killer-revealed-as-American-dentist.html

As much as I would like to bait the dentist with an expensive prostitute, lure him out of the safety of his home and shoot him with a crossbow, I can't afford a plane ticket.

I can't even condone lion hunting because of how ridiculously expensive it is and the methods used, but baiting a specific animal to leave the sanctuary of its refuge in order to kill it is a new level of sick.
(I'm pretty sure it was specific; how many lions have black manes?).

Not to mention the local tribes revered this lion. Clearly this man doesn't have an idea of what respect for other cultures is.

For most fans, fanfiction is a way to escape the reality of their favorite franchise turning into a steaming pile of horsesh*t (I'm looking at you Naruto). But few fail to realize that a more heartbreaking failure lies in the path.

You find the perfect fanfiction. Good length, well written, characters are flawlessly recreated, grammatical errors are few and far between. But then, you realize as you get closer to the end, that it is not the end. The author has merely given up and left its readers to die without closure.

And this is why people go crazy and behead other people on public transportation. Please people, for the sanity of us all, finish your godd*mn fanfiction.
