    Story

Long ago, there was a great war between the three most powerful nations: Potestas, Sapientia, and Animus. They fought for control over the heart of the continent, Deus. Deus was an ancient kingdom founded upon by Lost Technology that perfectly synergized itself with magic. Potestas wanted the land for its advanced weaponry to militarize themselves further. Sapientia wanted it for its information, to use the Archive their advantage. However, Animus believed that Deus should remain asleep, to never awaken to cause anyone harm. In the end, Deus awakened on its own and ended the war; a security measure. By the end of it all, nearly all three sides were obliterated. However, the leader of Animus approached Deus and reprogrammed it. Afterward, a treaty was signed, something that would stabilize the nations and limit their desire for power and control.

In the end, there were schools dedicated to magic and weaponry. They were military academies that housed orphans, runaways, or those with the desire to strengthen their nation and protect their nation from the monsters that lurked within their land. Potestas's school was named OMEGA, Sapientia's was named EPSILON, and Animus was proclaimed SIGMA. The Academies have thus existed for 200 years, providing a world that had thus knew peace; or something akin to peace.

However, Potestas had grown restless, and as a result dark clouds began to swirl above the nation. In response to the darkness growing within and around Potestas, Sapientia began to isolate themselves, preparing to forever flee should Potestas make a move; whereas Animus steeled themselves, preparing for any misdeeds the North may have planned.

Potential war, adventure, and unavoidable destinies await for the new generation of Animus...

    Notes
    • Animus is a melting pot of races and cultures, making them quite diverse.
    • Due to the diversity of Animus, it has many personalities and beliefs (unlike Potestas (totalitarian) and Sapientia (isolationists)).
    • Even though this is a free roam RP, there are story arcs. If you have any ideas for a story arc, please let me know (that way, this RP can keep going).
    • I am sorry if you wanted to play with Potestas and Sapientia, but I cannot burden myself with making more characters than I could handle. It would be difficult to keep track of them and keeping this RP afloat.
    • There will be multiple mechanics in this RP, some of which would be a collaboration between players. So, in the future, keep an eye out for every post.
    • There will be mission boards you all can check if you want to go out on missions rather than loping around, hoping for someone to give you attention. I'll have these posted, and perhaps updated every so often. Who knows, you might even land a storyline quest :p
    • There will be classes that you can participate in. There are also sparring arenas in the Academy's gymnasium.
(MAPS will be updated here in a little bit. Also keep an eye out for more MAPS in the future...)

    Rules
    • No Godmodding
    • This is PG-13, so keep it all limited; you may hint about romantic events, but that is it. No XXX stuff... no matter how much I'd like to read it -_-"
    • No player killers without permission; you must speak with another player AND the GM (Game Master; Me).
    • Only 2 characters per person. 4 powers per character. Abilities must relate to each other in some way, and must be used with some restraint; unless you can use it in an awesome way in which I can't possibly be angry with you.
    • Any race is acceptable. However, if I see a race I feel uncomfortable with, I may ask for further information so we can at least let it work without anyone having to worry.
    • Characters can be no younger than 13.
    • If you have any ideas, let me know. Perhaps we can incorporate it into the story or into a mission.
    • Don't feel as if you're being restricted. You're not. Do whatever you like; until the Story comes in. Then the Story says you can still do whatever, just don't be a pain if you get hurt.
    • Respect your GM.
    • I reserve the right to break/bend the rules so long as it is for story purposes or to deal with a problem... we're not going to have problems, are we?
    • These rules are subject to change/additions.
    • Have fun! Ask plenty of questions!

    Character name: Sakurano Isamu

    Creature type: Human
    Age: 17
    Picture:

Personality: Isamu appears to be a very lazy person, always sleeping as he listens to music. He's heavily unmotivated, seeing no point in actually doing something that is so trivial. He spends the majority of his time reading manga (sometimes something inappropriate for all ages), playing video games, and eating ramen or pocky. He's quite shy around women, as well, unable to muster up the courage to speak to them; and when he does manage, he easily gets tongue-tied and sputters an inane comment, making him very idiotic in front of them. In many social situations, he's quite humble, even against his enemies; but by no means does he underestimate them. Isamu is confident in his own combat abilities, as well as his own magical talents. Ironically, Isamu is noble in nature, capable of taking up action should he need to. He's easy-going and carefree, for the most part, and is quite forgetful of certain events (or completely forgetful altogether).

He's a natural prodigy and has a high intellect, capable of passing his tests without any problems; save for physical tests, which he tends to either ignore or put very little effort in. Nevertheless, he prefer to live a simple life.

Fears: Lack of music, no more literature, no more video games, pretty women, and a world without ramen
Hobbies: Listening to music, reading manga, eating pocky and ramen, sleeping, video games
    Strengths: Kenjutsu, acrobatics, tactics, speed
    Weapon: Katana
Powers: Wind magic, Lightning magic, Supernatural Speed, Split-Second Precognition (enhanced reflexes; magical Spider-sense)
Extra Info: Isamu is an orphan who was raised by the many teachers of SIGMA. He's gifted in both magic and swordplay, as well as tactics, but shows mediocre understanding of strategy (at which he complains that it is "too much work!"). It's hinted he may have Attention Deficit Disorder.

Alright. My schedule has, officially, cleared itself up. For those who I've been RPing with, I apologize for my disappearance (yet again). I've been working a new job that had grown hectic and left me exhausted and busy. Since the holidays are just about over, with Christmas and New Years coming, everything has calmed down. I am now able to sit back, relax, and Roleplay once more and my status should become active.

And, to prove it, I bring to you this RP full of myth and legendry... a fairy tail, of sorts, born with magic and swords and perhaps even some technology only found in the greatest video games over the past generations. I draw great inspiration from Fairy Tail and the Final Fantasy franchise.

I pray you all enjoy yourselves with this story...
    Rating: T-thru-M
Content: Blood, foul language, and suggestive themes
    Genre: Fantasy/Sci-Fi, Adventure, Action

    Plot
Long ago, there was an age of great strife and chaos. Magic grew rampant, too great for the world to bear. Monsters stalked and slaughtered humans, dragons soaring the skies, and races so ancient attempting to enslave the world with advanced magicks. The madness was nigh impossible to disrupt, due to its source: Khaos, the Thing of Entropy and Demon King of Anarchy. So long as the Demon King's influence ensnared the world, warfare and hysteria would never fade away. In the midst of the devilish entity, from within its shadows arose a Man with great power and ambition, of wondrous compassion and a sense of heroism. The Man's name had been forgotten by time, though his titles still lives on: Magus of Ashfall, Master of the Nexus. He, and he alone, thwarted the monsters and ancient races, slaying and banishing them beyond the very fabrics of reality. As he rid the world of some of the Demon King's influence, he finally confronted Khaos himself. They fought for forty-one days and forty-one nights, neither needing nourishment or rest. They fought and the Demon King was defeated, torn asunder by the Nexus itself. Magus then banished the remnants of Khaos throughout the ninety-nine worlds, to ensure he could never return through the use of any magic.

Sadly, Magus was wounded fatally... he soon died as he rest upon Khaos's throne. The throne, made from Hell's Black Thorns, ensnared his body and encased it. Magus was preserved by the throne, and over time, they both vanished.

    500 years later...

Dragons have vanished and the world prospers. Though there are still remnants of monsters and the lesser known races of old, humans dominate the world. Advances in magic and technology have been achieved, with airships that run off mana and new forms of magic. However, much knowledge of the ancient world had been forgotten and lost to time, too old and complex to have been mastered by any other than Magus of Ashfall. Mages are less than half of the world's population, though they are revered as the Children of the Master of the Nexus. Guilds exist to house wayward wizards, to provide an independent militia to those who need them.

Now, off in the distance and beyond the horizon, a storm is brewing; though it has not yet made itself known. Are new heroes prepared to be born? Or will they become a new Khaos, to rule and destroy the legacy left behind by Magus of Ashfall?

    Rules
    • Follow our KHV rules, please.
    • No goddmoding or powerplaying. (Although, as Game Master / Master of the RP, I am exempt from this due to story purposes).
    • I prefer, for the moment, we keep this RP PG-13. If the story takes a darker turn, I'll allow some leniency towards certain things, like stronger language and some gore. Romance is fine, but nothing pornographic.
    • No killing or controlling others characters without said persons permission.
    • You can use just about any magic, except for the taboos: blood magic, necromancy, and illusion magic. Those are pretty much broken enough to cause metagaming/godmoding and powerplaying. Sorry if this upsets some of you.
    • Just because you're a mage doesn't mean you can't use weapons. I actually encourage versatility/creativity. So, please, if you want a character that is both physically able and mentally able, you can do so.
    • I prefer if you all can post at least a couple times a week. If you haven't posted in two weeks, without notice, I'll be forced to boot you to continue the story. Sorry :(
    • This RP revolves around choices. So, when starting, your character is pretty much a blank-slate in regards of morals. If you want to aim towards villainy, go for it. If you wanna aim for heroism, reach for the stars. I think this would make an interesting mechanic.
    • No insulting or bullying people outside of the RP.
    • Rules are subject to change; either with removals or additions.
    • If you have any ideas to improve the RP or rules or anything else just contact me. This is a no judgment zone. (I'm not going to change this rule, simply because it says pretty much everything).
    • Final Rule: Have fun!

    Plot
Half a century has past since the fall of Alduin, the demise of Vampire Lord Harkon, and the death of Miraak. • [IMG]
Imperials hail from Cyrodiil, the cosmopolitan heartland of Tamriel (or, simply put, the capitol of Tamriel). They are different from their cousins due to their pale-to-tan skin and their slender features. They, like Bretons, have a natural knack for magic and accept it on every level, mostly an intellectual/scientific one. They tend to have Latin names (Titus Rex, Angelo Maximus, etc). They are also great warriors, especially proficient in light armor.

Nords hail from Skyrim, the northern province of Tamriel. They are quite burly and muscular, the women still slender with much muscle and tone. They are pale skinned and commonly have pale hair, though having black or brown hair isn't quite rare; red being a rare color. They also tend to have pale blue eyes; but much like their hair, they can have brown, black, amber, and green eyes. Nords are more traditional than their Imperial cousins, preferring to live by the old ways. They shun magic (though some Nords do accept magic and practice it) and despise those who sneak, lie, cheat, and steal. Due to living in the harsh winterland of Skyrim, they have a natural immunity to cold/frost.

Bretons hail from High Rock. They are renowned for their mix blood. They have descended from Aldmer and Nordic lines, becoming a race of their own; they are regarded as Manmeri, or man-elf. They have pale skin and appear to look both elven and human, with slight pointed ears, high cheekbones, and a slender build. They also have more squared features, with some sharpness to them. They have a natural talent for magic and politics. They are normally flamboyant, poetic, and heavily charismatic.

Redguards hail from Hammerfell. They are humans of dark skin and hair, their eyes brown, black, or amber. They are quite fierce and hardy, specializing in battle tactics.
    Mer

Altmer, also known as High Elves, hail from the Summerset Isles. They are the tallest race, standing a full foot above the average human, elf, and beastman. They are usually slender with golden skin; golden, emerald, and amber eyes. Though they are commonly seen with pale blonde hair or snow white hair, it isn't as uncommon to find them with darker shades. They are most proficient with magic, making them powerful mages; though they are also quite fragile in comparison to the other races.

Dunmer hail from Morrowind. Dunmer are also known as Dark Elves. They are renowned for their versatility and many talents, despite being ill-fated. Dunmer are proficient with magic, sneaking, and fighting, making them a rather dangerous, well-rounded race. Due to their blood, they are highly immune to fire. Appearance wise, they are as tall as normal humans, taller than their Bosmer cousins and shorter than their Altmer cousins. They have dusky, ashy skin, their eyes many shades of red. It is quite rare for them to have lavender eyes. They are often slender and have many hair colors, ranging from snow white to silver, all the way to black.

Bosmer, also known as Wood Elves, hail from Valenwood. They are a slender, short race of elves, with tan skin and dark hair. They prefer the lush wilderness, rather than civilized cities. They are adept at sneaking and archery, as well as making poisons. They, themselves, have immunity to disease and poisons, making them the ideal assassins. They also aren't below melee fighting and may have some affinity to magic due to their elven lineage.

Orsimer, also known as Orcs, hail from Orsinium. They are of green-skin, which also ranges to brown. They are a tall, well-built people. They are often disliked, but they seem to be willing to help humans. They are primarily fighters, but some have an affinity to magic.
    Beast

Khajiit hail from Elsweyr. They are anthropomorphic cats, who specialize in hand-to-hand combat. Their claws are just as deadly as any weapon. They are as tall as the average human and their fur and eyes can be many, many colors and decorated with stripes or blotches. They possess a unique ability called "Night Eye", allowing them to see in the darkest of darknesses or through the darkness of night. They are also good assassins and monks.

Argonians hail from Black Marsh. They are lizard folk with the ability to breathe underwater, and they are quite thin and agile. They make for good thieves and assassins, due to their immunity to poisons. They are also unpredictable fighters. Their scales can range from gold to red to black, and even green.
    Skills
Warrior: Warriors focus on melee combat, resorting to sword and shield. They can wear heavy armor or light armor. They have higher endurance and stamina.
Mage: Mages focus on magic, allowing them to tap into the powers of nature and cause devastating damage or heal massive wounds. They are highly intelligent and powerful conduits, but they are quite fragile in regards to warriors.
Thief: Thieves focus on stealth, assassination, pickpocketing, and lockpicking. They are quite adept with Alchemy (potion brewing and poison making) ; they are also deadly with archery. They are just as fragile, but are capable of using a sword or dagger to fend off a foe should they be noticed. They're quick, agile, and overall deadly.
    Current Storyline Quest(s)
    Arc I
    In Search for the Emperor
    (Not Yet Initiated)
    Current Events in Tamriel
    • The Second Great War has been put at a standstill, both the Empire and the Aldmeri Dominion taking a pause to recover their strength. This pause has created a temporary cold war; especially during a rare, unknown natural event called "The Seven Year Winter". It has been six years since the war has continued, but it has not yet stopped, for both parties still attack one another if it is advantageous. The Dark Brotherhood and the Morag Tong (now newly formed) are flourishing greatly. The Empire is currently trying to make amends with Skyrim and attempting to form a strong alliance with the newly revived Morrowind. The Thalmor are also trying to strengthen their grip on Tamriel be strengthening their alliances to Elseweyr and Valenwood.

The Emperor, however, is missing. He had vanished without a word, leaving many to speculate if he had lost faith in the Empire, leaving it all to the ever growing shadow of the Aldmeri Dominion. This has caused an uproar from all of the Empire loyalists.
    FAQ
    What is a Paragon?
A Paragon is a special individual who was purposely selected by the Gods, in particular Talos, to be the savior of Tamriel from the tyranny of those who wish to enslave the lesser races (non-Altmer races). Though they have no special abilities like that of a Dragonborn, they seem to have exceptional skills and luck. Their fates are intertwined with the fate of all Tamriel, if not ALL of Mundus itself.
    What is the Aldmeri Dominion?
The Aldmeri Dominion is an Empire that rules the Summerset Isles, ran by the Thalmor, who are Altmer (High Elves) Supremacists. The Aldmeri Dominion currently possesses alliances between the Bosmer (Wood Elves) province of "Valenwood" and the Khajiit (cat people) province of "Elsweyr". These two additional nations thus become additional power and land for the Aldmeri Dominion.
    Who are the Thalmor?
The Thalmor are radical High Elves, who live/rule in the Summerset Isles. The Summerset Isles is an isolated island from Tamriel, despite the fact it once was a part of the Empire. However, they are now their own nation, who firmly believes that they should rule the world over the lesser races, believing themselves to be the only ones pure enough to rule and keep the peace through their superior intellect and affinity to magic. Through propaganda over the last two and a half centuries, they firmly believe that they have ended the Oblivion Crisis; wherein the truth, it was the Hero of Kvatch and Martin Septim, the last Septim to rule the Empire. There is many other propaganda used to rally nationalism and supremacy to the young and the naive for their "noble" cause.
If I choose a race, does it mean I am from there?
No, it just means that is where your ancestry is from. Your character could have been born anywhere. However, the Summerset Isles is an isolationist nation, so if you have fled from the Thalmor Inquisition, you are a traitor if you are Altmer. If you are an Altmer and was born in Cyrodiil, you are viewed under Thalmor suspicion. Altmer are also quite feared in Tamriel, despite nationality, so the racism is quite high.
I don't know much about the Elder Scrolls... does this keep me from joining?
No, it doesn't. I hope this RP gets you interested in the franchise. If you want to know more, I'll also have the wiki posted; the regions in the Race section are linked to the wiki as well, if you want to learn more about the province you are from. And to note, this RP is also non-canon in regards of the "current events", and somewhat non-canon from the previous events before this RP. The Dragonborn, who I now made Emperor, was usually depicted as a Nord; though the canon for that is questionable, at best, because it really depended on the player on who the Dragonborn was meant to be. Which, in that case, I'm using MY Dragonborn I created... you will be meeting him soon.As well, you'll be learning the lore in the RP as well, as to avoid you folks from feeling isolated from the world.

    Rules
    • Follow KHV's Rules: They apply here just like they do on any other section on the site. Follow them, please.
    • No Godmodding/Powerplaying: No controlling others without their permission or my permission, being an ultimate being who can never be defeated or get hit ever, etc.
    • Be Respectful to RP Staff,to Myself and Each other: Remember that we are people too. I don't want to see any rudeness in this RP to other members, RP staff or myself. Respect means several things here. That also means no mega fast posting that leaves people behind with no explanation about what has happened. An RP involves a number of people, not just a few individuals. Everyone should be as equally involved as they want to be.
    • This is in the Extended Section: Please post a minimum of THREE PARAGRAPHS (just don't make novels about how pretty a bathroom looks. Stick to the main points. Writer's Block is understandable, just don't make a habit of it.)
    • Keep me and your fellow RPers you're interacting with informed about when you can post.
    • Unused Characters WILL be Deleted AFTER A MAXIMUM OF TWO WEEKS [Unless I'm Notified why you are absent:]I'm not unreasonable. Naturally; health reasons, real life issues, school, or whatever all count. I won't be mad, just be sure to tell me what's holding you up so I can better understand your situation. I believe this is perfectly reasonable and fair.
    • Multi-classing will be available later on; however, the proficiency will be less than your starting Skill.
    • I, Sessamaru, Can Add, Change, and Remove Rules when I NEED TO.
    • I'll only allow a maximum of TWO CHARACTERS per person.

    ~City of Heroes~
    ~Level: Advanced/Extended~ ~Rated: PG-13 to Mature~ ~Genre: Fantasy/Sci-Fi, Romance, Action, Horror~ ~Main RP: Coming soon~
    ~Note~
When I was frequenting another forum, a while back, I had many friends who were RPers. One such friend and his cousin created an RP called "City of Heroes". It was the coolest RP I've been in. A year or two later, I came back here; six months after I vanished from this site, I saw that mindstorm787 had created a similar RP, but it was placed in a modern Earth. The RP "City of Heroes" had taken place in a Pangaea world. Mindstorm787's RP, just from reading it, inspired me to start my own "City of Heroes" RP. So, I would like to thank mindstorm787 for inadvertently inspiring me to redo this RP in my image.
    ~Plot~
    Valhallah.

Valhallah was once a place where humans lived normal lives. The technology evolved to great heights; however, so did the genetic code of a select few humans. This gene was call the Elysia gene, and from this gene spawned the Ubermensch, humans of considerable power. The strongest of these special humans were considered gods... and rightfully so. Fourteen gods, alone, had taken down the normal humans and established the New World Order. Humans became the minority, despite remaining the majority populace; the Ubermensch became the majority and possessed ruling power over the masses.

This New World Order did not last, however. Half of the gods argued that to maintain power, they would need to selectively breed to keep their new society pure... and kill the humans. The other half argued that they should rule benevolently, showing the normal humans the true path to peace, wishing to co-exist with them. This schism caused the gods to wage wars for countless aeons. These wars caused the Shattered Rifts, breaking the Pangaea world. Seven continents were formed; the gods, weary of the wars, fell into a deep sleep...

The humans were all but eradicated, and the several million that survived repopulated each continent. Unbeknownst to the slumbering gods, the humans had performed a miracle... they created more Ubermensch. Nevertheless, the humans treated the Ubermensch with great disdain in the absence of the gods. The humans rebuilt their civilizations and punished, ostracized, and murdered the Ubermensch when their powers manifested.

Scientists provided solace for the Ubermensch, with the proposition that they were allowed to perform tests. These scientists were quite kind to the Ubermensch, only taking samples of them to study their genetic code. They even performed field tests to see the extent and possibilities of their powers.

And here, the destined Ubermensch with great potentials begin their quest, in Lab #696...

    Elysium.

    ~Rules~
    • NO GODMODDING! NO POWERPLAYING! (I, as the GM, am exempt from this for potential story purposes)
    • Try to stay active in the thread. The maximum that you can be inactive for is a month.
    • You must have a minimum of 3 paragraphs in your post.
    • I'll allow up to a max of 3 characters.
    • Follow the KHV rules. All of them, including the RP rules.
    • Keep me, and your fellow RPers, informed about you ability to post. I may let you all get away with not posting beyond a month so long as it is a viable reason (it usually is).
    • Be respectable to everyone. If I see any sign of disrespect, and you continue to do so, you will be booted. So... don't feed the troll, guys.
    • You're allowed only one power. This power will remain with you throughout the RP; but, this power also develops further as you go on. Once we hit a particular marker, I'll allow you all to upgrade your power.
    • As an Ubermensch, you are born this way rather than created or injected with this power. So please no experiments or modified Ubermensch... the scientists have not done any sort of research on that end. (This rule is also here to prevent OVERPOWERED characters).
    • I have the power to change/add rules. You will be notified when this happens.

*Character Name: Stefano Macellazione, goes by the alias of "Hunter"
      *Age: 20
*Appearance: 5"9 in height, slightly muscular body, looks to be average in terms of fitness. Wears a black shirt with the image of a skull on it and a pair of dark blue slacks. Has light, pale orange colored hair and a beard of the same color that looks as though he cut it himself with a knife.
*Personality: Extremely aggressive and heavily prone to violence, enjoys insulting others. Almost never does something to help others unless he can see it working out for him in some way.
      *Power/Ability: Extremely strong (super strength)
*Weapon: (Optional): Nothing but his fists.
*Bio: Born and raised in the streets, Hunter is no stranger to violence. In fact, he embraces it, and if someone were to ask he could show them many scars located all over his body from various fights in his past. Slowly as he fought more and more, he noticed himself getting stronger. At first he shrugged it off, merely thinking of it as practice kicking in, but he came to realize that it was more than that. He was, and had presumably always been, an Ubermensch. Deciding to do something that may benefit him even more than collecting money for "eliminating" people, he decided to give himself up to science in the hopes that they may eventually see fit to make him even more powerful.

    ~Bushido: The Soul of Musashi~
    ~Level: Advanced/Extended~ ~Rated: PG-13 to Mature~ ~Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Action, Comedy~ ~Main RP: Coming soon~
    ~Plot~
Long ago, in an age when magic and steel were harmonious, there was once a great and powerful samurai by the name of Musashi. He had lay to waste the armies of potential tyrants, his power and skill unmatched. He had slain thousands of demons, cast away oni, frightened tengu, and even earned the respect and blessings of dragons and gods alike. This was all during an era of chaos, and with his presence he had brought peace. However, Musashi was only one man and soon withered away with time. In his passing, he had left behind a remarkable power. The Soul. It was once left to his family, and they had repeatedly abused its power... and eventually, the Warrior Monks of Amaterasu had hid away the power, believing that no one had the will to possess it. And so, it was hidden away.
    Forever.
However, even as time passed and magic withered, the Soul remained and was soon to be discovered again. Five hundred years later, when magic became nothing more than myth, the Thirteen Shoguns had discovered that the Soul of Musashi remained far to the East, where Amaterasu wakens the heavens. After much debate, they declared war amongst themselves. Their daimyos summoned the few remaining samurai, and each daimyo declared that only one samurai would act as champion to retrieve the Soul. The champions were promised great power and influence for this service should they succeed, or they were to partake in seppuku should they fail. Some were simply forced, without a choice other than committing suicide. To this end, this task was an initiation to a cold war: an arms race.
It would only take one side to start a civil war.
Unbeknownst to man, the nightmares of myth and legendry were also searching for the bane of their existence. They wanted the power, more than anyone, to rule over Man once more; and soar to even greater heights.
    ~Rules~
    • NO GODMODDING! NO POWERPLAYING! (I, as the GM, am exempt from this for potential story purposes)
    • Try to stay active in the thread. The maximum that you can be inactive for is a month.
    • You must have a minimum of 3 paragraphs in your post.
    • I prefer if most characters are between the ages of 15 to 24.
    • I'll allow up to a max of 3 characters.
    • Follow the KHV rules. All of them, including the RP rules.
    • Just because this RP is also a romance doesn't mean you can go haywire with it. Keep it casual, no cybering, and you can hint at such interactions. Otherwise, this is only considered mature due to potential blood and gore.
    • Keep me, and your fellow RPers, informed about you ability to post. I may let you all get away with not posting beyond a month so long as it is a viable reason (it usually is).
    • Names of characters and weapons must be Japanese due to its setting.
    • Be respectable to everyone. If I see any sign of disrespect, and you continue to do so, you will be booted. So... don't feed the troll, guys.
    • Later in the RP, a Soul Drive will be implemented. Soul Drive activates at random when awakened; after it's awakened, you may use it to your hearts content. I will randomize its activation; do NOT use Soul Drive unless stated otherwise!
    • Soul Drive will have THREE states. The Awakened State, the Transformed State, and the Ultimate State. As stated above, their activation will be randomized. If yours has not been awakened, then please be patient.
    • Samurai can be either Male or Female; not all samurai are limited to using a katana as a preferred weapon (some use Naginata, others use various other weaponry).
    • As extension to the previous rule, make sure you use a weapon of Japanese (or Oriental if you wish) make. European or Middle-Eastern weapons will not be allowed due to setting purposes.
    • The ability to use magic will also awaken later (or sooner) in the RP. As of now, you cannot use it unless otherwise stated.
    • As a Samurai, you are a noble; however, I'll randomize the influence of your noble status, from "who's that?" to well-known. However, once it's been randomized, your familial status will remain so; however, during your adventure, your character alone will garner their own influence, ergo they'll slowly become recognized and revered (or feared).
    • I have the power to change/add rules. You will be notified when this happens.

Dancing the thin line between reality and fantasy,
A minuet fitting to one's thoughts,
A worrisome endeavor for the threat
    Of Madness.

    The echoing memories of laughter
    Resonate from your breast,
Mocking the truth of what never is,
    And what may ever be.

    Laugh as one may laugh,
    Though at nothing in particular,
    At the nothingness of life,
    For enlightenment reveals arcane secrets.

    Nihilism, truly a dreadful thing,
    Devours sanity with despair,
For to those we pray simply laugh
    And turn the other cheek.

May we never suffer such a revelation,
    Though I fear we have
    And no other is sane...
Save for those who never were.

    Story
The world of Soringaard was quite ancient, seeing many wars and many evolutions. In its youth, Soringaard was ravaged by war and the raw primal powers of the Omniverse: Ki and Mana. Ki was the power of the physical body, made up of natural energy that allows vitality in those of the living and grants gifts to those with strong amounts of it, allowing them natural flight and great physical strength, amongst other things. Mana was the power of the spirit, made up of eldritch energy that allows one to call upon the elements of nature, amongst other things. They were two of the same, yin and yang. These powers tore asunder the world, creating mountains, vast oceans, abysmal ravines. Since then, humans have learned to hone these primordial powers within them to prevent the absolute oblivion of their world. Though more wars followed, civilizations arose from the ashes and the world did not change or die. Humans then delved into technology when the wars subsided, focusing on other means of advancement. Weapons evolved, machines arose, and history began to change. Ki soon fell into shadows, never to be used by Man, and with the advancement of technology came an advancement and fusion of Mana, which was thus dubbed as Magic.
Magic evolved naturally and its art became stronger and more arrayed, no longer a thing of simple elements. The Laws of Magic were also founded, much like the Laws of Physics have been established by Nature itself.
In the midst of this, wars broke out once more when other civilizations founded their own powers of weaponry, magic, and machinery. All that was left was pure nihilism, wars fought over for the sake of power, land, and wealth. Though humans had grown stronger in the use of Mana, Ki fell away and humanity became weaker and far more mortal.
And to the dismay of Man, the Daemons of Hell broke through the barriers that divided them and a more crucial war was fought. Many humans died, and very few demons, daemons (greater demons), and Devils suffered any casualties. Though humans had great strength in their technology and magic, it was not enough to harm the vast number of Hell's legions. As if to remind Man of their true strength, the gods sent forth a Champion. He was an unusual human who could access Ki and Mana in perfect harmony. Were it not for this Champion, mankind would collapse beneath the hordes of Darkness.
After the triumph of Mankind, the humans began their lives anew. The Champion, however, grew restless during the era of peace. With the power of the gods in the palm of his hand, he began to wreak havoc upon his own kind. He dwelled into the darker aspects of magic, of Mana, and performed acts that were sacrilegious. The gods grew angry with the man and stripped him of the gifts. The humans also took revenge upon the Champion, their once beloved Hero, and banished him into the depths of Hell... to be tormented by the very enemies they once resented. The gods, ever a fickle bunch, cursed man and stole away their use of Mana and forever locked away their potential.
In the end, humanity was "normal". They, restless, continued to advance their technology. One particular human, a scientist by the name of Schrodinger, discovered a secret that even the gods failed to hide... the world of Soringaard possessed its own energy source beyond even electromagnetism: Primordium. Primordium, it was theorized, was the true state of all energy sources; a sort of soup that existed before the ingredients were ever created for it. A paradoxical thing, Primordium was a liquid thick with radiation; a raw element of pure chaos with infinite energy output.
Once discovered, Schrodinger created the Machine-City, Deus. Deus was thus deemed a city-state, and capitol, of Soringaard. The gods became forgotten in time, as did Ki, and the scientist was later worshiped for his genius. Though despite the power of the gods, Mankind evolved to the point that they re-developed the use of mana.
As time went on, Mankind descended into darkness... and awaiting them to fall further into the abyss was a vengeful enemy.

    About the RP
Congratulations, you made it through the wall of text. Now time for you to learn about what your roles are. As the protagonists of the story, you're going to become a strange anomaly amongst mankind. Your ability to use Ki and Mana will be heavily emphasized in the RP and the results may or may not be pretty. Because you're all so different from normal humans, you will be looked upon with either awe or scorn or both. How you gained this ability is unknown, but as the story progresses, you'll learn a lot of startling things that will, in the end, (re)define your characters.
As you journey throughout Soringaard, you'll fight cultists who also gained this ability through secret means, find mystical creatures who lay dormant since the dawn of Man, secret weapons, the spawns of Hell, and discover ugly truths about the past, present, and future.
Since you're so ungodly powerful, with enhanced reflexes, immense speed, etc., you're not going to need guns (though having a weapon may or may not help). Swords, pikes, and so on still exist and are commonly used by the more powerful people of Soringaard, who also possess unique abilities. (Cultists are a prime example, and so are those infected with... well... you'll find out later :p)
Also, this is an "Advanced" RP, so don't slack.
Anywho... if you have questions, please ask.
    About Ki
Ki is the power-source of all physical matter, imbuing it with vitality and pure energy. Though Ki is a unique source of power, it is very similar to the human body: in order to make it grow, hard-work, effort, and experience are needed. Ki isn't unlimited, either, for it relies on the raw physical stamina of the person possessing it. It runs on a tank of metaphorical gas, so don't overuse it or you'll probably die. The abilities that accompany Ki is flight, enhanced speed and reflexes, heightened "sixth" sense (and the other five senses), superior stamina, and increase of raw physical power (i.e. greater strength).
Despite this, your character's comprehension of Ki is quite limited and therefore you're just slightly stronger, faster, and better than "normal" humans. I'll elaborate on this more later.
    About Mana
Mana is the spirit-fueled power source for magic. Since the creation of all, everyone and everything was imbued with the four elements: Fire, Water, Earth, and Wind. Like Ki, Mana can grow though effort and experience. Your spiritual power, though strong, isn't unlimited. Spells, depending on the focus needed and its sheer magnitude, can either quickly or slowly deplete your reserves. Once you use up that tank of gas, you're left with either ki or your own ability as a normal human-being. Any attempts to use a spell will either fail or cause death.
As you begin, you start with an affinity to a particular element. Later on, as your character grows, you will learn how to use more elements. As you learn more about the elements, you will later access a new repertoire of spells that combines these elements... and access even the darker sides of magic.
    (Affinities)
    Fire
    Earth
    Water
    Air/Wind
    Rules
    1) Despite being an avatar of pure awesome, you are not allowed to godmod/metagame/power-play. Even though you're practically superhuman, you're still susceptible to wounds from bullets, sharp cuts, and blunt objects. Not to mention that sometimes numbers can, and will, overcome you. So be wise about what you do.
    2) I'll allow 2 characters per person, but no more than that. They must also be of differing affinities.
    3) Posts must be at least 6 sentences long. That's a paragraph. Any less and I'm going to have to ask you to edit. Detail is important, as are emotions. This also applies to the OC form's "Personality".
4A) If you're gone for a week without notice, I'm killing off your character(s). If you're in the middle of an important event (such as a fight), you have three days to post before he/she dies.
4B) Please let me know how long you're going to be gone for so I can put your character(s) aside until you return. If you lose interest, let me know and I'll do something with your character(s). (Either I'll kill them or use them for plot purposes).
    5) No personal drama!
    6) No player-killing without the consent of both the player you're about to kill and myself (if I do not know of this, it did not happen and I will kill your character).
    7) I have the right to add/edit MY rules.
    8) Obey the Role Play Arena's Rules, please.
    9) I am exempt from these rules. I have a life outside of the forums, you know, and I will need the ability to alter/usher-on the RP/story if progress needs to be made.
    10) I encourage you all to have fun with this RP, since it is your all's playground.

    RE: SIGMA

    Synopsis

It all began centuries ago, when the nations of Gaeus fell into disgrace. The eight nations fought amongst themselves for resources and land, to gain power over one another. They all converged, causing a schism amongst their peoples. These people, in the midst of war, fought against their government. Due to the war, due to the vexation of the people, the world was thrown into chaos for the second time... the first was at the birth of Man.

The people had learned from a passing Sage the Forbidden Arts. Because of the Forbidden Arts, the world was thrown into chaos, causing many to go insane and many others to start their own smaller nations. In the end, it was the first Cataclysm to befall the people of Gaeus. The dead walked, men and women and children weep and laughed, and many others were suffering from plagues... never allowed to die. This era of pain and misery was pulled to a halt when eight wise scientists, one from each country, found the solution for peace. Those who knew the Forbidden Arts were housed in prisons and asylums. Those who suffered by the forsaken magic were placed in hospitals and asylums. And those who were oppressed and afraid were given homes.

However, their methods were never recorded, for Man was thrown into a Dark Age; the scientists had lived in seclusion far beneath Gaeus's surface.

In the end, these scientists, men of both the Arcane Arts and Technology, had brought unto the people a new peace. As the darkness receded, the golden sun arose for the people under their gaze. In hopes to hold back the darkness, the scientists had created a school, not only for education... but to exercise martial control.

This school exists upon the Crossroads of the eight nations. It was named SIGMA ((Scientific Institute of Guardianship through Mastery of Weaponry And Arcane Arts)) by the BSD ((Bureau of Scientific Development)), the organization formed by the eight scientists.

As of now, the school exists as a mercenary company created by the BSD, Gaeus's new government, to keep the world in place and to disrupt anything that threatens the peace. Despite the BSD's grip on the world, it is not strong enough to control the will of others... or those that are savage.

    *************
    Base Magic

Pyromancy: Fire magic. This element symbolizes power and passion. Pyromancy is commonly used for weapon augmentation and mid-range combat. Fire spells are weak against aquamancy, strong against aeromancy, and nulled by geomancy.

Aquamancy: Water magic. This element symbolizes serenity and flexibility. Aquamancy is commonly used for healing and area-attacks. It is weak against geomancy, strong against pyromancy, and nulled by aeromancy.

Geomancy: Earth magic. This element symbolizes strength and protection. It is commonly used for protection and close-combat. It is weak against aeromancy, strong against aquamancy, and nulled by pyromancy.

Aeromancy: Wind magic. It symbolizes tranquility and harmony. It is commonly used for close-to-mid-range-combat and speed-augmentation. It is weak against pyromancy, strong against geomancy, and nulled by aquamancy.

The basis of magic is founded around the four elements of creation. So much so, that those born have a peculiar affinity towards one of the elements and is capable of casting spells of said element. This is a natural talent.

*One area of magic per person. (More may be learned later).

    *************

    Specialization

CQC: Close-Quarter-Combat specialization. Those who use aeromancy, pyromancy, and geomancy are most adept at this. (This involves melee weapons, or simple hand-to-hand combat). Despite being able to use magic, CQC fighters aren't as proficient in magic as Healers or Spellcasters.

Healer: Healers are commonly medics who use both magic and first-aid. They are more proficient in magic than CQC and Support, but weaker in direct combat. Aquamancers and, at times, geomancers are likely to choose this route.

Support: Support fighters are the defenders and, if clever enough, decoys of the group. They aren't as good as CQC combatants, and not as great at magic like Healers and Spellcasters, but they are proficient at what they do. They are commonly mid-to-long range fighters capable of arousing shields or barrier of their particular element. Any field of magic can do.

Spellcaster: Spellcasters are the best at what they do. They can use their magic to extreme heights, but are immensely fragile when in combat. Though they lack a fighter's reflexes, they possess a swift, calculating mind that allows them to cast a spell faster than the ordinary spell-user (CQC, Support). Unlike Healers, they are capable of doing damage from a decent range. However, alone, they are pitiful... unless they have enough distance between themselves and their enemy. Aside from their weakness, spellcasters are the only ones who are powerful enough to make a pact with the Elementals. This pact allows them to conjure their respected elementals to assist them in battle. However, this takes a lot of magic, and the magic that links conjurer and the conjured takes a toll depending on the amount of time the elemental has been summoned. Any field of magic can do.

    *************

    The Four Taboos of Magic

Sangromancy: Blood magic. Blood magic is known for its use to cast dark spells of the various elements, tainted with their own blood. Not only can it cast elemental spells, but it can also cast non-elemental spells. To further this, sangromancy is capable of many things, ranging from conjuration to target manipulation. It is a cruel form of magic.

Umbramancy: Shadow magic. It is a vile form of magic that creates illusions. These illusions can be physical or psychological. Not only are the illusions mind-breaking, but they can be powerful enough to literally manipulate the shadows around the caster of victim. It is considered the most sadistic of the four taboos.

Pathomancy: Plague magic. Pathomancy causes rot, decay, and death. Magic becomes tainted, and as a result, it destroys everything in its path. Pathomancy is the most complex out of the four taboos of magic.

Necromancy: Black magic. Necromancy is considered the most sacrilegious form of magic. It taints the Nexus, the source of all magic and creation, and brings the dead to life in the most darkest sense. It is the most powerful of the four and has a common relationship of the other three.

    Rules

    1. No Godmodding or Power-Playing. I reserve the right to do so if I need something to be pushed for in the story of this RP.
    2. If I grow weary of a problem I did not foresee (or expect to happen), I will add rules to prevent further issues of the problem. To add, I may change rules in the future as I see fit... but this is only when I think I can take the story into a different, more interesting path.
    3. I will allow only one character per person, and one specialization per character. As stated above, only one element per character... until I see fit that you can handle another form of magic.
    4. The Four Taboos of Magic are OFF-LIMITS.
    5. I’m going to kill your character off if you cause frequent problems or have been gone for more than 1 week without notice.
    6. Related to the previous rule, if you’re gone for about three days or so in the middle of interacting with another character the other character will be allowed to ignore you. Two days max for something more important.
    7. Your character can’t be all-knowing.
    8. I encourage you to ask questions! Even if you aren't part of the RP!
    9. Ask me anything in the OOC or in PM.
    10. I expect some descriptive detail. If I find something amiss, I will "ask" (more like demand) that you fix it (or explain further).
    11. Have fun.

    11. Have fun.

    What's New?
First, I want to say that this RP is a reboot of the original.

With that done and over with... *ahem* though my opening post doesn't say it, you're all students in a military-academy called "SIGMA", where you learn about magic, the omniverse, and weaponry. In the midst of your academia, you also do field exercises and real missions (much like in Naruto... which, honestly, is the best example I can give). Like every other RP, this one encourages character development, drama, and having fun.

What's new about this RP is that... well... for one, Karasu isn't going to be making an appearance (I'm switching him out for "Affinities" Ulrich... with a twist). Secondly, there is going to be more detail about the world, the Nexus, and more character interaction... after the opening railroading which consists of learning about the basis of magic. There is also more history, though some of it may be cryptic or overall vague. You will experience more classes, as well. In fact, I'm going to post the schedules of your classes before I start the RP.

Thirdly, the story, though stretched out into arcs, may get your brains in gear. Be prepared to face Daemons and madmen, as well as the temptations of the taboos.

Overall, be ready to ride this RP. I'm not the only one who's going to be telling the story. This RP is your RP... so long as you don't try to warp my story-arcs (like instantly stabbing my villains before I could react... or making your own villains and kidnapping my RP). In the end, be ready to help me weave a story of a life-time.

Also, ignore the man behind the screen.

    Appearance:

Personality: Ulrich appears to be a lazy, happy-go-lucky boy whose smile often shows ignorance and bliss. However, deep down, he's like every other orphan. Hurt and lonely. Like his fellow witch and wizard, he harbors strong hatred towards those who had done him wrong. However, he's quite sensible and will not attack anyone out of spite. Though he's level-headed and calm, Ulrich tends to be a clown. He also has a strong desire to be anonymous, not wanting to be the reason that those he cares for to be hurt. He is willing to take a beating and he will never give up, regardless how grave the situation seems.

An interesting personality trait of his is his charisma. His charisma is born from his friendly-nature and his ability to sympathize with everyone on a very emotional level. Due to this, he is also a very self-sacrificing person, willing to do anything for those around him. Although, hypocritically, he does not burden people with his own problems. This may be due to his desire to remain anonymous and to keep them detached from him.

Another positive personality trait he possesses is that he will keep all of his promises.
    Equipment: N/A
Other: Ulrich is a genius and an innovator, capable of outsmarting his enemies. He's also extremely powerful in the ways of Earth magic, but he seems to hold back... as if he's afraid.

    Project: ULTIMA
The Fenrir Corporation. They are the ruling government of Mundus, a planet located in the Central Solar System of the Omniverse, fourth planet from the sun "Drako". Ever since the insurrection against the old government, the Fenrir Corporation had supported the people and gained the power and support of the people... which allowed them to perform the coup de grace by usurping the ruling leaders.

Since then, the Corporation extended its scientific research, unhindered by the Old Laws. To this extent, they began to branch out into Space... and beyond. In doing so, they made new discoveries and came up with newer experiments that were, if anything, illegal. Regardless, these amoral experiments were secretive even to the Corporations military. Ironically, the soldiers were experimented on themselves without their knowledge.
In the end, the Corporation began working on their trump card... Project: ULTIMA, a BWMD capable of destroying a planet. They began the experiment after discovering traces of White Matter, which seemed to possess unique qualities. One of these qualities was to latch onto DNA and mutate it. However, the effects were often negative when applied to humans, for their bodies degenerated, breaking down molecule after molecule in a matter of minutes. Another property was the effects of entropy when exposed to air, which forced them to keep the WM in a constant vacuum. However, this revolutionized weaponry, allowing them to make guns that use beams on concentrated WM. WM had multiple purposes, like a source of infinite energy or anti-gravitational devices. But... after finding a particular specimen in the Omniversal Void of Space, they applied the WM to the entity's DNA.
As it turned out as a success, they cryogenically froze the specimen, dubbed "Project: ULTIMA", and began the execution phase (or field testing) by using criminals or by kidnapping well-renowned warriors. To them, they applied multi-purpose nanomachines that enhanced reflexes, strength, stamina, speed, and mental capacity to superhuman levels, as well as giving them heightened senses (as well as the sixth sense) and an accelerated healing factor on par with regeneration. All-in-all, they, too, have been cryogenically frozen and their memories wiped.
And thus, they are to partake in an Omniversal Tournament, the guise for the true purpose: to test and officially execute Project: ULTIMA.

    The Time Spiral Sign-Up Thread

    Story
    Prologue - Fragment
In the Realm Of Darkness appeared nine white cloaked figures, who shown with an eldritch radiance that denied the darkness. They all stood in a circle, staring at each other. After a moment's silence, the tallest of the white cloaked figures stepped forward. "It is time..." the tall member began, his voice deep and empty like the sea of darkness in which they resided. "The Time Spiral will open the way to Kingdom Hearts."

"Fustax," spoke a petite member, her voice like silver bells. "What makes you so sure this will work?" She asked, voicing the cynical concern of her ilk.

"Do not insult my intelligence, Xeras," Fustax replied, his tone both amused and condescending. "I have performed this experiment numerous times with consistent results. If you have doubts, you have my permission to strike me down." He added wryly. Xeras backed down from the challenge, however.

"What of Maleficent?" Spoke another male member. His voice wasn't as deep as Fustax's, but it was just as hollow. "Wouldn't she prove to be an obstacle to us?"

Fustax laughed. "If she wasn't an obstacle, then our plan would be all for naught, my dear Taxend."

"Of course, Lord Fustax..." Taxend conceded, bowing his head. "It was a foolish question."

The leader nodded. "Are you all prepared to perform the Fragment?" He asked, glancing at the eight members. They nodded in unison and began to perform the task at hand, allowing the darkness to envelop them.

    Chapter I
    Mark of Mastery Exam
Master Hikari, the granddaughter of Kairi, strolled into the Chamber of Awakening where she summoned the keyblade wielders. She was tall and willowy, appearing younger than her actual age, with short brown hair. She looked a lot like Kairi, but some of her features resembled her grandfather a little bit more, like her hair color. She wore a black jacket with tight sleeves, a red tanktop, tight black jeans, and red-black shoes. Her brilliant blue eyes shone with excitement, something of which was abnormal for someone her age.

"Hey-a!" Hikari greeted, smiling. "Before we begin, please introduce yourselves. Your Exam will be done in two parts, so please be honest!"

It has been twenty years since the passing of Sora and his friends... now the new Chosen must embark on a quest to end the twenty-year long war and pass their Mark of Mastery Exams.

    Fade to Black

    Fade to Black
The kingdom of Aria was removed from existence as a meteor fell from the heavens. From the crater marched an army of shadows, singing horrid hymns that would make ones blood run thin and steal the heat from one's soul. At the head of the army was a single man, whose face was painted white with two red lines running from his eyes to his jawline. Atop his head was a jester's hat with four silver bells, and those bells sang an eerie tune. He wore all purple-and-green, his hoses having horizontal stripes, and vertical stripes on his torso. His nose was long, narrow, curved, and pointed; as were his ears. The man wore purple clogs with silver bells, too. His hair was long and green, pulled into a ponytail. The jester's lips were too purple and too wide, a horrifying glasgow smile. What was worse was that this entity had eyes as black as midnight, as if his eyes were gouged out... however, nothing would glisten more than eyes of glee; of madness and euphoria unbeknownst to mortals. His eyes were the eyes of a demon, so black that at first glance, they didn't exist.

The news spread of this jester's existence, of his army of nihilistic doomsayers. Many tremble in fear and seek to destroy him, for wherever he went, destruction followed.

In the kingdom of Nova, the king himself began to assemble his armies...

The declaration of war was made, whether the jester knew it or not...

    Classes
Swordsman- A swordsman is a swift warrior who uses (as the name states) a sword. Sometimes two. Swordsmen are much faster than the average warrior and know martial techniques that are superior to standard military martial arts. They're elite, but are inefficient against long-range attackers.
Mancer- A Mancer is a conduit of strange phenomenon. They are born this way and have only ONE affinity to a particular element. This is sometimes seen as a form of extraordinary mental kinesis or as magic; they are the same, regardless of culture. They tend to be physically weak but mentally strong, as well as being valued as long-range assailants.
Healer- Healers are both taught how to use Divine energy as well as using modern medicinal practices. They are the backbone of any military or group, and are thus invaluable to any cause. They have some martial prowess, but are considerably inferior to Swordsmen and Paladins.
Paladin- Paladins are Holy Knights trained in every style of weaponry. They are fueled with Divine energy and are thus walking-talking tanks of Divine Wrath. They can channel Divine energy into their Specialty Weapon (the weapon of their choosing; the weapon the most excel at using) to give it an extra OOMPH! in smiting their foes. However, they wear armor and are considerably slower than swordsman. Surprisingly, since they're conduits of Divine energy, Paladins are capable of regenerating their wounds (though they can't regrow limbs or any more than 35% of their organs); because of this healing factor, they're immune to disease and infection.
Saboteur- Masters of Sabotage and Espionage, Saboteurs are quite tricky. They fill in the role of sneaks, capable of breaking into houses and finding shady people to purchase "rare" and "dangerous" wares from. Saboteurs have a cloak-and-dagger role, though they're also handy scouts and can use ranged-weapons with much ease; though daggers work just as well for them. Regardless of their extraordinary acting skills and their amazing charisma, they're quite fragile and tend not to do well in battle.

Joker- They are people who pick up oddjobs and try to fill in a particularly necessary slot. They are Swordsmen, Mancers, Healers, Paladins, and Saboteurs. Despite being able to fill in a Mancers role, they are not, by nature, Mancers. They are simply "warlocks"; meaning, they sell their soul to a Devil for power (usually infernal magicks). In this sense, they are imbued with Infernal energy, the darker equivalent of Divine energy, which allows them to fill in the role of a Paladin. They can also use swords with uncanny ability. As well, Jokers learn some first-aid to fill in the role of a Healer. By nature, they can also be saboteurs depending on their situation. Despite their all-around talents, they are considerably inferior to every other class. This is because they concentrate on versatility rather than honing their skills in a particular skill. In a straight competition of skill, the Joker will ultimately lose; however, because a Joker is so versatile, they are renowned to be quite flexible with their thinking.

Nevertheless, they are soulless and have a much shorter lifespan.

Well, after being gone for so long and after my second brief disappearance, I finally decided I was done hiding in the shadows and wanted to get myself out there. I thoroughly enjoy this place and I wish I knew all of you. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone. That is what this fic is about, actually: finding new friends and doing my best to help out, as well as becoming a part of this wonderful family.

Not that I'm desperate or envious or anything...

    The Sessamaru Glossary
    • KHV- Also known as "KHV City"; a cozy, chillaxed Forum.
    • The Web- the equivalent of Earth; just a little ways away from planet RL.
    • Avatar- People who live on the Web/Internet (people who frequent forums). (Avatar is synonymous to "User" or "Member"; but it is also used a singular noun to describe a nomadic person who wanders from Forum to Forum and belongs to no particular Family)
    • Forums- Cities/Towns found on the Web.
    • Family- A group of Users/Members/Avatars who settle in/on a particular Forum.
    • NPC- A fictitious entity who resides on the Forum and is simply there for plot purposes... also, for breaking the Fourth Wall. Because it's fun.
    • ID- Also known as a User ID (or Member ID), revealing personal information for Users/Avatars/Members.

    Chapter I
Sess returned to KHV after a few years. It had changed rapidly, and it was all new to the once regular member. Sess was a medium-height youth with long silver hair, pale skin, green eyes, a pair of wolf ears, a furry tail, and wore blue jeans, boots, a white t-shirt, and a long mid-back length brown coat made of leather. This wasn't his usual attire, but he wanted to fit in. He sighed, slightly annoyed. KHV was covered in mist and every time Sess stared at the thinly-veiled city of KHV, it would seem to avoid him of its own volition, always moving slightly to the left. Or right. He didn't know anymore. Hell, nothing made sense anymore.

Sess shook his head and wandered to the city. "Wonderful... I'm looking like a newb again," he muttered sarcastically, trying to ignore his rejuvenated appearance. Like everyone else on the Web, the nexus of knowledge, wisdom, and other things (some that are like eldritch horrors from beyond time and space), he was an avatar, a self-aware entity that finally took shape on the Internet, a planet just a little ways off from Planet RL (which was notorious for being Hell). His appearance matched that of his personality; lonesome, snarky, intelligent, and "mildly" narcissistic. "I swear, it's like this every time I leave a Forum." He continued, growing nearer and nearer the city. "I look like a little man-cub and I have to live in another forum in order to look... well... god-like. Someone of importance. Someone who--- oh look, a bakery!" Sess exlaimed as he entered the city, smelling a freshly baked apple pie from a nearby building. He ran into the bakery and found its residence to be, quickly literally, shadows. Even all the delicacies lacked physical substance, and this made Sess slightly unnerved.

"Oh joy," he grumbled. "Imaginary pie... my favorite."

From the back appeared a less shadowy resident (though still slightly intangible, but with some color rather than a mild-black/grey tone) who smiled a barely visible smile. "Ah, hello there!" He said, his appearance stocky and his belly slightly put-out. "What can I do ya for?"

Sess looked at him, bewildered. "Mind telling me what's going on?"

"What do ya mean?" The owner asked, bemused.

"Why is the city covered in mist? Why is everything here so... shady." The NPC cocked his head. "Not that I'm saying it's suspicious!" Sess added hurriedly. "But rather, you're all practically like living shadows. I can barely see you!"

The owner remained silent for a little bit, tapping a somewhat-shadowy finger against his somewhat-shadowy chin. After a moment of silence, the man nodded his head and his grin grew wider. "Why, it's because you're new!"

"New?!" Sess asked skeptically. "What do you mean, 'new'?! I was here four years ago! FOUR YEARS AGO!!! I even have my ID to prove it!" Quickly, the youth began digging into his pockets in search for the ID. He found it in his wallet and revealed it to the NPC. "See?"

The man looked it over and "hrm'ed", analyzing the credentials. "Yes, I see... well, you see, this expired. After dropping off the face of KHV for more than a year, and with little experience outside of the Roleplaying Arena, the ID expired and, therefore, you're new."

"Th-that's not fair!" Sess barked incredulously, glowering at the man. "How do I get a new one?"

The man shrugged. "If anything, just explore. Find new Users to befriend, partake in more interesting topics, and find a niche for yourself, I suppose. Get out of your shell."

"Don't you judge me, old timer!" The ill-tempered youth growled, preparing to pounce over the counter. Unfortunately, his stomach growled and he collapsed onto the floor. The entire place was full of laughter.

Oh goody... this is a great first impression. Why, if only I had eaten before I got here. Curse you, hunger! You won this round, but tomorrow... I'm kicking your arse into the next dimension. And I don't mean the fourth dimension either. Oh no, you're going to get a front row seat to the six-to-the-sixth-power dimension! Sess thought, crawling his way out of the bakery.

    Prologue
    The Sins of Enigma

Doctor Schrodinger smiled madly as he made his way towards the nine recuperation tanks, wherein nine individuals were submerged in suspended animation. The life support systems were united under one super computer, which only he had access to. Doctor Schrodinger wasn't a very tall man, only reaching four-foot-seven-inches in height. He was obese and had a crown of grey hair that fell to the top of his pelvis. His skin was pale and his lips, though grey, were hidden by his somewhat-darker grey mustache. He was missing several teeth, but the ones he had were shark-like. He wore glasses whose lenses were a dark silver-blue, hiding his otherwise mismatched eyes. His brows were thick and partially brushed across his glasses. Schrodinger even wore a white lab coat with a pair of blue latex gloves. The long white coat hid his bulbous body, making him appear as though he were gliding.

He approached the dark-screened computer, putting in a key in one of its hidden panels and turning it. When the screen revealed the username/password command box, the background remaining black while the Arial font proved to be green, he quickly typed in both username and password with surprising dexterity, precision, and speed. The screen went blank again, the black light fading into true darkness, for the next few milliseconds. It was hardly noticeable. The screen reappeared with a matrix of coding, revealing every known and unknown language. However, an error box appeared, the language alien. The mad scientist smiled wickedly as he hunted through his pockets for a short moment, and revealing a miniature UMD disc. The error box, revealed to be a front, faded and more windows appeared in a box of code; difficult to decipher and nearly impossible for any mortal to decipher. With a cough, the good doctor reached into his coat and brought out a USB stick, driving it into the super computers port. Those boxes vanished, too.

Nothing else appeared on the screen, but Schrodinger typed away. The main matrix of the computer reflected off his glasses. Eventually, the matrix broke apart, ceasing its virtual existence. The desktop turned from black light to ocean blue, revealing an otherworldly OS. A grey box appeared, commanding in the Universal Tongue: Please insert data...

Doctor Schrodinger fished around his his pockets again, pulling out a strange, small, and oblong object made of alien material; though it closely resembled a mix of jade, obsidian, and titanium. He left his chair and knelt down, moving around similarly shaped panels that were unnoticeable to anyone who wasn't the Head Scientist of this dead world, like Schrodinger. Often playing with the puzzle long enough, he inserted the thin object. It fit perfectly in the empty space, though it didn't match the chrome of the super computer.

Immediately, the box vanished and the blue screen revealed a single file. It was dubbed SIN. He ran his hand over a globe that was inserted into the computer's board, beneath the hundreds of flashing keys. The on-screen mouse moved towards the file and clicked a key that didn't flash beneath the rolling-mouse. A small rectangular window opened, asking for a password. He inserted it with the same nimbleness as before. It vanished but another window asking the same question. He inserted yet another password. A third window opened, and he repeated his previous action. Finally, the File Window opened; though there was nothing in it. At first. After a few short breaths, dozens of other windows opened up, revealing different things; formulas, models, code, encrypted secrets, etc. When the windows were all finished opening up, nine particular windows opened to reveal vital signs. The names were, of course, in an alien script. After a moment of analysis, Schrodinger's grin became a full blow Cheshire smile, laughter erupting from his flabby throat.

The sickly sound filled the near-darkness of the subterranean complex...

    Chapter I
    Welcome to the Jungle

In the crystal balls, televisions, holograms, and other visual devices of the various worlds appeared an image of a barren world. Above, the skies were blood red, the clouds black, and the sun sickly pale; below, the trees and grass were cast in eternal shadows. The trees were gnarled and daunting, having leaves the color of midnight. The grass was lively in its dark, sanguine form, the blades standing up straight; though they appeared wicked sharp. A high-pitched voice could be heard as the visuals shifted from point A to point B and so on.

"Welcome to the Scarlet Carnival," the voice began. "After a long year of waiting, we have returned for a new season. This season, we have gathered the most powerful, the most dangerous individuals from within the Omniverse! Like our previous seasons, they will fight for the peace of your worlds. I assure you, they will fight to the death. Or, if they become boring... they'll fight until someone gets incapacitated." The voice went on in a nonchalant manner. The images on the otherworldly visual devices shifted to the sky, where many, many falling stars fell towards the planet's surface.

"There are our stars now," the voice remarked, with some ironic glee to it. "This season, they will have to fight their way to the arena, to survive the new dangers of the otherwise dead world. Eliminating the competition at this stage is also optional. They are all as mortal as ants! Their powers, magic, abilities... it is all suppressed and they are forced to rely on their strength, wit, and instincts to survive."

The voice's final words faded away as the falling of over one-hundred stars were the focus of the many, many visual devices thrown about the region.

    *******

The floating cameras, shaped like bulky disks with a large red eye, analyzed the pin-code on each falling capsule, allowing them to connect to a specific world's network; whether it was a magical link, a technological link, or a psychological link, it didn't matter. Once connected, the otherworlders were able to watch their kin and see if they will do them proud. Just the very idea of it made them sick with estranged glee.

    *******

The pods landed gently and the doors opened, releasing the cryogenic gas that made the "Champions" slumber for so long. As soon as the gas fled the pods, they would awaken to find themselves on a strange world that they have seen on their TVs, computers, crystal balls, holographic generators... and so on. However, they would notice something amiss. They weren't at the arena, which was a monumental ziggurat surrounding by giant walls and towers of white, alien material. They were in the wilderness, far, far away from the bloodletting pyramid. However, though they were miles away, they could still see the huge ziggurat and the four tall towers.

Alright, first of all, I am sick... so I'm sorry to everyone who I said I would post in their RPs (my other RP especially) Monday. It's now Wednesday. I'm still sick. I can't sleep and I only have one thing stuck on my mind. This RP. As a favor (and I'll totally be in anyone's debt if I am in their RP), please read through this thoroughly and give it enough consideration to join. This RP wouldn't stop harassing me and I have so many excess ideas (or rejected characters, plots, etc) that I decided to build this junkyard RP just so I can get some peace, quiet, and sleep. Lots and lots of sleep.

    So without further ado...

    ...the PLOT...

After years upon years of technological evolution throughout the Omniverse, an infinite expanse of worlds that was once made up of the Nihilverse (a form of verse where nothing existed save for a blank sheet of infinity), enough worlds were able to harmonize and reach a state of peace and tranquility that banished the idea of war with others outside of their own world. However, this tranquility became unstable in a matter of centuries due to the unrest of all sentient creatures. The instinctual need for bloodlust, conquest, and purpose threatened the peace. Because of this, a shady organization called Enigma stepped forth and proposed a sort of contract that televised a gruesome tournament on a Dead World. An agreement had been reached and Enigma legally held the rights of all known and unknown lifeforms. Because of this, randomly selected people of any race, gender, species, sub-species, etc, were forced to fight each other. The winner of the tournament was to gain absolute power plus a bonus prize.

Over the past few decades, with an increase of ratings due to the increase of brutality, no one had won. This raised questions throughout the omniverse, but no one had confronted Enigma; despite being a small organization and outnumbered by many, many worlds, Enigma seemed to possess a devastating power that kept the entire Omniverse on a leash. Literally and metaphorically omnipotent, Enigma continued the tournaments as their revenue increased, thus making them a powerful force behind economic. This made them a juggernaut, and the political leaders of the omniverse were in despair. The residents were constantly afraid of being selected, despite hypocritically enjoying the bloodletting themselves. Each world was constantly reminded that they were insignificant and powerless before Enigma as the promise of "absolute power" was constantly ripped out of the hands of each participant as they died by the hands of the representatives of Enigma.

To the dismay of all, the show goes on. It serves the purpose of a macabre peace, but is peace truly worth it if the many were oppressed by such a tiny, insignificant organization?

As you can see, I gave little details about the tournament itself and focused on the current status of the Omniverse. There are a lot of reasons, and I'm sure you're all smart enough to make an accurate deduction as to why. Nevertheless, we'll continue on through and focus on...

    ...the TOURNAMENT...

The tournament is hosted by the mysterious head of Enigma, who often resides in shadows and never introduces himself to the public. Instead, he is introduced and referenced, often, by an eccentric man by the name of Adham Qisem. Adham Qisem is seen as the sardonic overseer of the tournament, making sure things progress as they should. If not, he would be forced to give the competitors some... incentive.

The tournament, known as the Scarlet Carnival (named solely for its bloodshed, shown as a morbid form of entertainment), takes place atop an ancient ziggurat, which is far larger than any known step pyramid in existence. Surrounding the ziggurat is seemingly new architecture from the modern day Omniverse, which was quite unique in the fact it blended together the many, many cultures that encompassed it. These were the "stands" where the audience watched the battles far above them upon monitors... the higher up the audience, the wealthier they were and the less likely they would need a monitor. However, at the very top of this horse-shoe shaped building was where the competitors would watch the battles. This precise area of the "stands" (which is inaccurate for it's simply a building with seats and monitors) allows no one, not even the most wealthiest of in the Omniverse, to access the chamber (unless, they, themselves, are participants). The room is well-furnished and comfortable, with a giant glass screen giving clear, crystal vision to the fight ahead (for this precise room is perfectly parallel to the pyramid's flat top).

The competitors really have no choice but to fight, and it's usually a game of kill or be killed. The competitors wear a thorn bracelet that digs into the flesh should they refuse to fight, and further more it releases an electric shock as incentive, successfully activating the body's natural ability to produce adrenaline. The thorn bracelet seems to be more magical than technological and it is known to be impossible to remove. The bracelet also limits the output of one's innate abilities, such as magic or natural skill, thus making them far more weaker than they were prior to the tournament. This power reduction increases difficulty, and should one succeed in a fight, the bracelet restores the power by a small, but noticeable amount.

Victories tend to be determined by either kills or KOs, depending on the moral compass or the determination of competitors. The losers who survive are said to return home, but whether or not this is true is unknown. As mentioned before, the tournament is televised. Because of this, the skies are full of aircraft and a reporter and cameraman witness the fight up close. The reporter is also the announcer, and she would often tell them to begin. Because of the need for the announcer/reporter and cameraman, there's a barrier that boxes in the combatants, this also cuts off their escape even if they have a high-jump. The barrier is impenetrable and unbreakable, and it is high voltage. Anyone who tries to escape becomes barbeque for the side-shows.

Thankfully, there are rules that are explained and demonstrated to the combatants as to keep things nice and orderly.

It's difficult to go into detail about the tournament, but I'll explain this either in the RP (when I'm not sick) or in PMs (send me questions and I'll answer them... and add them to the FAQ should it come to it). Ah well... now, onto...

    ...the Home Rules...

    1) No Godmodding
    2) NO GODMODDING
    3) OC's only, please.
    4) Since PvP is possible, I will say "Do not kill off that person's character with their and my permission". I would also like to add that damage will be calculated by me as to stray away from godmodding. So if you continuously go unpunished throughout a match without a viable reason, I will be forced to tell you to edit your post. Otherwise, I will kick you out for brushing too close to the first two Rules.
    5) You can either create your own race or use races from any source... so long as you ask me first. I may have questions.
    6) Do not, and I repeat, DO NOT try and manipulate MY rules. MY rules are in effect for a reason; I'm pretty laid back, but if you're consistently arguing with me and manipulating my rules to your whim, I will be forced to kick you out of my RP. I also won't hesitate to bring in a mod if it comes to it.
    7) Listen to the GM (moi). This rule is sacred. Even if the GM is wrong, the GM, by default, is ALWAYS right.
    8) Follow the Roleplaying Arena rules, too.
    9) Mind your cursing. If your character cusses too much, I'll be forced to ask you to edit. Remember, there are younger players here. (And don't you kids sass me, or I'll have to get my slapstick, dammit!)
    10) Follow the other rules, and you'll be fine.
    11) This RP is purely non-canon to any/all original works, meaning if you want to use a character from any currently active RPs (which involve OCs), I'll allow it.
    12) I will severely limit abilities and their capacities; I also do not want firearms or any projectile weaponry. This tournament is purely melee; though pragmatism (such as throwing a melee weapon or shoe) is accepted, just to keep the quasi-realism going.
    13) This RP is rated PG-13; it possesses potential blood and gore, some crude language, and some sexual themes (for the benefit of the RPers if they wish to have a romance to form; please refrain from anything too graphic, folks). (Nudity is prohibited; anything crude or disturbing posted (especially without my consent) is a one-way ticket to being booted).

I'm not 100% sure if these rules are good or not, but if you all have questions or suggestions, lemme know. Again, sick me is a semi-operational me. Almost done, now we just need to review...

    ...the Tournament Rules...

    1) Do not attempt to escape
    2) Do not disobey your rightful duty
    3) All is fair, love and war (anything goes)
    4) Victories are decided purely by besting the opponent. Kill them, incapacitate them, or make them surrender. If you cannot do either of these, then you have already lost.

That's quite lame for rules, but... really. This is a tournament based on survival, so you can't really do much in terms of rules '>.>

    Now for your favorite part...

(The OOC is still accepting people! Please join if you're interested!)

The students were all assembled for their semester at SIGMA, their new home and a place to learn further of their abilities and talents. The school was unlike anything they could ever have imagined or even believe have existed. It was like a labyrinthine castle, everything was maze-like and vast beyond their wildest dreams... or nightmares. However, they were all able to find their first class... Magic 101. It was a class hosted by Professor Faust, infamously known for his intelligence. Infamously because it was the sort of genius that could only be found in a madman. Or so rumors go.

Nevertheless, he had not arrived, nor had any of the new students met him. Yet.

The classroom itself was large, with thirteen tiers with thirty-six steep steps. The tiers were set in a convex-manner, curving inward as proper. Like an arch. There were desks aplenty... and they all surrounded the main floor of the room in a proper manner for all to look upon the professor should he enter and his large blackboard. His desk was even set a proper five-feet away from the blackboard, the giving plenty of room for the professor to walk behind his desk-and-chair with much ease. The blackboard itself dwarfed the room and its tiers. There were three entry-ways. The first two were on the base floor, on opposing sides (one on the left, the other on the right). Then, there was one double-door at the top tier in the center, the diving point of the room for all to walk freely... if they were in a single-file line.

Nevertheless, the bell rang... but there was plenty of time for the students to chat among themselves before the professor arrived to start the class. Five minutes before the next bell.

Howdy, folks. First of all, I could've sworn I already did one of these. Secondly, for those who know me, I'm back. I'm Sessamaru (you can just call me Sess for short). I joined here in May of 2008, and I spent most of my time in the Roleplay section. Yes, yes, I'm lame '>.>

I originally came to these forums while trying to make a KH amv. Turned out the forums was awesome and cool, so I stayed. I rarely ventured outside of the roleplaying area, however... ah well. I'll try and be more diverse this time around.

Well, this is my hello. Dunno what else to say. Again, it's a pleasure being here.

Howdy, folks and welcome to the OOC of "The Eternal Quest". Some of you may know me (or simply remember me), others may not and may scoff at this... backwater idea (as well as my intrusion). It's been a while, and before I even begin with anything concerning this RP, I will reintroduce myself. I'm Sessamaru and I travel the interwebs for a place to stay. I stayed here for a few months before I moved on to some other place (which felt more familiar to me than here). I apologize to all my friends (if they're still here) for leaving without saying anything.

I have returned here with some goodies. In my interwebs travel, I have found enlightenment (even through some hardships) and I have returned with such knowledge that those who enjoy writing will surely find this gift useful and give them a greater sense of depth and pride. However, this gift is optional.

But, I'm getting off topic here... I have returned in search of a new home. A place where I will not get bored and will often speak to others when no others are around to speak to.

Nevertheless, I apologize for this weird syntax and this will be the first and perhaps only time you all will read my message in such a weird, formal way... unless I am wanting to be sarcastic and playful in the OOC.

    Enjoy the RP ^^"

As it goes, this RP has no definite story... yet. The reason is, is because that is how I designed it. I'm tired of mapping things out and rail-roading players. So, I'm going old school. Have people start from scratch. As it appears, you're all going to school... with special privileges. I'll be generous and spoil you with my intentions. You're all still taking classes, but you already know a decent amount to fend for yourselves. So, you'll be given missions. These missions can lead to one thing or another, or just be straight forward, depending on my mood. The story is entirely up to you, though. You don't have to go straight to the mission and you can all banter amongst yourselves (so long as some progress through the mission is made). When I grow bored, or feel as if you're all experienced enough, I may or may not throw an actual, important story-event your way.

Ironically, everything you do in this RP reflects the story's outcome. Then again, I might have lied. Maybe there is a story. We can never be too sure. Nevertheless, each mission has its own story-branch that may or may not intertwine with the primary story. So, altogether, it's a collection of stories.

I guess it's the equivalent to an anime in that regard. Funny... I always see this idea as an anime or manga.

Nevertheless, I spoiled you all a bit too much. Now... onward to useful information.

    11. Have fun.

She depended on her garden to bring her happiness and comfort her during lonely times. As time passed, she devolved a strong love for nature and animals and a general dislike of the ones who ruined them. She was quiet and kept to herself there, not having much experience in communication.

Now that she's older, she finds that she is still this way in most regards. But she tries to open up to people. She doesn't like revealing much about her past, but she doesn't mind when it makes sense to, or see feels the person is deserving.
Personality: Keywords; Passive but loyal to her friends. She doesn't really like confrontation, but she will put up with it if she must. Username: Marushi

    Gender: Male
    Age: 17
    Magic: Geomancy
    Specialization: CQC
    Appearance:
Background: Zac was the secret son of one of history's most hated Necromancers, a Dark Sorceress named Pamela. She had been hiding for many years, with a secret identity, moving whenever people started to get suspicious. After she gave birth to him, she hid him from the world, because she knew that as the son of a necromancer, he would be hated and feared, possibly even killed. She raised him until he was four and her crimes caught up to her. Her location was discovered by the authorities and they came to capture her. She gave herself up before they could find him, and told him to run as fast and as far away as he could, and to never tell anyone about her. So he ran away and was found by a kindly traveler who took him to an orphanage, where he grew up until he was old enough to go to school. The blood of his mother runs through his veins, and magic comes easily to him, but he lives in fear that he will be found out, or worse, he will end up like his mother, so he uses his magic only in emergencies, believing that if he relies too heavily on magic, he will be unable to draw the line between good and evil.
Personality: Although he has a sense of humor and an all around fun personality, fear of revealing his past keeps him quiet and distant, thus earning himself the reputation of being stuck up and rude. He cares about people and has a group of "friends" that he watches out for secretly, but has never spoken to. If anything happened to one of these people, he would do anything to protect them or avenge them, and although it's his choice that seperates him from people, he feels keenly the sting of being friendless.
Equipment: His sword, (in pic above) is something he made himself in his spare time, and he takes good care of it. He never enhanced it with any magic, but he unwittingly poured a bit of himself into it, and has a sort of special connection to it. He named it Elengûl, and wields it expertly.
Other: [Optional] His tattoo of the flames were to hide a strange birthmark he had on his arm, a pure black star. He thinks it might be a sign of his dark blood, and so covered over it with the fire.
