Between himself and the girl he now knew as Lexi, they would have easily fended off the trio of trumpets. Brass horns and a guitar. The only thing that could have been added to make a more perfect jazz ensemble was a drummer...and maybe, just maybe, a singer with just the right voice. An alto perhaps. Though the musicians who joined them did not fit that bill, they seemed to be a talented bunch. Watching as the last trumpeteer fled with his tail between his legs Terry instinctively went make to muting his guitar with his right hand and immediately ran through the chromatic scale as he looked at the others. "It's a shame. They're giving trumpeteers a bad name." Terry glanced from Lexi to the other girl, Ari, and smiled. "No need to give thanks. I liked your style and three-on-one is hardly fair. You know..." He chewed on his lip as he recalled a story. "This reminds me of a situation almost exactly like this. Two guitarists and a bassist were-" He cut himself short realizing he had not even introduced himself. "The name's Novak. Terry Novak. Nice to meet you Miss Coda. And Ari." He nodded towards both of them. "I'd shake your hands but..." He looked down at his instrument. "Rain check?"
I'll make this quick. I have two RP ideas I want to try out but I don't have time to make both and if I do make one, I might not want to run it alone. Plenty of locked threads in the original section but I at least want to try and give it one active thread with some help. AUTOBOTS. ROLL OUT. Idea 1: Superheroes. In the future, people are born with powers. An existing world government(or probably just the UN) is quick to adapt to changing times and makes many laws and regulations regarding "powereds". One of which being that anyone born with powers must have a chip implanted to inhibit their powers to a minimal level. The only way to access their full power is through a registration process leading to a "Hero license" in order to gain a super suit(WHERE'S MY SUPERSUIT?) that will allow for full use of their powers so long as it is being worn. Of course, the license requires powers to be used for the good of the community. Overall, it's a bit more of a realistic take on superpowered people. With some comic book flair of course because, come one, super powers! Inspired by a cyoa game/short novel series called Heroes Rise. Idea 2: Final Fantasy inspired. Admittedly, I have less of a clear idea of where to go on this one. @Boy Wonder gave me the idea of making something that goes along the lines of... People are born under "signs". Astrological but rather than being entirely irrelevant they would determine the innate magic powers people would possess. Instead of having things like a "gemini" or "leo" there would be things like "Ifrit" or "Shiva". As per Final Fantasy convention, there would be crystals and an organized religion of sorts protecting them. One person from this religion would be designated to a crystal. One per crystal. If one were to die, their title and bond to that crystal would pass on to the next person designated to be that crystal's guardian. If all in their line die, the crystal would release a beast being contained within that would wreak havoc. If all of them die, then...well I'm sure you catch my drift. Naturally, there would be a faction dedicated to seeing these beasts set free for what they believe to be noble reasons.
Step 6.
Step 3. ????
As warm and beautiful as the nylon strings sounded Terry only wished he could have been allowed to use his other guitar for the entire performance. He had brought it too within his case. In fact, finding a case that could hold both guitars was more difficult than-- "You! Girl with the red hat!" Without even stopping his run of the diminished scale, he looked around for the source of the shout. It sounded aggressive. It only took him a second to find the girl with the bright red hat who was being shouted at. This was not the first time he had seen people pick a fight at one of these events but normally there was some sort of provocation. Like woodwind versus brass instruments or unconventional guitars versus a normal setup(the only fight which Terry willingly participated...and won). This time, he couldn't tell why the fight had started. A trombone versus...trumpets? Did the girl bump interrupt their practice session or were they really that mean-spirited? Despite being outnumbered the girl managed to hold them off. Intrigued, Terry placed his guitar back in its case section and watched the brassists. After they had their fun with a simple scale there was a long pause of tense silence. He looked down for a moment to snap his case shut and turn it on its side, leaving the leather handle sticking up in the air. As he began to look back up at the scene the quartet had just began to build up volume, swelling into an improvised song with a jazz feel to it. It was just begging for some guitar accompaniment. His fingers itching, Terry turned the case on its other side to reveal the other guitar he had chosen to bring with him. It was one of his most prized possessions. Terry's eight string. With a moment's preparation he rushed over to the girl's side. He could hardly join the trumpeteers(totally a word) after them ganging up on her. "Sorry if I ruin your groove but I can't help myself. Jazz is fun." With no words of introduction, he turned towards the trumpet players and began playing some slick super silky-smooth kool riffs...man.
Tabata, Type-0 and XV's director, did an AMA(ask me anything) on Reddit and...well nothing too new was said but there's just a lot of interesting stuff that everyone should go read. Tabata's such a great guy. He did confirm that there are a few added unlockable scenes and new costumes available for the game. Source: Gematsu
Being able to jump and the "Phantom Sword" (the sword Noctis has been seen the most with that generates that magical shield) are confirmed to be in the game and demo. No official date on the demo though. Also the target framerate is 30fps. Lots more from Tabata at the link below. Dude's the best director ever. Source: Gematsu
Tugging at his collar, Terry did his best to make himself comfortable on his spot on the fountain. Though the celebration was admittedly quite grand, it lost its luster the hundredth-or-so time he walked through this area. Quadrille was almost a second home to him with how much time he had spent here. Once more he tugged at his collar, not because he was unaccustomed to dressing up, but instead due to his nerves. It wasn't as if he had not performed for a crowd before but this was for a two-hundredth anniversary...it was more important than any other event he had been a part of. He was just one of twenty. He pulled his classical guitar out of its case feeling that it would be the only thing to make him feel comfortable this evening. Terry pressed the palm of his right hand against all six strings over the sound hole and positioned his left just over the first fret. With the strings muted he began pressing his fingers down at different frets across the strings, five at a time, to warm up by changing his fingerings to various chords. "C sharp dominant seventh...D sharp minor add nine...F minor major seventh..." Upon coming across some of the more bizarre fingerings he would pause and frown as he mulled over what the proper name for a chord would be. Sometimes the name would be exceedingly long but given that it was nothing more than a stretching exercise he did not have to worry about using these nigh-useless chords. This was not the time nor place to start experimenting. Terry tapped his foot as he switched his routine from chords to running scales. Feeling much more comfortable with this, he looked away from the fingerboard to watch the other musicians go about their business. He squinted, noticing a trio of violinists intently practicing a piece for tonight's performance. They were pretty easy to recognize from the stern looks of concentration on their faces. It was a shame they were playing too quietly for him to hear. He assumed it must have been because they wanted to keep it a surprise for everyone else attending. He shook his head and smiled to himself finally feeling at ease. Maybe things wouldn't be so bad after all.
Spoiler In terms of abilities and stats, Machina's one of the best characters in the game. Plus "sights" are easy to hit with him and that's how you do the majority of damage against a lot of enemies. ...But he does become a l'Cie. You don't get to do much with that though.
So far the only new info from that interview is that there'll be no l'Cie in XV. A little disappointing considering how awesome and ridiculously powerful they are in Type-0(seriously, XIII l'Cie are nothing compared to Type-0's). I'm wondering if summons will retain their size(looking at you Leviathan) once you beat them and gain them a summon(that's how you get them in XV). Seriously doubt they'll be turned into cutscenes and deal damage once said scene is over. Maybe it'll be a one-shot sort of deal? Maybe they'll be a party member for a limited time? Or maybe we'll gain full control like in Type-0...but that seems unlikely given the scale.
For those getting the game and want to know a bit more about the combat system, this trailer does a pretty good job at covering all the basics: A few things to add that aren't mentioned: 1. There's more attack spells than Fire, Thunder, and Blizzard. There's variations of those three as well that can be equipped(i.e. a short-ranged Blizzard spell that deals a lot of damage or a long-ranged version). 2. There's a few variations of summons. They're just skin changes with altered stats though. 3. Machina's the best.
Type-0 is the only one seemingly built for this. Magical school. Big cast of students. Deep lore. Plus an anime could be considered canon considering the game's...circumstances.
I like thinking of cooking as any time you're using a stove. Baking is with the oven. Microwaving or "nuking" is with a microwave. Using a grill is grilling obviously. Using a fire? ...I guess that's roasting? If you're using none of those then you're just preparing food. Though I suppose you could use "cooking" for anytime you're heating food. It's technically correct.
Hm. I'd suppose it is dying in order to make way for Metal but I don't pay enough attention to mainstream music(or the radio for that matter) to know. Rock has rarely ever been the most impressive or creative of its branch of music. Compared to its younger and more hardcore brother Metal and its subgenres Rock just pales in comparison. Putting aside my bias(is it bias if it's true? METAL>ROCK ^m^), I don't think it's dying. Rock's just never been as popular as Pop. I know, it's unpleasant to say that but it's true. If people are complaining about how Rock hasn't had its "this generation's Hendrix" or "Page" or that all of it sounds the same then it's time to switch genres. There's plenty of guitarists nowadays that completely outclass those that came before them. Progressive Metal master race.
WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO SUPERMAN
I love how your manager calls you Boy Wonder. Is it because you wear those colorful tights or because you spend time with a much larger brooding man in dark tights?
Maybe. I don't remember there ever being that big of a group of Black Rangers in one place. Still amusing.
Carmageddon?
So the car won't be in the demo. It'll be in the game but Tabata doesn't want to thrust too many changes to longtime Final Fantasy fans right away with the demo. Source: Polygon
