Ok I was ok about Sora not being Keybalde Master but his reaction was just not human. He was a bit too happy. At least feel a little sad even though you had it coming Sora then be happy later after a little talk with Mickey, Riku or even Kairi. I actually wanted to strangle Sora because he didn't really took it seriously which made it sound like all that hard work the players put in were for nothing.

    My reaction....
Me: Oh that sucks... I kinda read about that back in Mar-
Sora: OMG Im so happy for you! :D
    ME: What...?
    *after credits*
Me: Sora.... I hate you now.... I wish Lea didn't stop Master Xehanort....

    My reaction to secret ending.
Me: *sigh* might as well... *downloads*
    *Kairi shows up*
    Me: Ohhh shi- o_o

So yeah.... I dont like Sora anymore because of how he reacted even though he knew it would happen. Sora just isn't the Sora I thought I knew anymore. Im actually glad I dont own a 3DS and the game or I would have thrown my 3DS out my window which would have made it fall in my pool if I imported the Japanese version. Thank you Spirit Camera for not disappointing me with your ending

Dose anyone feel this way? Or maybe Im just the only one. I most likely am.

I actually think it has the potential to be some phenomenal, and much needed, character development for Sora. He's always been that kind of "happy go lucky" kid, nothing really seems to faze him. He'll go through something really damaging and powerful, all of it with a smile. And with the end of Dream Drop Distance, you are kind of left feeling like "Sora, how are you not upset?"

But perhaps that's his character. First and foremost, we know he always puts his friends before himself. He, in a way, killed himself to free Kairi (even though he was brought back, he had no way of knowing that would happen at the time); at the end of Kingdom Hearts, he chooses not to go home with Kairi but to continue searching for Riku; in Chain of Memories, he remains dedicated to Naminé even after she tells him of the wrong she's done, and the list goes on.

Secondly, it is kind of inhuman the way he can react to things. But putting up that happy face and pretending everything is alright may be a defense mechanism for him. I have faith that there's more to it than Sora simply being a shallow (in terms of character depth) character.

I agree. I mean, if I could play as Roxas for the rest of the series, awesome. I would not complain. It would be great for me. But I think the series kinda NEEDS Sora. Remember in KH2 how Yen Sid told him that he is the "Key who connects everything?" To scrap him would mean scrapping the guy who's the hero of the KH Universe.

Okay, I understand that. I found it strange too. Definitely weird. But he wasn't not taking it seriously, right? I mean, right before the end credits, they had that conversation before he hops into the dream world and he says,
"Well, I did doze off...I just have some stuff to take care of."

So I think he's probably still aiming to be a Keyblade Master, he's just not taking it so hard as maybe someone else would.

Eh I was alright with it. Still can't get over what Sora was wearing when Riku woke up. That was hilarious. The game though is mostly about Riku.

Well, it's Sora. He's not a negative kind of guy. Rather than focusing on how he lost, he was focusing on that Riku had succeeded. Sora's an optimist, what can i say?

I wasn't surprised that Sora didn't pass and best friends are happy for those who did.

In my eyes he's already a keyblade master do to the fact he's saved the worlds twice now!

Yin Sid just needs to make it official.

One thing that I absolutely love about Sora is his selflessness. I mean, that kid runs all over the worlds, rescuing people in distress, changing lives, and even sacrificing his own heart for the good of others. To me, the end of Dream Drop Distance illistrated this selflessness really well. Rather than being upset at not being named a Keyblade master, Sora shows excitement for Riku. He's not thinking about his own disappointment because he's too busy thinking about his best friend's feelings. He wants to congratulate Riku in his moment of glory.

I agree that Dream Drop Distance was mostly about Riku, as well. It was the game where he finally seemed to conquer (or at least subdue) his darkness. The climax leaves me in no doubt that the developers intended for Riku to get the spotlight for this one.

Furthermore, I believe that Sora knows his own heart, and he doesn't need to pass a "Mark of Mastery" exam in order to believe in himself. He knows that he has the makings of a Keyblade Master, whereas Riku obviously had some serious self-doubts. For this reason, Riku's passing the exam was almost like a self-affirmation for his character.

I don't believe that Sora has given up striving to be an "official" Keyblade Master. On the contrary, I wouldn't be suprised if that's part of the plot for KH3.

To be honest, I have to agree with Shikou. Mainly because one of the parts I love the most about Kingdom Hearts II is when Sora and Riku are stuck in the realm of darkness and they have a little talk that's all about character development and their relationship.

In that moment we learn that yes, they did feel somewhat jealous of each other, but that they finally overcame that and just wanted to finally return home together.

So even if Sora is all happy-go-lucky. I still find it odd that he doesn't express feeling slightly bad? Or does he? Nevertheless, we need more character coming to terms/development stuff for KH.

Yeah, I'm starting to hate Sora as well. He's just TOO happy and is probably a shallow character that won't change after KH3 except maybe a little bit. I like Riku WAY more.

The boy may be smiling but I think there is some internal depression going on inside him. Something much more that is yet to be discussed. When he talks about not being chosen by the keyblade, you can sense he has sadness about it. There is a struggle within him that is most likely going to be touched. I wouldn't be surprised if KH3 starts out with no one having any clue where Sora is. He just vanished without a trace. So a little bit of time is taken trying to find him. It would be a good way to teach any new players the controls and objective with a little Kairi "Where are you Sora". A person can only handle so much. Sora is about to break.

I can't help but agree with this. In fact, Nomura already touched upon it in 3D multiple times, though it was somewhat subtle. Apart from that there's always the issue of Ven's heart to deal with, and the fact that he saw Vanitas in that one scene in La Cite des Cloches makes me think that we'll see more of the "hurt" that Sora has to heal in future installments. On top of that, I enjoy seeing Sora suffer just a bit; it's better for character development Riku than that happy-go-luck attitude he always has.

I never liked Sora. Actually, that's a lie, I really liked him in the first game, but after, not so much. He started to become too happy, too ridiculously friendly, and far too trusting to everyone he met. To be honest, he's the ideal version of a perfect character, perfectly noble, extremely loyal, he can do no wrong, but that's where they went wrong with his character, I mean, without digging and thinking, "Hm, there may be underlying causes for why he acts this way, maybe he's got some personality disorder," he's kind of scary.

If you think about everything he's gone through, he should be super worn, tired, and skeptical of whether he really wants to throw himself into the flames yet again, but he's not, and y'know, it's a video game, he's supposed to launch himself into the deep end, right? It's just the way they did his character that makes it annoying every single time.

The very end of DDD had some slight, interesting character development though, I hope it redeems his ridiculous personality a bit.

I don't understand why someone would think it's strange for Sora to not be depressed about it. Like others said, I'm sure there's a little internal strife about everything, but I don't think that Sora hides it, I just think that the good things in life overpowers the bad things for him. Sure, a normal person, even a normal video game character (especially in RPGs) would get angry and go around smashing things and be disappointed, but this is Sora. His most redeeming quality has always been his selflessness. He'd rather see the good in everyone and focus on that over the bad. He'd rather everyone else ends up happy instead of him because that's what makes him happy (insert philosophical rant on no selfless act is selfless here). In the first game, he sacrificed himself for Kairi without a second thought at all as to what would happen to him. In CoM, despite what Namine put him through, he still trusted her because even a perceived friendship with her was worth more than the trouble she caused him. In KH2, he got on his knees and begged Saix for Kairi because **** pride, it's about friends. In BBS, he allowed (was it consciously? Not sure) Ven into his heart simply to be helpful. Sora is the epitome of the heart, in my opinion. The series portrays him as the bond between characters and as such, he's pretty much the "heart" of the series (not heart in the normal sense, but heart in the Kingdom Hearts sense). Sora knew how much Riku struggled with his inner darkness and when Riku was able to conquer it and pass the exam, Sora was so happy that he didn't care that he failed. If they both failed, Sora would be worried on what Riku would think of himself. If Sora passed and Riku failed, he would probably make an appeal for Riku. Sora's rarely thought about himself and has always thought about his friends in an almost inhuman manner. If it's so inhuman that it turns people off, then I guess that's fine, but to me, it's supposed to be an inhuman trait. In most shonen manga, the inhuman trait the hero has is his complete refusal to give in and somehow, that gives them the strength to beat the enemy. Here, it's Sora's selflessness.

I think that the intended effect was for us to connect to Sora and admire his selflessness that when he failed, we would be mad for him. Then, there'd be some epitome of we should instead respect Sora for his selflessness and we'll view him as more of a hero than we did before. Instead, it seems that some people simply stopped at the mad stage.

It's just Sora's personality--if that's what it means for him. You know what? What if it's actually Vanitas making Sora feel that way. It could be: "I'm a keyblade master? Hell yes! Now I'm going to destroy the world with the keyblade!" You might never know...
