    Hello to both veteran and novice roleplayers alike! The Roleplay Arena Workshop (or RAW for short) is a small passion project that I've decided to lead in an effort to create and complete a roleplay in the arena section. This roleplay will be relatively short and feature the ideas and concepts that the members of KH-vids.net come up with.

    How does this work?
    Great question! For one week, a discussion will be had to talk about just what kind of roleplay you'd like to see in the RPA. You suggest anything from the topic of the rolepay, to the entire feel of it. You can suggest anything as no idea is too out there! You can bring up the idea of expanding existing universes like Harry Potter or Star Wars, or you can suggest an original idea in the form of a slice of life story. The first week is to create and expand on ideas you think would make a good story to follow.

    After a week of discussion, a poll will be added to this thread. This poll will feature a large number of the suggestion roleplay ideas and members will be given a week to vote on their favorite idea. Multiple voting will be allowed, so you don't have to pick just one! Once a winner has been crowned, I will be discussing with the primary member(s) that nominated the idea to see just what kind of story they'd like to see.

    In the end, if you're idea wasn't selected as the final product; don't worry! There's always next season! This Roleplay Workshop will showcase the drive in not only keeping a roleplay alive, but keep it engaging for it's participating userbase. This little experiment is a fun way of seeing just how well a story can be crafted to the point of completion. It's a shame when so many interesting roleplay concepts die, which inspired this workshop to begin with.

    That being said, discuss away on an idea or concept you'd like to be brought to light!

    Surprised this isn't already bouncing with activity after two days. I guess I'll start us off.

    To just get the ball rolling, I will bring forward some rather cliche ideas, such as "Questing" and "Ancient Artifacts." The setting, of course, could be anything from medieval to sci-fi. The artifacts also do not necessarily have to be magical. Perhaps we could have a storyline tied into special unique weapons that the players have? It's something to think about.

    So how about it? More suggestions guys? Don't leave poor Lord Krowls out in the cold.

    I'm all about this in a sci-fi setting. Perhaps within a world with only smaller, sparse landmasses, making it necessary for those seeking treasures to venture out by sea or by sky (personally, I'm leaning towards an airship adventure). Maybe focus on the adventures of a crew of adventure-seekers and treasure hunters; alternatively something where everyone creates their own team to control.

    I like the idea of exploration in a time/place outside modern day. Something of an adventure/exploration roleplay is an idea I've always toyed around with.

    From what I've measured with the current suggestions, I've gathered that some possible scenarios;
    • Pirate-like roleplay (Sailing the seas or sky in search of boundless treasures and adventure)
    • Space Crew Exploration Roleplay (Getting a real Stark trek vibe from this idea, with it's own original charm. The crew would spend it's exploits finding new worlds, confront allies and enemies and explore the unknown)
    • Medieval Quest (An overarching adventure featuring characters of unique abilities sent on a quest to save the kingdom)

    I think going si-fi or something like that would be cool and different from what we see a lot of in the RPA. Maybe do something kinda Treasure Planet style where it is less future technology and instead have literal flying ships or sky pirate type thing going? It could be fun.

    I think that something set in the future would be fun. I played with the idea myself, but a far as plot I don't really have one at the moment. I also think something Sifi would be interesting.

    So I'm getting a lot of Space Pirate sci-fi suggestions. (A very wide concept I'd like to explore)
    I'll leave discussion open for a bit to see if another suggestion to elaborate on.

    My go-to reference point for space pirates, sci-fi and such is usually the anime Outlaw Star. Has dashed of fantasy in it as well, though.

    I do really like the ideas of the treasure planet -esque environment, as well as airship adventure. What I really like though is the idea of each player having their own team to control. It would be interesting if every character had a unique ability that would help in certain situations, or if the player had to pick from certain classes of characters. It could be a competitive Rp or one where everyone has to actively work together. Having 3 to 5 characters might be a bit much for some people though. Definitely a more advanced roleplay.

    There's also the other ideas I expressed before though along the line of other RP story concepts. Having unique weapons with ties to the story, for example. It could definitely be a magic artifact type of deal, or maybe it just has some hidden plot device, like a map. One idea that sticks out to me though is with objects that are indeed magical and they go looking for the smith who forged them, who seems to have vanished either recently or some time ago. A very fantasy setting.

    My rp ideas are very fantasy cliche, but then again I'm pretty sure that extends beyond into all my ideas, so.

    Leaving the discussion open for a few weeks, I've decided to open the poll for 3 ideas;

    Finding Relics/Mystery Roleplay
    Trying to differentiate this one from the others, so I thought I'd add in a bit of story to the mix.
    Obviously searching for these "mcguffins" are important, but their value and where they came from can also spark questions.

    Medieval Questing Roleplay
    Dungeons and Dragons in it's purest form. Being sent on an epic quest to slay a dragon or defeat a darkness.
    Classes can range from wizards, to knights, to archers to thieves. Your party will go as the plot thickens...

    Space Pirates Roleplay
    Fantasy and Technology meet in a swashbuckling space story.
    Sailing the stars to find adventure, treasure, and plenty of unfriendly faces.

    Poll will be open for 2 weeks!

    It was a somewhat difficult choice, but I cast my vote for the Space Pirates idea. I just really like the idea of doing an RP that's set in a more science fiction environment. But I'd definitely be down for elements of the other two ideas coming into play. Adventures through space could result in word catching on about relics lost about the cosmos; being out in space opens up to a variety of character builds (normal human beings, androids and cyborgs, aliens. There could even be a manner of "magic" found in beings with psychic powers.
