Hello, peeps! Welcome to PanS! I'm sure some of you have been waiting for it. This is for all of you poetic people. It's time to strut your stuff, show them who's boss, go with the flow, and show those motherf-hokkayyy enough of my lame rhymes xD

This is pretty simple, you make a poem, following the theme/subject, you post it here, and wait until a winner is chosen. You obviously have to be creative, the theme is The King.

    • The poem must rhyme. No free form this time.

    • The poem must follow the Creativity Corner's rules and regulations

    • If you wish to know the criteria used for judging, you may see it HERE

    • You may post in this thread, but please keep it spam free. Discussion is permitted

NOTES: Freestyle poetry isn't allowed in this round, but in the future it may be a requisite, or allowed. The criteria can be found by scrolling down on the link given that directs to the Faq. Please read the criteria if you want to have a good chance of winning. All three aspects must be met at least to some degree.

Ah, wonderful, I suppose I shall enter this contest with a rather simple series of stanzas sans superb amounts of creativity:

    THE AMBER KING

Amongst the hills of a sunsett'd red
Where nary a stringent soul may tread
And such lacklustre dreams – like blood hath shed
With sharp ire and blade, by Ares led
Lived the Amber King, in stagnant domain
Isolate and lone without such refrain.

Upon gilded throne, sans mind to rule
With hollow fist as his mason tool
To rule over swathes of invisible fools
Made to sate raw power, O so cruel
Lived the Amber King, in stagnant domain
Isolate and lone without such refrain.

He held only company in raged mirrors dear
Wrathful, reflective of his horrible leer
A simple hauberk to the grotesquéd fear
He held of the world, so odd and so queer
Lived the Amber King, in stagnant domain
Isolate and lone without such refrain.

Oh dear me, poetry, and rhyme too! Let's try my usual tactic of performing poetry.

A king rules his people, but at the same time, they rule him.
He chooses to do what is best for them, for if he does not, it's him they will tear limb from limb.
the people have an obligation to serve the King, as the King has an obligation to serve the king's role.
The King is, after all, but one person. His has no more value than any other soul.
His blood, his lineage and his power are without consequence. All that matters is that he leads his country to success.
Even then, the ability of the king is of little importance. His purpose is to be a standard, a figurehead to impress.
He gives people a common goal, a common leaded, a common name to blame for the atrocities they commit.
For the king also has to shoulder the guilt of the country. He alone takes responsibility, no matter whose throat is slit.
The most important thing to remember is that the king belongs to the country
the country does not belong to the king.

Hey guys! Considering this deadline is up, it's time to announce the winner. It was a difficult choice; not only because there were two entries, but also because both of them were extremely well written. But because you two must have been antsy, and would hate for me to drag on this speech:

    What?

What? came out on top in this round, for his exquisite description of the setting and the way in which he captured the raw power of the Amber King.

The winner will be awarded with a pin, which is still in the process of being made.

Do not fret if you were not chosen this round. There will be more contests in the future, so get those creative juices flowing!

I look forward to seeing you both all in future contests, and again, congratulations to you both.
