Internet Tax?

My dad heard something about people at Washington want to tax the internet in the whole country.......

Any thoughts or confirmations?

I heard about this too in my American citizenship class. But I'm pretty sure the tax they were talking about would only have affected businesses that use the internet a lot (such as schools). From what I got out of class, I don't think it would affect people at home.
