Yurp. One of my favorite sad endings in the series is "In Water" from Silent Hill 2. So tragic, yet...I don't know, it felt like a satisfying conclusion even though it wasn't a happy ending at all.

Whether or not James is a murderer or killed his wife in mercy is up to how the player views the story and plays the game. That's what made the story so great to me: the audience's interpretation is really important to the story's conclusion.
Alex's brother's death and Mary's death essentially brought about the same feelings: intense guilt and corruption of one's sanity. That one ending where Alex turns out to be a hospital loon was my least favorite. Reminded me of the bad ending for Silent Hill 1, where everything turned out to be the dream of a dead man. Though it wasn't as satisfying, it was at least more...creative.

Ah, ok. I'm coming up with some more monster ideas now. They're mainly based on medical conditions and such, as the main character is a nurse.

Oh, I know the basic premise of Fatal Frame. I just don't know the actual story behind it beyond the ghost-capturing camera.

And knowing your story would be split into 5 games sounds like a good idea, although that may also thin out the story for each game by having to separate them, y'know? I'm no expert on writing of course, just my opinion.

Sounds a lot like the whole plot from 1 and 3. I'm personally not that big a fan of said plot, and prefer more personal, psychological stories. Maybe give the story more concrete details, and try to differentiate it a bit more. I haven't played Fatal Frame yet (I know) so I don't know its story too well. And too many characters makes the plot less concentrated, an issue I have with the Silent Hill movie.

I can just draw it again. I remember exactly what it looked like.

      And whaa?

I have a sketch of it too :D

Think I should write more? I want to kinda keep the traditional mystery of the series, while keeping a focus on personal storylines rather than stick to the cult thing. And I really like the idea of flipping the idea of having someplace too bright rather than too dark and still make it scary.

They're kinda outdated, as I typed it up last year.

You play as a male nurse named Trent Parkman, who was abused as a child by his older brother. He enjoys helping people and hates seeing them suffer, yet the sight of blood seems to...excite him. He's nice, but introverted.

      His supporting cast includes:
-Wendy Alexandria, a college student with a fear of water. Trent secretly likes her, even though his best friend is her boyfriend.
-Paul Jones (lolzy name I know), a successful doctor who helped Trent get his job, and has a hobby of making weird sculptures based off his dreams. Wendy's boyfriend and Trent's best friend.
-Oliver Williams, apparently a former librarian who seems very smart, but avoids people, and is always seen with a book (Vincent much?)

The game starts in a hospital with Trent working overtime helping an elderly woman. He has to go to the bathroom, but when he exits, he finds himself alone in the hospital. The lights are all on (contrary to other Silent Hill games), but it has that eery hospital feel, y'know? And after some exploring, Trent finds the elderly woman....in pieces, at the hands of a very tall creature, covered in cuts, with sharp objects for hands, feet, and a head. Trent finds a scalpel for a weapon.

Thats all I have for now really.

In other news, I'm convinced that I need to be part of the team that makes new Silent Hill games, so I can make sure they actually do it right. I have some story ideas, monster ideas, characters in mind, environments, etc. And none of it includes Pyramid Head.

Oh, don't get me wrong (I said that already but shut up), Resident Evil 4 wasn't scary (ok...there were 2 scenes that FREAKED ME OUT), but it was a brilliant action game with a horrific theme. And I'm ok with it, because the game was bloody fun. I can't comment on any other game in the series though, except 5, which was like...4-lite + co-op.

To compare it to Silent Hill is like comparing a stick of dynamite to a bloody letter from a loved one. I love both (...well, Resident Evil 4 at least, and Silent Hill 1-3...) because they do their own things in their own cool ways.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not just a review-bot. I actually read and watch reviews from people I find trustworthy. But, like I said, I kinda have an ability to figure out if I'm gonna like a game or not by watching enough gameplay. Its never proven me wrong actually.

Resident Evil 4 is awesome. 5 was ruined by forced co-op and dumb climax. Never played any of the other games.

Call of Duty was good up to Modern Warfare, then they basically made the same game for 8 years with a new coat of paint.

That, plus good word of mouth from my friends. Still, I have my own personal taste in games that differs from theirs. I have my own kind of...intuition for finding quality games. They like the Dynasty Warrior games, I don't care for them, but we all love Mass Effect. I love Silent Hill 1, but my friend hated it...I'm not sure if jokingly, or because of the controls, or what.

Especially if, as I'm predicting, the game doesn't sell well.

Actually, he does have kind of a backstory. He's based on the executioners for the old town, who wore pointed red hoods for the ceremonies. I believe you find this info in 4.

I haven't played Downpour, nor do I intend to until the price drops, like what I did for Homecoming. I'm not cynical, but if I don't see a majority of higher scores, I usually don't pick a game up until its cheaper. They cost too much now.

Yeah, but like I said, they ruined the character of Pyramid Head. He's essentially been turned into the series whore: dropped into different titles with literally no plot relevance. Hell, if you don't get that ending, then you pretty much just see him once, say "Hi", and watch him walk away awkwardly as if he screwed up a pick-up line. And in the movie, he's kinda just there to tease the main characters, and then skin a chick. Again, no real plot relevance.

It does make sense for the symbolism, but they could have easily used someone else, not James' personal demon. Kinda missed the point.
    18. Hayabusa
      Hayabusa
You kinda said it yourself: James isn't in his right mind, and we don't realize that until the climax. One of the major points of 2 is that, the main character himself is a mystery, where as every other protagonist is pretty straight-forward with their morality. He's also in denial of the death he caused. Its not annoying to me; its tragic. Part of him believes he saved his wife, the other part believes he just wanted her gone.

Homecoming's whole family-based story was cool I think, and it had some awesome monster designs, but I felt like the relationship between Alex and...the one chick, was the typical friends-but-maybe-eventually-lovers thing. I also hate the ending where Alex is turned into a Pyramid Head because it ruins the whole point of the character: James Sunderland's own self-hatred and torture.

For me, 2 is more psychological while 1 and 3 are more mythological, if that makes sense? Thats why so many people, including myself, love it. Still, 3 is my personal favorite still, but 2 was where I started.

I loved 2 because it was so different from any games I'd played before, including the first game. Having a mysterious character that you can't figure out if he's sane or not, multiple characters experiencing their own personal hell, a story outside of the cult, and Pyramid Head. The only game where he belongs. I just loved all of the symbolism and such.

But yeah, I want more female characters. I've actually been writing some of my own ideas for a Silent Hill game. Quite different from what the games have so far.

      Thanks mate :]

My personal favorites are 1-3, as many fans of Silent Hill will tell you. Homecoming kinda ripped-off 2's plot-twist, and the combat was too easy, which ruined the atmosphere for me. 3 is my personal favorite. The creepiest enemies and horrifying environments, as well as playing as a teenage girl.

Im a open minded person. I can play and watch anything that gets my interest. I love anime, manga, video games, and writing but due to recent events I decided to call it quits by putting a stop to them all which means I wont do anything anime, manga, or video game related things with the exception of Fatal Frame that will be the only thing that will survive after I sell everything. I was inspired by JesuOtaku to make reviews but unfortunately I haven't made such reviews on video yet but I have written some reviews on GameFAQs.
