UGH just finished bingeing the Voltron eps that are on Netflix atm

I'm conflicted. I loved it and adore my smol space children, but at the same time we have to wait until winter for more eps...

i have zero qualms with the death note casting at the moment to be honest; it all depends on the performances they turn in imo (not really familiar w/ most of their work). i'm actually pretty excited & like the choices so far (...and am shocked it is finally happening). hope it turns out.

 

If it ain't good it better be hilarious.

 

I'm exited about everyone but Light right now. The cool thing is actually having Ryuk. The script for the original film back when Zac Efron was thought to be Light didn't have anything supernatural except for the Note itself so this is cool.

 

One of the reasons why it's taken so long to get this movie done is because one of the directors (Shane Black) was fighting with the studio. He wanted Ryuk in but Warner Brothers wanted him out. I feel that one of the major benefits of having it moved to Netflix is that they offer more artistic freedom.

 

Shane Black gets a lot of crap sometimes but I've always felt like he's the perfect mix of "fan" and "director" compared to others who lean one way or the other. Though I think he has a habit of switching between modes during the same film.

 

That's really weird that Warner Bros wouldn't want Ryuk. He's not even controversial?
