I truly doubt this game actually takes place anywhere between KH and KH2, considering Nomura's already created a substantial amount of games in the series that have backtracked and unveiled various happenings in the past. I think it's well enough time they move past all that and start moving into the future (post-KH2). I really don't think we would get anything at all out of observing Riku retrace Sora's footsteps or anything of that sort during the year he is asleep, beside perhaps entertainment, but Nomura's pushed the idea of revealing significant plot information through backtracking to some pre-KH2 point in the series to its limit. I am confident that this game will be the first step (or really, second step, including Coded) toward finally moving forward in the series in some unpredictable way, considering KH3 is finally becoming tangible in the horizon.

This. In addition to what someone previously said about making the voices sound weird and awkward. I think my biggest concern here is really the voice acting at this point. The story is more serious (just as I like it), and therefore I want voice acting that is representative of that and that does not make it a children's game. Also, Disney better not screw with anything for that same reason.

    episode summary:

Sora reawakens in Traverse Town. He sees Mickey standing before him. Mickey tells Sora that he was there on the day that his journey started, and that it's time he tells him the truth. Sora summons the Keyblade, Mickey opens a door to a new world: Castle Oblivion. They step through. Sora, now alone, is confronted by a man wearing a black coat. He tells Sora that if he wants to know the truth, he must move forward. He gives Sora a world card to Destiny Islands. Sora uses the card on the door in front of him. He steps through, and is in a completely blank room, until Selphie appears. Sora continues to journey through the previous worlds he visited destroying Bugs. During this time, he realizes that even if he doesn't remember someone he's met, there's still the sadness of having forgotten them. He holds his sadness close to him and continues on. The black coated man appears before him again during his journey, and tells him that if he holds on to that sadness too close, he will fall into darkness. Sora disregards this message, and continues forth. After finishing going through the worlds he visited previously, Sora continues to hold onto his pain and attempts to continue. The black coated man appears before him once again. He tells Sora that he will show him pain, and reveals himself to be Roxas. Roxas attacks Sora, and the two ensue in a battle. After the battle, Roxas is defeated, and he gives Sora the Key to Truth card. He then fades away. Mickey appears, and they both open the next door. In the next room, Naminé appears before them. She tells Sora that because his memories were erase and restored previously, it resulted in the creation of the Bugs. She tells him that within his heart, is someone else's memories, and that this is the true meaning of the words "We must return to free them from their torment" written in the journal. Though they are gone, Namine, Roxas, Axel, Xion, as well as Terra, Aqua, and Ventus, are all still connected within Sora's heart. Sora says that he feels as though he's met Terra, Aqua, and Ventus before. Naminé tells him that he's met two of them, and that he seems to have a very special connection with the other one. She then continues to tell him, that in the future, the time will come when they need to be awakened. Mickey promises Naminé that he will inform the real Sora of this. Naminé begins to fade away, and Sora thanks her.

During the credits, Mickey sends the real Sora a letter. It is revealed that the letter that Sora gets at the end of Kingdom Hearts II talks about how there is memories of another (Ventus) in his heart. It also states that Namine, Xion, Roxas, Axel, Ventus, Terra, and Aqua are connected to Sora's heart and in the future the memories must be awakened. It should be noted that Namine told King Mickey this in data Castle Oblivion and promised he would tell the real Sora, which he did.

"I wanted to tell you immediately.

There are memories asleep inside you.

Those memory fragments connect to the future

    Sora, Riku, Kairi

The truth surrounding the Keyblade, passes through numerous connections, they’re inside your hearts.

    Sora

It all leads to you, everyone is waiting for you. The only one who can heal their sadness is you.

It's possible that the travels up until now compared to the next trip may have been easy. Everything thought to be accidental was really connected the door to a new departure already seems to be opening.

    -Mickey "

Honestly, I hate to say this and all, but if Disney had nothing to do with the whole Kingdom Hearts franchise to begin with, I feel as though it would be soooooo much better. Not to say I don't like having Donald, Goofy, Mickey, and all the Disney worlds and characters and everything around (though it does occasionally take away from the serious and darker overall tone of the series, which sucks), but with all these absurd censorships and everything.. I really think if they weren't restricted by having to keep it E rated, they could do so much more. I'm not talking about just these small little censorships, but the overall tone in general.

ps. this was in no way meant to bash the series.. I adore everything about Kingdom Hearts. I would just adore it MORE if Disney laid off a bit and allowed for the true, darker tone that the story really deserves to come out more.

Wait, so, basically this conversation took place in his mind? I mean, if this is what you're implying, Axel's already dead by this point, no? I'd like to believe that maybe there's a few day period between when Roxas sees Sora in his pod in Virtual Twilight Town and when he actually joins with him.. and at some point during that day or few day period or however long it may be, he meets with Axel one last time. Axel also mentions how he "talked to Namine" about how Roxas might have a heart, and it was, in fact, during this same period of time in which Riku entrusted Axel to watch over Namine, so they would have had the chance to talk about it.

In Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix, after defeating Roxas as a boss, you see that set of cutscenes (Roxas' birth, w/Axel on the clock tower, and battle with Riku). My question is, having just finished 358/2 Days, when, chronologically, does that conversation with Axel on the clock tower occur? It certainly doesn't happen anytime during Days. One would assume that it happens during Kingdom Hearts 2, while Sora is going to different worlds, but I was lead to believe that Roxas was inside Sora for the duration of Kingdom Hearts 2, from the "end of summer vacation" up through the end, the climax of Sora feeling Roxas inside him being the fight they have. The scene seems to be Roxas and Axel's last time with each other, so I am lead to believe that it happens during Kingdom Hearts 2.. it just is not made clear. Somebody confirm?

EDIT: Watching it again for the 20th time, I'm beginning to realize that when Roxas says "So.. I have to go. Sora's waiting for me," it may be possible that this is taking place in a short period of time between when Roxas' summer vacation ends and he actually merges with Sora. Though I was originally under the impression that he rejoins with Sora at the end of the prologue of Kingdom Hearts 2 right before Sora awakens, it is possible that he first goes and meets with Axel in this scene, then, realizing that he must hurry up and rejoin with Sora so that he may awaken, hurries back and does so.
I am now quite sure that this is the case, because when Axel makes statements like "Maybe you're going to sleep" and "Soon I won't even be able to talk to your consciousness like this," it implies that Roxas will be one with Sora thus "going to sleep" and not allowing Axel to talk directly to Roxas anymore. The whole conversation is lead by the fact that Roxas will be merging with Sora, it just isn't outright said.

No doubt this has probably been mentioned at some point, but I strongly believe that Terra is who we know have come to know as Xehanort (whether it be that he was taken over by Master Xehanort or turned to darkness himself), and something that really reinforces this for me is the whole Xemnas/Chamber of Sleep and Awakening thing. What I'm referring to is the scene in which he speaks to Aqua's armor/Keyblade and he says, "It's been a long time, my friend." This is something we're all familiar with. Later, when we see the scene in which Xigbar and Zexion are talking, Xigbar mentions how he believes that the other chamber may very likely be somewhere hidden in Castle Oblivion, which would contain the other "friend," who would hypothetically be Ven (meaning the chamber would contain Ven's armor and Keyblade). I like to believe that it all connects in how Xemnas, having remembered his past at some point (whether this happened while he was still Xehanort or not is uncertain), is, or WAS, but still technically is Terra, and Aqua and Ven are his friends, reflective of the friendship trio between Sora, Riku, and Kairi or even Roxas, Axel, and Xion. To me, it's all very clear and makes an infinite amount of sense. Just thought I'd back up the whole theory with this additional idea.

This is true but I'm talking about the Keyblade ORIGNALLY being meant to be given to Riku, meaning back in Destiny Islands.
The scene you're talking about DOES involve another switch of the Keyblade's choice as its wielder, but I'm talking about the original choice of making Riku the wielder, but changing it's mind and choosing Sora once Riku turned to the darkness.

Right, but it didn't really make that clear. I actually had no idea what that actually meant until I researched it and found out that the Keyblade was originally meant to choose Riku, but when he submitted himself to darkness the Keyblade chose Sora instead, as RoxasSora2010 said (which was correct).
It never explains this, I suppose in a way it does indirectly, but not in a way that describes that this is the case.

EDIT: Also, to answer Deathsight44's question, on Destiny Islands when Sora first receives the Keyblade. That was when Riku opened himself up to darkness, and as a result the Keyblade chose Sora instead.

Where is it actually revealed in Kingdom Hearts that Riku was to be the original Keyblade wielder, but when he opened his heart to darkness it was passed on to Sora?
I don't remember this information actually being revealed in the game.

Psh. Yeh, this kinda sucks. I'm not going through the trouble of getting that new phone and w/e for this game, if there is anything relevant in the game hopefully we'll get some cutscenes which I can check out here.

EDIT: Meaning that obviously there has got to be some relevance to this game, but I'm not going through all the trouble to get it.
