Do they have an active staff, or just a dedicated memberbase? It's odd to me that the forums could keep going with a dead site.

I'd assume they weren't getting donations because, correct me if I'm wrong, it's mostly teenagers there? A few years back, when we still had our original owner Deathspank, he asked for donations to keep kh-media.net going (it was used as a separate site that hosted our videos), but didn't get much of anything due to the fact that the site is mainly made up of younger people.

Personally I'm probably a little more lenient than I should be, but I never want to stop someone from posting unless it's really terrible stuff. :x Or they annoy me. haha.

But really I guess it depends on what's causing them--iirc their main site is pretty dead, right? So it's possible they just don't care about the site anymore.

That is harsh. :/ Really unfair, too, imo. But I guess it's their site, they can run it how they choose.

A server time out is, I think, when the script times out. That can be caused by a lot of things, my best guess is that sometime while contacting the script the server itself went down, and it's more on the host's end. That's just me guessing though. :/

They haven't released any news regarding it though? Their progress on getting it back up?

It's difficult to tell from just that--they might have different problems than us. Our owner doesn't really care much for the site and shoved us on a server that can't accommodate our size & number of users very well.

Yeah, it'd be nice to have at the very least a more dedicated server. Right now ours is... well, not great, which not only only makes things hard on users (database errors), but it can make simple tasks like backing things up painful and difficult to do. :/
Since SEGA is official they can afford to have an awesome server, haha.

Same, to be honest it has very little purpose on here other than simply enjoyment. I tend to use it to thank people when they post something good. Before it was a requirement for Premium members, but iirc we removed it.

We had a lot of abuse in the negative repping too, and considered removing it, but once we started listing the person's name next to the rep that stopped being such an issue, ahah.

Oh I mean that I give/take 45 points with each rep. My total point count is 5,701.

It can differ from forum to forum. The levels and titles are listed here. You get a new box/gem for each level.

My rep power is 45, all Admins automatically have that. I kind of don't like that we're set at that though, since before I was Admin I was at 38... I'm curious as to what it is now. :x

All of the forum's data--users, posts, etc--are stored in tables in a database. So yes, they are virtual.

Basically the tables get overloaded sometimes, and it can slow down the site if it gets bad. There is a process you can run to fix it, but it's server-intensive so we can't run it often.

Looked into it and there were some tables with overhead, there was just a DBE that was due to me repairing them. Whether or not it speeds things up a bit is hard to tell but it's good to keep them under control. ;o
